From USA Today bestselling authors Jane Blythe and Amanda Siegrist comes a thrilling, keeps-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense filled with loss, obsession, and love.
Don’t turn out the lights … anything can hide in the dark.
Some childhood fears follow you into adulthood. Detective Jade Hawkins is smart, strong, and successful at her job. At least that’s what she’d like everyone to … like everyone to believe, but in reality, she leaves a tiny piece of herself with every victim of every case she works. She’s starting to wonder whether one day she will run out of pieces of herself to give, but when a case has her needing the expertise of a friend she might realize what she’s been searching for could have been right in front of her all along.
Miles Thomas isn’t shy to admit he is an expert in computers. Women, on the other hand— that’s an entirely different story. When his friend Jade asks for help in her latest murder case dissecting the victim’s computer, he doesn’t hesitate. He loves computers, they’re his forte, but he also can’t deny Jade anything because he likes her way more than a friend. If only he had the nerve to tell her. He might be shy to admit his feelings, but he refuses to back down when he sees how much Jade truly needs him…no matter what he has to do.

This is book two co written by Iane Blythe and Amanda Siegrist.
This is centred around Jane and miles who are written very well.
I prefer this one better over book 1 but they both worth a read.
I was gripped from the first page and it kept me guessing till the very end
Jade lives in a friendly neighborhood, so when Miles asked her over for pizza and a movie she jumped on it. She is a cop, working on a tough case and could use a break. She has no idea he has a huge crush on her.
Miles is a computer whiz. He is shy, a nerd, and she has doesn’t realize how much he will help when she needs it most.
HE was peeping through the window, watching his next victim. He likes Charlie a lot and thinks about not hurting her…but that won’t stop him.
As Jade and her partner, Carter, begin investigating Charlie’s disappearance, she felt sure it was the serial killer they were looking for. There had been three women found in the park and she was afraid Charlie would be the fourth.
The title is appropriate, because Jade is terrified of the dark. At times her fear paralyzes her, putting her in danger because of her inability to act.
We have plenty of suspects and as we begin to eliminate them, one by one. The clock is ticking. Will they catch him before he kills again? The suspense is building, because I do know what comes next. At least, I think I do. And it’s not good.
We all know Jade and Miles will hook up, so to say the romance is a slow burn works. Have you ever looked at someone and, all of a sudden, saw them in a completely different way, like they’re not the same person you always knew? That’s Jade.
When I hear a noise at Miles door…
Each book introduces us to a new couple that will face danger and fall in love and are able to stand alone. Out of Darkness contains all I need for a horrible mystery to be solved with enough danger to fill me with suspense and characters that will enthrall me to the very end.

I really enjoyed reading books that Amanda and Jane have written.
I loved this book!! Jane and Amanda did a fantastic job with seamlessly writing together!! Jade & Miles are great together!! I love a shy man!! I have one of my own! The mystery was great and I definitely enjoyed it. Miles makes for an amazing member of my harem!!
Having read several of this author’s novels when I came across this one it tempted me to enter in. Having intrigue and suspense in it was the drug it used to open it up and have the characters take me on their journey that becomes quite the adventure. I like that it is a female detective-Jade whom is very good at what she does. Then there is Miles whom is good at what he does. Once they come together to work on a case we are goners into this one for the duration. Keeps us on our toes and holding our breath at times. Flipping the pages quickly too ate this one up.
Really enjoying this new co written series. Like book 1, book 2 (Out of the Darkness) was full of suspense, mystery and danger. That had me flipping pages needing to know what happened next.
Jade and Carter, with the help of Miles are on the hunt for another bad guy. Can they find him?
I absolutely loved this wonderfully addictive romantic suspense story involving a sadistic serial killer and Detective Jade Hawkins and her computer expert and neighbor, Miles Thomas who are working around the clock to stop him while realizing how perfect they might be for each other. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved this one!!! Jade is a detective who calls on her neighbor Miles to help her with a case since he’s a computer genius and he jumps at the chance to work closely with Jade. The mystery of this story drew me in and didn’t let me go and I couldn’t get enough of Jade and Miles!
Out of the Darkness is a suspenseful, action packed story with great characters and a sweet love story. Miles and Jade are so good together and I hope we get to see more of them in future books.
I love the writing duo of Jane Blythe and Amanda Siegrist and look forward to reading more from them.
4.5 thrilling stars
Though I enjoyed book 1, Drowning in You, I liked this one even more. I was hooked after the first few pages and the next thing I know I’ve finished the book. Can hardly wait for book 3!
I thoroughly enjoyed book one, Drowning In You, in this Conquering Fear series and couldn’t wait to read this second book. I can happily say I was just as entertained and thrilled with the suspense as well the romance.
Detective Jade Hawkins and her partner investigate the unusual murders of women who are then left in a public place, equally in a strange way. Jade’s neighbor and friend, Miles Thomas, helps occasionally the police with some cases using his expert computer skills. Jade calls on him again to help in this case.
From the beginning, I couldn’t help but like Miles, his shyness and geeky nature made him endearing but his self-honesty was the clincher for me. He knew what he was like, he could see himself and made no excuses. His family were all interesting and it’s a wonder he didn’t tell them to butt out, however, he wasn’t like that of course.
Jade’s fear is a terrifying one for many and yet I liked the way she forged ahead with her life and didn’t let it stop her from doing what she wanted, well most of the time. I enjoyed seeing her growth in this story with Miles. She was a strong character who knew her worth as a detective in book one but in this book we see another side of her as well.
Great descriptions of both characters and settings help to make this a fast-paced book. The suspense element kept me on my toes more in this story and I liked that too. I found the friends-to-lovers romance smoothly executed and incorporated well into the story. I have to say Miles’ sister, Tina, and Detective Owen’s story intrigue me immensely. Bring on book three.

Jade and Miles are an odd but perfect pairing and the tension around this suspenseful romance was really great.
This shy computer guy and gutsy detective have a friendship that they both need and the serial killer they both find themselves involved with keeps the story rolling in a very quick way! I need to go back and tackle the first book now!

This is the second book in the Conquering Fear Series. I absolutely loved this one. It was I have to say better than the first one. The mystery side of this book was downright suspenseful and had me hooked. I absolutely love Jane and Amanda writing together and hope to get more from them.
Miles and Jade have quite the story to tell and will hook you from the beginning and have you holding on until the end. Jade is a Detective with the local police force and is trying to solve a very difficult case. Her neighbor Miles is a computer expert who knows all about computers. She goes to him to see if he can break through the defense and computer stuff and see if he can help her with the case. But things happen between them when they start to work on the case. Miles has had feelings for Jade but he is very shy and doesn’t know how to express his feelings. But his sister helps him with that.
These two work together against the suspect once they figure out who it is but things change when the suspect turns on them. I absolutely love the suspense in this one. From having to figure out who the killer is and why he is doing what he does, to the Detective and Miles fighting against the suspect. It has you hooked and on the edge of your seat.
A well written, suspenseful with a little romance amazing book. I cant wait to read more from these two. Highly recommend.
4 and a half stars.
This book was slightly better than the first, think the authors are finding their groove as a pair.
The plot was even more messed up which I loved and the characters annoyed me less.
Good lead into book 3 was also made.
Series is a must read for those who like thinking in books.
Wow what amazing book I loved how it played out and how it ended I loved everything about it and more
4*
Jade is working another case with Carter, women are going missing from their homes. With no links or clues she asks her neighbour Miles the computer wizz for help.
Miles is happy to help jade in anyway he can, having helped them before.
Another good story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
She’s a cop trying to catch a killer. Trying to catch a break in a case that is breaking her. He’s her neighbor and friend who is too adorable for words but a friend is all he will ever be. He’s too shy to let her know just what their time together means. With his family pushing him forward and a killer on the loose, this geek finally gets a chance to show her he’s more than just a neighbor. But their romance takes a back seat to the terror that is draining the blood of innocent women. It’s a full on action packed read that will have you spinning and gasping for more. High emotions and rugged actions will have you turning the pages for more. When these two author’s team up there isn’t much chance of it being anything but gold.
Jane Blythe and Amanda Siegrist are a great writing team and their second collaboration “Out of the Darkness” is an example of romantic suspense at it’s best. Love and danger are expertly intertwined as the characters search for the truth while coming to terms with how they feel about each other.
A serial killer is terrorizing a small town and Detective Jade Hawkins is working overtime to put an end to the madness. The bodies are left in a park, covered with colorful ribbons. Who is responsible for these horrific crimes? Do the women have anything in common? Jade has her hands full with too many questions and not enough answers. Her job is her life, her fellow officers are her family and her neighbor Miles, is one of her only friends. Miles is a computer genius and when Jade needed help with the serial killer case, she called him immediately. His brilliance with the keyboard was astounding, and Jade was in awe of his expertise. As they gathered clues, fought off danger and got closer to the truth, Jade and Miles became a formidable team, that would never give up. Working side by side with Jade was a dream come true for Miles and once the case was closed he wanted to be with Jade, keep her safe and always keep her in the light.
I picked up this book to read a couple of chapters and next thing I knew, I’d finished it! Could not put it down! A serial killer on the loose, Jade has to face her fears before more victims show up or she becomes one herself. This book is creepy but awesome, non stop action from the beginning until the very last page. I loved Carter’s book so it was great to learn more about his partner, Jade and her adorable neighbour, Miles. Will this case bring a happy ending? Read it and find out!
