When her long-distance teaching buddy goes on maternity leave, New York City native Leyla Harraq, temporarily transplants to a sleepy beach town on the West Coast to manage her friend’s Hot Yoga studio. But the yogini’s brash spunk leads to an immediate social gaffe when she insults her new landlord, carpenter Adam Fields, and must backpedal to save face.Watching Adam wallow in solitary … solitary confinement after a brutal break-up will never do. Motivated by her own need for physical contact, Leyla happily offers herself as the perfect rebound. She’ll be gone in a couple of months, no one has to know, and she can wipe his ex right out of his mind… and body. After all, if anyone knows how to turn up the heat, it’s her.
But when the studio owner realizes she can’t return to teaching full-time and asks Leyla to stay, the fish-out-of-water must make a choice. Can she abandon her commitment-free lifestyle for small town drama and a chance at love with a hunky hammer wielding man?

I pinky promise you that pinky promises is a book worth reading, deserves all 5 stars. I couldn’t get enough of this book, I was hooked from the very beginning and at the end, I wanted more!!!! Deana Birch did the damn thing with this story. Her writing kept me engage with both the story and characters.
Leyla is a breath of fresh air. She brings all the sass expected from a NYC girl and she has no filter at all. I enjoyed her take charge attitude and free spirit. Adam, is the good guy, one who steals your heart with his clam nature, good cooking skills and how he good he is with his hands lol.
This book is hilarious and a page turner. The way Adam and Leyla interacted with each other kept me turning and turning. I felt a pull towards them because of the honesty and chemistry. I don’t do yoga or surf but after these two, just sign up me for both.
I think someone described this to me as a feel-good book and I couldn’t agree more. I loved reading about this standup guy Adam and a slightly eccentric yoga teacher Leyla. They were a match made in heaven from the start even if it was not a straight line to their HEA. I think what I liked best is that it was not too sweet and also a bit raw at times. The heat between these two plays well because of Adam being so timid and Leyla’s own openness with her sexuality. Parts definitely made me giggle. There was also a fair amount to the story with plenty of other characters that added to this couple’s dynamic nicely. It was a quick read for me and if you like books on the slightly lighter side without the sugar sweetness then I definitely recommend this for you.
Leyla is an independent and eccentric lady. When her west coast yoga teaching friend asks her to fill in for her during her maternity leave she jumps at the opportunity.
She is teaching classes and spending time with her handy landlord Adam.
Their attraction and banter is hot! She offers to be his rebound over his recent break up from his long term love while she is here.
This proves to be a mutually beneficial arrangement that develops feelings.
When her friends decides that she can’t return to her yoga post baby will Leyla jump at the chance of love and permanency.
These characters were real, sweet, funny and endearing. The dialogue was lol at times and quote worthy at others. A well written and flowing line from start to finish.
I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
This was such a fantastic read. Leyla and Adam were great for each other. Leyla is helping a friend by moving to a small coastal town to teach yoga. When she and Adam first meet she lets her no filter talking get the best of her. Adam seems so sweet and nice, and he is, but there is also a dominating alpha underneath all that sweetness. When he takes a blow to his ego, Leyla says she will be his rebound sex. Since she is leaving in a couple months, they can do the no-strings, rebound sex, and then she will leave. Adam will have his self esteem back, she will get that itch scratched, and all will be good. Of course, that never goes as planned. I absolutely love Leyla’s sass and her no filter. She had me laughing. This has comedy, drama, secrets, truths and lots of steam. I loved this story and all the characters. I recommend reading this book if you want a good storyline and characters that will make you laugh and go OMGosh, no she/he didn’t.
I still remember the day I first discovered Deana Birch’s writing. I fell in love with ‘Love Repaired’ and jumped at the chance to read a copy of ‘Pinky Promises’. I was not disappointed. This book is an incredible love story. What makes it so good is that it doesn’t start off the way a typical romance book does. Leyla is a yoga instructor from New York. She’s judgey, messy and a tad bit disorganized. Having left NY to help run her friend’s yoga studio while she’s on maternity leave, we see how much of a loyal person she is. Adam is quiet, reserved and a bit of a perfectionist. He’s in the middle of a 10 year relationship but he’s not happy with her or it, but he’s not willing to take the next step and end it. Things come to a head when he discovers his girlfriend’s infidelity, not willing to accept blame she destroys his self confidence as a parting shot. During this drama, Leyla and Adam’s friendship continues to grow and their sexual attraction to one another is undeniable. Giving in to their attraction forces them down a bumpy road neither knows how to navigate. In the end their happily ever after is bittersweet and well deserved. Add this incredible book to your TBR list now, you won’t regret it.
Leyla a big city girl that finds herself in a small beach town to help a friend. Adam is swoon worthy character from the start. The banter in this book will have you smiling and laughing out loud. The way Deanna Birch describes there connect and banter had me enjoying this read from start to finish. Sit back and enjoy this fun and steamy read
Mother of all things holy! The steam is so palpable I had to stop a few times to take a deep breath. Never have I ever found characters with so much life I felt as though I were apart of their group. Leyla and Adam try everything to fight their attraction, but once they give in… The sparks will burn you through the pages. My first and definitely not my last book by Deana Birch. I can’t wait to see where these two lead in the future.
I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.
A delightful read, plenty of laugh out loud moments, and off the charts chemistry between the characters. Leyla and Adam have a strong attraction to each other but Adam has a girlfriend so they won’t act on their attraction. When Adam and his girlfriend break up and Layla offers to be his rebound since she’s only in town for a short stay. But what happens when feelings start happening between the two? A love story that starts off in a unique way. A truly enjoyable read.

The storyline was great and the characters were so well developed that I was hooked from the very beginning! I enjoyed the banter between Leyla and Adam and the HOT chemistry between these two kept me turning the pages until the very end!
Pinky Promises was a delightful book!! Leyla and Adam’s banter made me laugh out loud numerous times and their chemistry…WOW!
Leyla and Adam are attracted to each from their first meeting but don’t act on it because Adam has a girlfriend. When Adam and his girlfriend break up, Leyla offers to be his rebound, but will feelings become involved?
Leyla is a strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Adam is just a sweetheart and an all-around nice guy. These two together are funny and adorable and hot.
This was my first time reading this author and I will definitely be checking out more books by her. I would definitely recommend it.
She will help her long distance friend she met online. It is not going to be easy when she insults the landlord. How will she repair the damage? How will she repair the damage? See if she can repair the damage

This book is lovely. It’s also steamy (or I should say STEAMY in all caps!) and there’s cursing, so if you aren’t into that, it’s not the book for you. The dialogue, setting, and characters are perfectly written. I loved the story of these two going from friends to lovers to in love, getting their sh*t together through honesty and communication. She does yoga on the beach and spies on him while he’s surfing– it’s adorable. He thinks she’s a complete wackadoodle and loves it. The entire story made me happy and reminded me of summer and the shore.
Temporary turns into forever with a Pinky Promise
Pinky Promise is a wonderful, quirky, sweet, and steamy romance story about Leyla and Adam. Leyla is a yoga instructor who is feisty, intelligent, strong, determined but also quiet and at times unsure. She is definitely like all of us and very relatable….someone you would want as a friend. Adam is her landlord and he is handsome, strong, loyal, caring and just plain what you would want in a boyfriend. They form a friendship that hits a major bump and then swear a pinky promise.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
A quirky, funny, sweet, and steamy romance read
Leyla, a yoga teacher, catches Adam, a carpenter and her new landlord, gawking at her after her first class. As the story progresses a strange friendship develops, an argument derails it, and only by giving the most solemn kind of promise (the pinky promise) could they have the potential of a future. Deana Birch’s Pinky Promises is a quirky, funny, sweet, and steamy romance read. There are so many characters to love, and a few to hate, in this book; that I can only hope they get their own story. If you love sassy female leads and strong yet vulnerable male leads, this book is definitely for you. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself smiling a lot through this one.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I totally loved this book. Leyla is one of my favorite female characters from this year; she’s spunky and strong and determined, but she does have her moments of doubt. She was one of the more relatable characters I read this year; she was just so human and down-to-earth.
And then there’s swoonworthy, sorta oblivious but absolutely adorable Adam, one of the most perfect book boyfriends to ever be written. He’s not ready for Leyla, but she’s exactly what he needs – even if he fights it for awhile. While both characters have to face their own challenges and big decisions, the one constant is the invisible pull between them that doesn’t let up.
I loved their chemistry, loved their story, and loved this book.
Pinky promises was the first book I have read from this author and I wasn’t disappointed.
Leyland and Adam are perfect together… and what chemistry
Loved the banter between the two main characters… loved the book
Must read
So this time of the year is… dramatic. Seriously. Family, holidays, stress, food (okay, yeah, that’s a pleasure, but waistline concerns… not so much), travel, money, and a million other things that just seem to compound themselves. Why, pray tell, do I bring all that ick up in a BOOK REVIEW? Well, darlings, that is because Pinky Promises is a light-hearted, but steamy read that is exactly what you need to distract you from… all that.
Our female lead is Leyla and she is an unabashed big city girl… brashy attitude and all. Deep down (sometimes way deep down) Leyla has a really good heart so when her yoga teaching bestie, who just so happens to live across the country, asks her to be the fill in yoga teacher at her studio while she is on maternity leave, Leyla immediately agrees. In truth, Leyla is having a few bumps in the city so the change of scenery would probably help as well.
Oh but there is one fabulous piece of scenery that Ms. Harraq did not count on and that’s Adam. Listen, folks, I would not mind having this sexy-as-Hades carpenter/landlord as part of my regularly scheduled eye candy. Leyla is beyond lucky.
Maybe not so lucky because the hunky Adam is taken. Insert massive groaning here. Yeah, I know.
But there is trouble in paradise for Adam when the sexy carpenter is left brokenhearted when he and his decade long girlfriend end their relationship. All the sads except…
Leyla is ready, willing, and able to mend Adam. At least temporarily because she’s going back to NYC as soon as Kara returns to the yoga mats after she recovers from childbirth, right?
Maybe things aren’t quite as simple as they seemed in Grover Beach for Leyla after all. Grab your own copy today!
Leyla is from NYC and has all the sass to prove it. She ends up managing her friend’s yoga studio while she’s out on maternity leave. She makes a mistake when she meets her landlord Adam and has to find a way to apologize. Adam is just out of a relationship and isn’t looking for another one. Leyla lets him know she would be perfect for a rebound as she doesn’t plan to be in town long. This is a fun, sexy and great read. A feel good romance with heat.
I have read several books lately with delightful couples, but Leyla and Adam really take the cake. Separately, they are amazingly enjoyable; but together they are simply adoreable!
I was at first a wee bit reluctant to read this book, considering that one of the two love interests was already in a relationship with another woman when it began. But that situation is quickly resolved (and later further explained) in a way that let him keep his Good Guy card intact. And Adam was pretty much an all around great guy, the kind that any woman would be lucky to date.
Leyla was completely different from anything he had ever experienced, from her New York accent to her brutal honesty. She was a quirky, down-to-earth, genuinely nice person, and just the breath of fresh air that Adam hadn’t even known that he needed.
The pinky promises don’t come in to play until about forty percent through the story, but they are a darling and very important part of the overall story. Which primarily centers around how these two deserving people find each other, then navigate the often perilous but always worth it, joys and pitfalls of a new, intense, meaningful, and ultimately rewarding relationship.
Pinky Promises is a well conceived novel with an amazing heroine. Yoga instructor Leyla Harraq kept me glued to each page, as her spunky New York City personality provided endless entertainment. Carpenter Adam Wallow is Leyla’s landlord, and his kindness is beyond swoon worthy.
Leyla never thought she would call a small, coastal town in California home, but that’s what happens when her friend Kara asks her to run her yoga studio while she is on maternity leave. Leyla loves performing yoga and teaching yoga, but earning a living as an instructor is quite difficult in NYC because there are so many yoginis. Temporarily relocating to Grover Beach is a bit daunting, however, working one job instead of three to make ends meet seems like a logical idea to Leyla.
Adam enjoys his quiet life on the beach, surrounded by good friends and riding the morning waves. He recently broke up with his girlfriend of ten years, after finding out she was cheating on him. As a result, he is quite vulnerable and unsure of his sexual talents. Working with wood helps keep him calm, and he loves creating beautiful things. He and Leyla share an instant chemistry which evolves into lust and love.
I enjoyed this story and the wonderfully written characters by author Deana Birch. Leyla is full of life, sexuality and energy. She is a dynamo both in and out of the bedroom. Adam is a romantic, and his thoughtfulness, good looks, and honesty is every woman’s paradise. Unfortunately, their numerous steamy encounters became a bit repetitive. I am truly looking forward to reading more from Ms. Birch.
