Visiting with the Garlucci family is always an experience. One I have come to enjoy and look forward to. With the arrival of Carlita’s daughter-in-law Brittney, as well as her two bodyguards, Rico and Luigi, chaos descends upon their household. Brittney is high maintenance and very pregnant. Her husband Vinnie, as well as her father felt, Brittney would be safer with Carlita until they had control of a “family” situation. Trouble escalates when an argument breaks out between Brittney and one of Carlita’s tenants. Throw into the mix gang activity, a murder, “family” connections, and the disappearance of her neighbor Elvira, Carlita has her hands full!
This is a fast-paced, enjoyable cozy mystery! Ms. Callaghan’s descriptions invite you into the Garlucci’s life, home, and business. She keeps her characters real and the plot moving! There are always plenty of suspects to keep you on your toes, and an excitement that keeps you reading! Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better. I am already looking ahead to the next book in this series. I received this copy as a gift and the opinions are my own.
Carlita begins this adventure with her pregnant daughter-in-law, Brittney, visiting along with her two body guards, Luigi and Rico. Brittaney’s husband Vinnie and her father Veto, felt Brittney would be safer with Carlita while they took care of a “family situation” at the casino. As if that is not enough excitement Carlita’s temporary tenant and Brittney have a HUGE personality clash, but that’s not all! Reese, Carlita’s friend has a gang called “The Savannah Six” causing trouble on the trolly she drives resulting in a passenger being injured and Reese hurt, but not seriously. Thanks to Carlita and Tony’s brisk intervention the culprits are caught.
Things get worse when the next day the gang leader is found murdered across the street from Carlita’s home and business’s. There are lots of suspects because of how offensively the gang treated local residents and tourists. However, the prime suspects, Luigi and Rico, who are seen on a security camera have to go into hiding. Carlita assured the men are innocent decides to covertly investigate. With the help of Reese, and Steve-the owner of the local tattoo shop the search grows more intense! To top it off Elvira, Carlita’s friendemy ex-tenant and now neighbor is behaving very oddly and does a disappearing act, along with all the cash from one of her business accounts!
Added to all the disastrous things happening Hope Callaghan adds a bit of spicy romance. I won’t say who is involved in the romance-you have to read the book to find out!
In the way that only Ms Callaghan can capture your attention I found “Turmoil In Savannah” exhilarating, yet exhausting as I felt like I was right there with Carlita during this fast paced read! I am so looking forward to the next installment in this series!
This was an awesome mystery with a man being murdered in Carlita it’s neighborhood. I love how she works her way around clues sorting the mystery out.
