Lazarus County has yet to be tamed. There’s drought, bandits, and natives to contend with. People have moved out there hoping to better themselves, have a chance at the kind of life they could never hope for back East. The town of Gilgamesh, the county seat, offers plenty of people second chances. One of those people is Dr. Abel Winston.Abel arrives in Gilgamesh on the very first train. A newly … first train. A newly qualified doctor, fresh from university, he is excited about his new life, and hopes that New Mexico will provide him with new challenges and ways to use his knowledge than a ‘dull’ job in a hospital back in Boston. However, he finds a small town, with small town medical needs. He thinks about leaving, until he sees an advertisement in the brand new local newspaper The Gilgamesh Herald requesting help on the Mescalero Apache Reservation. Disease has become rife, and the missions have long gone.
The advertisement is placed by Jeannette Reynolds, the Mayor’s niece. Expecting the danger and warlike nature of the Arizona Apache, Abel is again let down by their peaceful way of living – but the work is challenging and it means he gets to spend time with Jeanette. At first, he finds her too bold, too brash and very unfeminine. But, the more they work together, he sees her in a new light, and begins to fall for her. However, her parents want her to marry the son of another newspaper owning family, to expand their empire.

Mission of Mercy is book 6 In The Bride’s Of Lazarus County series. This story is based around a young girl that suffered a horrible injury in a stage coach accident that left her crippled. Since then no young man would even look at her to marry. But she made friends with the Indians that found the stage coach and took all the passengers to their village and cared for them. That was why Jeanette could walk some days with only a cane. But her heart wanted to build the Indians a hospital and have a doctor to come to help teach them medicine and she wanted to teach the children and any adults to read and write. She sent out an ad in the newspaper for assistance getting this done. Abel accepted the position to help teach the Indians his type of medicine and he also learned how to treat patients using the Indian methods. A building to be used for a hospital was built with a section to be used for a school. Abel found way more working with the Indians as he found his bride to be. He could not be more happy for his decision to take the job to work with the Indians.
Mission of Mercy – Brides of Lazarus County Book Six” by Amber Seraph is a tale of one Dr. Abel Winston…the Gilgamesh Herald has requested assistance with an outbreak of disease at the Mescalero Apache Reservation…and Dr. Winston was just the one to fill such a request. However the request was made by Jeannette Reynolds, the Mayor’s niece…who owed a debt to the Nataina Indians …and she was quite headstrong in her manner & particular about their care during this sickness. Even so the two hit it off …Will they find a HEA?!? Read and see. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.

Jeanette Reynolds had suffered very bad injuries sustained in a wreck of a stagecoach. The driver was trying to outrun a cyclone and the coach had hit a mile marker in the dark. All were injured as the coach overturned. The Nataina Indians found them and took care of them until help arrived. Now Jeanette wants to help them in return/
Dr. Able Winston is a doctor from Boston, who came to NM at the request of Mayor Reynolds, who happens to be Jeanette’s uncle. Life seems too tame for him until he reads an ad in the newspaper asking for a doctor to help with the Apaches. After his disappointment in finding there will not be fighting and wars to see, he finds he enjoys the work.
This is a very good and well-written story and great characters. I recommend this book to all who like good clean reading and happy ever afters.

I loved this short sweet story of a woman who had been in a terrible accident and wanted to give back to the indigent souls who helped her. To do so she enlists the help of a physician who moved from the city to the western front to care for those in a small town but who was missing the excitement of city medicine. The two connect in more ways than one. HEA with a clean romamce.

The newest installment.
This is the newest installment of the Brides of Lazarus County in this book you will meet Dr. Able Winston who came to Gilgamesh right out of school. He expected one thing and got something else while working in Gilgamesh. When he sees an ad for help on the Apache reservation he sees this as a challenge and contacts Jeannette. This is a very quick piece great for a break or lunch read. It is a story that proves that what you do not expect sometimes works out to be the best. I enjoyed the book and recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
As always the story is fantastic, I’m so glad to return to Lazarus County!
I have a love-hate thing going with the length of these stories.
I love that I can read them in an afternoon, but hate that they’re over so quickly! 😉
