**********Contains Spoilers***********
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. Each book in this collection is reviewed separately.
Under His Care – Chuey and Ryder’s story kind of started in Gideon and Jack’s story Bearest of Them All when they both smelt an amazing smell well at least Ryder did so you’re probably best to read the Bear Brother Series first as this is where you where introduced to Ryder. I loved the connection between Ryder and Chuey. Chuey is 19 years old and his Padre Logan rescued him from living in the wild in the hills of Mexico where he’d been living for years so he’s had to learn everything. Logan still treats him like a child as he remembers what he was like when they found him and Ryder is a alpha of a hybrid motorcycle club/pack so he thinks that can’t claim Chuey as Chuey doesn’t need a man like him with a savour daddy complex. Chuey finally has enough of his padre’s meddling/rules and treating him like a kid that he tells him that he’s going to move in with Garth and goes back to their cabin to pack his gear, Ryder comes in and demands for him to tell him why he’s moving in with Garth and whether they have a s*xual relationship, Chuey got angry and ended up kissing Ryder and that’s all she wrote, Ryder ended up holding Chuey down and kissing him forcefully which Chuey has no problem with and is enjoying but Logan comes in and basically forces Ryder away from his son which didn’t help that Ryder pushed Logan away not hard just with a hand on Logan’s chest then Hugh and Julian Logan’s mates walk in so it all escalated, Chuey ends up leaving with Ryder but Logan yells that he’s going to call the cops on him saying that he was forcing Chuey. Chuey starts to thrive under Ryder’s love, protection and guidance. Yes, their partnership is most likely viewed negatively by the outside world due to the age difference but as long as they’re happy who cares what others think. Ryder and his motorcycle club is having problems with Marcos and his gang the Bulldogs, they’re trying to hit the club where it hurts like wreaking their bar, robbing the liquor store that supplies them all their alcohol and the local police don’t help as they’re in Marcos’s pocket. I loved the weird friendship between Chuey and Garth and I’m looking forward to reading his story. Also I enjoyed getting to know some of the members in the club.
Under His Control – Garth is very well liked in his pack and with the Hybrid’s as he rubs people the wrong way and comes across as a complete a*sehole but really he’s just trying to be something he isn’t which is an alpha. He’s also also a closet s*bmissive and has feelings for Cassius the newest but youngest hybrid to join Ryder’s motorcycle club, Garth thinks that everyone will judge him for not only being with a younger man but also that man is over 10 years younger and demands Garth’s s*bmision sometimes it’s the thought of being judged that makes everything worse. I loved the connection between Cass and Garth but Garth’s own worst enemy is himself. I love how Cass just sees straight into Garth’s sole and that he uses his scorn and anger as he hates being vulnerable so it’s better for him to repel people so they can’t hurt him. Man, it’s heart breaking about that whole pack being k*lled and can’t believe that the old lady selling produce is the maker of the group m*rdering shifters and hybrid’s just because they’re scared of them, whereas they’re just people like everyone else with some more strength, some extra senses and some of them can turn into animals. It was beautiful when Garth decides to not care what others say about them so while in the Hybrid’s bar he goes over to Cass and kneels at his feet and offering him the collar that Cass gave to him saying that he wants Cass to put it on him and that he accepts Cass as his mate and m*ster. Man, Bel Cass’s business partner and friend is intense and demands respect but would do everything for Cass and other friends, as well as tying to help all shifter and hybrid’s with trying to work out an antidote for the poison that the old lady created. I’m looking forward to reading Thorne’s book as his story interested me since he sends most of his pay to somewhere in Texas and also sent one test to check if the food was poisoned so he obviously cares about someone a lot, and has called his brother.
Under His Command – I’m glad that we finally got to know who Thorne actually sends all his money too in Texas. His step-brother Sage who he protected until he was forced to leave as they said that they’d hurt and even maybe k*ll him since they all thought that it was sick and wrong that Thorne and Sage had feelings for each other since they were brothers, they didn’t know each other until Sage was 12 years old so it’s not like they grew up together thinking they were actual brothers and they weren’t related just through marriage plus Thorne’s mum Tami knew that they were most likely mates but wanted to protect them both but especially Sage since he was very kind hearted and mild mannered. Thorne never got to say goodbye to Sage but as soon as he started earning money he used to send it to Sage so he could hopefully get out of Texas and away from their horrible pride and make something of himself since he’s so smart. Fast forward 12 years Thorne receives a note from Sage telling him that their mum died and that her funeral is on Wednesday Thorne decides to go back but the Sage he left is completely different than the boy he left and not just in age but temperament.
Sage’s also pregnant which Thorne is shocked about, but Sage is having none of Thorne’s alpha bullshit and tells Thorne what’s up and that Red is the father is Sage’s Baby. Sage assumes that Thorne is disgusted that Sage is pregnant but it’s actually that he just wants Sage to have a better life than being pregnant to a drug addict and a cheater. I loved this second chance romance that had a lot of resentment on Sage’s end that Thorne left and never came back, it didn’t help that Tami never told him the reason that Thorne left was to protect Sage. I hate the Protectors of Pure, they’re trying to kill off a whole species all because they don’t understand that even though they turn into animals or partial shift between human and animal like the hybrid’s it doesn’t meant that they’re all mindless k*llers and that they don’t need a cure. Just because they may have had some bad experiences with a shifter/hybrid it doesn’t mean that they’re all bad, as the saying goes you shouldn’t tar everyone with the same brush. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for the hybrid’s and the rest of shifter kind.
Under His Cover – Jaesun is an investigative reporter who has been brought in by the Protectors of Pure to spy on the shifters in Hope and are blackmailing him to do it by saying that they have dirt on his grandfather that could ruin them and also hurt his father and making him listen to his fathers screams and maybe killed his grandfather. Jaesun is so adorkable signing up to a 2 week stay at Jack’s wildlife camp when he hates the outdoors and loves suspenders and bow ties with collared shirts and pressed pants. He did it so he could get the dirt and hopefully save his family. Wilder is a mountain of a man who when Jaesun met him for the first time described him as a lumber-sexual which kind of doesn’t gel with him being in a motor cycle club. I loved the connection between Wilder and Jaesun, you can feel it pulsing from the start. When everyone finds out what Jaesun has done and that he’s working for the Protectors it doesn’t go well and Wilder has to fight off his own pack to protect his mate and the situation gets way worse when the Dragons get involved but Jaesun doesn’t hesitate to jump in front of Wilder and turn his back on Ace which shows that him and Wilder are mates and that he’d do anything for him even if it’s face danger. What’s up with Orion being an a*se considering he’s Wilder’s best friend and they’ve been through so much, he must be hurt that Wilder has found his mate so they won’t be as close as they were, and it looked like Wilder was choosing Jaesun over his pack and that Wilder was acting like a completely stupid alpha since his mating but since Orion has no idea what having a mate is like he doesn’t know the feelings and connection they both feel. The Protectors are totally upping their game, I wonder what their end goal is. I’m looking forward to reading Link and Fritz story as if anyone needs a happily ever after is Link after everything he’s lost and been through.
I’d definitely recommend this collection, each book in the series and author to everyone.
