He’s a brawler, she’s a speed racer. Together, they’re explosive.Isobel:Heir to the McRae estate, Lennox is the huge Highlander everyone respects. But deep down, he’s a dirty fighter. He crashed my car, stole my first kiss, then walked away with another woman. There’s no reason why, years later, when I see him in a fight, I should be lusting after his body. They call him Hard Nox, but I know him, … should be lusting after his body. They call him Hard Nox, but I know him, and damned if he’s getting an easy ride back into my life.
Nox:
Isobel is a menace. She races cars and has tattoos in places I can’t even imagine. I shouldn’t want her. But I can’t forget the one kiss we shared as teenagers. Fresh out of the military, I have one thing in my sights – her.
Isobel Fitzroy is my best friend’s sister, and I’m going to tame her wild heart.

From the author of the Marry the Scot series comes a brand-new generation. Wild Scots brings you everything you love about Scottish heroes and contemporary romance but sexier, faster, and supercharged.

This is the first book in the wild Scots series. It’s the next generation series following marry the Scots.
Lennox and isobel are great together and have so much chemistry. The story is well written.
I would read more from this author.
4 CRANKY STARS
I am changing my review ratings to where 4 is the best review from me as I am finding the authors are devoting too much time to the sex scenes. I loved the first series, Marry the Scot but by book 4 I was tired of the sex scenes going on for pages. I love the storylines and was anticipating another series about this fabulous family. The families seem so normal for our times. Loads of bad situations that they rise above. Now this series starts and here we go again with the sex thing. I know that they are love stories but honestly who wants to read about their exploits in bed in such detail. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I finally started skim reading through those pages and pages.
These books are about the kids of the men and women in the first series. They’re young adults now with their share of problems just like their parents. “Hard Nox” is about Callum’s twins, mainly Lennox. Lennox has come back from the military to find out that his cousin’s sister is now a woman. Isobel has hated Nox since she was sixteen and saw him with her archnemesis Amber. Now he is back, and he is gorgeous. She has low self esteem and has never seriously thought about having a romantic relationship with any man. The ups and downs of their reacquaintance is stormy. The plot twists when Amber and her family reinstate themselves into Nox’s life. AS I said before, I don’t mind some bedroom activity but let’s limit it and not be so descriptive. Otherwise a great start to a new series.
Lots of action for a young couple hooked on adrenaline
4.5stars
This was an action-packed and smokin’ start to a new romance series built around the lives and loves of two well-situated families, the McRae’s of Scotland and the aristocratic Fitzroys. Young Isobel is a classic car enthusiast and speed junkie with a load of insecurities and a grudging hankering for Lennox “Nox” McRae, future heir to the McRae lands and lairdship. Nox is a restless, fist-pounding powerhouse who seems to constantly just miss the boat in his pursuit of Isobel.
Together they ignite and explode as author Julie Vines pulls out all the stops in pouring heated descriptions of their passionate clinches on the page. For me, less would have been fine, but there’s no lack of emotion and angst either.
I really liked the added subplots involving their siblings and the quality of the writing. Vines is one of my go-to authors since I discovered her Marry the Scot series of romances about the same McRae and Fitzroy families but focusing on the previous generation. Each major protagonist is a complex character with his or her unique issues. I love coming back book after book to these families.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Hard Nox is the first in Jolie Vines’ new series Wild Scots. It is also the next generation to her previous serious, Marry The Scot, and OMG this series debut did not disappoint!! We get everything that we’ve come to expect from this up and coming author: sexy scots, supportive family, inner demons that have to be overcome, and sexual tension through the roof. Lennox’s dark, broody, yet righteous personality is the perfect counterpart to Isobel’s wild, impulsive, yet vulnerable one. When these two collide, it’s explosive and addictive.
Like all her other titles, I highly recommend Hard Nox! Especially if you like your men from the highlands!
Hard Nox (Wild Scots #1) by Jolie Vines is a contemporary, new adult, enemies to lovers romance with a pinch of second chance. It’s told in first person, dual POV and is the first in the Wild Scots series a spinoff from the Marry the Scot series featuring the next generation. This is a standalone, so you don’t need to read those first, but if you enjoy this book, you won’t be disappointed by going back to the beginning with the Marry the Scot series.
I loved the first generation Scots, and this second generation is just as entertaining. Lennox and Isobel’s story hooked me right away. I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading it in one sitting. There was action, suspense, angst, excitement, drama, and romance – both sweet and steamy. This book gave me “all the feels.” I highly recommend this page-turner!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
This was the first book I read by Jolie but definitely NOT my last. I enjoyed this book so much that I am now reading through the Original Scots series that this book came from. Lennox and Isobel just suck you in from page 1. Their families have always been close and you can see the love and friendship between the entire group. Isobel at the beginning of the book is full of teenage girl and angst along with self esteem issues due to some things that are out of her control. Lennox is older and about to leave on military duty and during the opening situation sees Isobel in a totally different light. They seem to be in a perpetual state of misunderstandings and messed up situations until Lennox finally sets things straight. Lennox has a fight to overcome Isobel’s internal issues to try and get her to acknowledge what he along with the reader already know – underneath everything she wants him forever. Lennox is a born leader & takes his responsibilities seriously whereas Isobel is more of a feisty dare devil & adrenaline junkie, so they compliment each other fabulously. You meet other family members and friends along the way & get just as caught up with them, I cannot wait to see how their stories pan out. By the end of the book, both Isobel and Lennox have matured in all areas along with familial relationships. Their journey made me laugh, want to cry, roll my eyes…just gave all the “feels”. I didn’t want this book to end, so I’m more than ready for book 2. I have a countdown going until release day. GREAT JOB JOLIE!!!

Who doesn’t love a man with a big … tank?
Cue all the swoons for Lennox McRae! His patient and stalwart faith in his connection with Isobel guides this beautiful romance to its stunning conclusion. Isobel is a delightful heroine, a feisty pixie with more attitude than all the McRae cousins combined. Lennox is a huge chip off the old block, proven to be a Man Who Gets Things Done even at his relatively young age. Like his father, he’s a commanding presence who is easily knotted up by the woman who holds his heart.
It’s a delicately plotted story, one that is careful to fan the flames of their intense chemistry while still holding back until their hearts and minds are in the right place to allow for a truly combustible pairing. These two young people have known each other their entire lives, yet once they start to see each other from a new perspective, it’s an eye-opening and heart-stopping experience.
As the first in the new generation of our favorite Scottish family, this book catches us up with both the old guard and the new cast of cousins. We get to know a little about Isobel’s brother, Seb, and Lennox’s sister, Skye, and their friendship that is both more and at the same time less than either one wants. Viola, as the daughter of Gordain and Ella, is the cousin that connects the Fitzroy and McRae families. Blayne, Cameron, and Cait are also introduced and I’m looking forward to getting to know all of these characters more in the series’ future books.
It’s the sign of a brilliant author that this book has so much heart, heat, family history, and heartwarming emotional depth. And the grand gesture at the end was truly the icing on the cake. This is a fabulous addition to one of my all-time favorite series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Another great read by Jolie Vines! Not only does she bring the Hot and Steamy scenes to life in her pages with the alpha men and their lass but it was also packed with so much action. I loved how perfect Lennox and Isobel were for each other. I loved all the secondary characters. Excellent book with an ending that has me dying for Skye’s book now. We need Perfect Storm now.
Hard Nox is an incredible book! I loved it! The characters are amazing. Lennox and Isobel are perfect together and steamy Hot! The book is well written and with great depth. It is full of action, adventure and excitement. The book is so engaging you can’t put it down. I really enjoyed getting to see the characters from the Marry the Scot series as parents to their adult children and the family interactions. I love this new generation series!
They grew up together; their families were close. He went away to serve his country and now that he’s back he wants her. Good read and romance.

Very well written with an easy to follow growth of characters. The story flow is smooth between the ups and downs, and heats up wonderfully.
Recommend
This is my first by this author and it was a really good story, well written and plenty going on to keep you reading more..
I think I have a new obsession for men in kilts look forward to reading more.
Happily Ever After with two stubborn people, it had some moments of drag but otherwise was good. Needs a bit more Irish for me but then I love the accent.
Gah! It’s seriously hard not to fall in love with Jolie’s Scots! Lennox McRae is a mountain of a man and just my style. I love that he’s the future of the McRae clan and he’s pretty responsible, but has a wild side. Little Isobel is a spitfire in everything she does. That includes racing cars and fixing cars. I loved this little pixie mixing it up in a man’s world. Isobel starts out the story unsure of herself and her place, but gains confidence as the events unfold. Nox has had his heart and his eyes on Isobel for years and he’s determined to make her his. This book was a wild ride. Hard Nox was super steamy and gave me ALL of the things I love about the Wild Scots! I can’t wait to read about Skye next! 4 stars
Such an amazing book, I was sucked in from start… having read Marry the Scot series, to now reading about their children, they just get better and better.
The heat from Nox and Isabel is off the charts… I loved them as a couple, they compliment each other..
Can’t wait for next in series…
5 yours-mine stars! Loved this book!
“Sharing a space with Isobel did strange things to my heart – and my body in general.”
Lennox McRae and Isobel Fitzroy have known each since they were children, as they have a family connection. An unexpected frisson and a stolen kiss when Isobel is 16 and Lennox is 18, and about to join the army, haunts them both for four years. When Lennox is back home for good, he’s finally able to do something about it, but the path to their HEA is pitted with misunderstanding and not a little hotheadedness!
“A whomp of heat hit me. The attraction I’d been almost sure was one-sided turned into clear, keen chemistry.”
Who knew that Lennox McRae would be such a dirty talker?! He’s got all the makings and promise of being a commanding clan chief. From the moment the spark lit between them as teenagers to when they finally meet properly again as adults, the sizzling chemistry between them was a tangible thing. Lennox really stole my heart with his determination and solid intentions toward Isobel, and how he made her feel like the most beautiful and precious thing in the world to him. I loved his devotion to her.
“Isobel was a rollercoaster ride, and I could barely hold on for dear life. I’d break stuff for her. I’d tear myself to shreds for her.”
Isobel was a firecracker of a woman. She’s pretty tough, independent and determined to thrive in a male-dominated world. I loved her drive and her passion. My heart hurt for her vulnerability, but Lennox raised her up and made her realise her self-worth and what she meant to him.
I started this series with the second book but so glad I’ve caught up now, especially as we meet Blayne properly in this story. I can’t wait for the final book now, which is his story.
Modern Alpha Scot and His Speed Demon
4.5 Stars!
Based on the age of the characters, it’s probably New Adult, but still had some maturity to it. It also had a few other things I really liked: a brawny Highlander in a kilt, a lady mechanic, super cars, dramatic comeuppance, and a grand romantic gesture.
