From Kennedy L. Mitchell comes a sexy, romantic drama about an unruly, headstrong agent and the witty, stubborn woman he’s assigned to protect. Can these two set aside their hate for the other and work together to win it all? I’m in over my head, failing in their power games I don’t understand. One day I wasn’t sure I could pay the water bill for my trailer; now I’m wearing red-soled heels and … I’m wearing red-soled heels and sipping champagne, acting like I belong.
Everyone hates me. I’m alone in this hostile world until… him.
Saving me from the burning limo intertwined our destinies, whether we like it or not.
Secret Service Agent Trey Benson. Tall, dark, handsome–and hates me.
He thinks I’m like the other power-hungry socialites, desperate for his money and family name.
He’s the type of distraction I can’t risk. But he’s everywhere, always by my side wearing that damn mischievous smirk that makes me want to either slap or kiss it off his face.
Except our intense attraction grows too strong to ignore.
Stolen moments and secret nights wrapped in each other’s arms are dangerous, our hidden love affair the potential scandal I can’t afford.
Can I beat them at their own games with Trey by my side?
Or will love be the sacrifice I’m forced to make to get out of this mess alive?
Power Games is the first book in the five-book Power Play series. Each book cannot be read as a standalone. All five books follow one main couple’s relationship as it grows through a five-year time period. It’s suspenseful, steamy, and oh so unputdownable. If you’re a fan of Willow Winters, Meghan March and Skye Warren then this series is for YOU!

Ahh, politics…
Power, prestige, influence. Oh and helping your fellow man if possible, of course. And don’t forget the back-stabbing, behind the scenes wheeling and dealing and true unpleasantness that can be any rise to the top. How Randi and Trey fit into this dog eat dog world was a reading treat…
I LOVED Randi’s character. She fought her whole life for respect, to be considered worthy. She worked hard and did her very best but she just couldn’t seem to catch a break. When a bad wind blew back into town and gave her an opportunity she couldn’t resist, she ran with it all the way to the top…
Trey followed the rules and was punished anyway. And being part of Randi’s security details really did feel like punishment. Until suddenly her many facets started to surface and he was hooked. He had something new, someone worthy, to fight for…
I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author and jumped at the chance to read this story. I did go in with some reservations though. I can honestly say I’m jaded about the political sphere these days – I’m with Trey on that one. What I wasn’t prepared for was how quickly I became invested in the characters, in their struggles and how all of my attention was captured by this story. The plot was pure wacky genius and had me on #TeamRandi right away. She was going to pull off the greatest comeback ever or spiral in the most spectacular fashion. How could that not keep me at the edge of my seat? Randi was funny and quirky, who came up with the best lines in her quest to beat the man, oh and help her fellow country people at the same time. Trey? Well, he was all she needed to support and protect her six when necessary. And did I mention he was a hottie as well?
Five books in this series you say? I’m so, so ready! Randi and Trey are taking on the establishment and I am cheering them on for the win…

Awesome book by new-to-me author Kennedy Mitchell! I so enjoyed the tension and interplay between all the characters in Power Play!
I’m a huge fan of political romances anyway but Randi was a delightful breath of fresh air. She’s smart, creative, earnest and she’s well, um a little lower than the upper crust, making her the perfect person to truly represent those without a voice. She’s creating change in her small community but the opportunity to impact a larger arena is something she can’t turn down. Even boxed in, she finds a way to let her personality shine through and I loved the way she connected with people.
Especially the delicious, sarcastic and sexy secret service agent, Trey. Dubbing him “Trouble” from early in their interaction, she nailed the funny tough guy! He’s smart, a political force in his own right and altogether yummy. The heat between them was a slow build but honey, once that spark lit, the flame burned hot.
Loved everything about this book and cannot wait for book 2! Loving this exciting new voice from Kennedy Mitchell.

Kennedy L. Mitchell is a new author to me and I am so happy to have started this series with her. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when I can feel the characters dilemmas, it makes me want to read more. We all run into bullies and live through our upbringings but Randi Sawyer has the strength, sass and determination to get through life in anyway she can. I love Randi and when she meets her Security Trey, things happen neither of them had expected, but sometimes we are drawn together and the heat is so overwhelming you have to go with it. I cannot wait for what comes next.
No one. Haven’t you figured that out yet?” Anger and concern strangle my chest at the sadness in her voice. “Right place, right time. Lucky. Whore. Gold digger. Fraud.” Hazel eyes stare into my own. “Right?”
A man who can’t see past the shiny, glitzy face in front of him. A woman afraid that she’ll only ever be trailer trash.
Kennedy Mitchell’s Power Play begins, showing a beaten down woman who thinks she’s never going to be seen for her true self, and a man so bored by the status quo in Washington that he’s creating situations at work. The only problem with creating situations at work is that Trey is a Secret Service agent, assigned to protect the vice president.
When Randi is approached by someone with an offer that’s part bribery/part scam she knows she might never win, but she might never again have the opportunity to set her daughter free from a lifetime of judgement and persecution.
Can they work side by side without killing each other or falling into bed any spare second? Time will only tell.
An excellent foray into the delicate balance of power in Washington, steamy sexy times, and a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more right now! 4.5 stars for this hot, suspenseful treat from Kennedy Mitchell, I can’t WAIT to see what happens next!
This book shows a character who came from a broken home and despite all the name calling she endured as a teen. She was pushed herself to make herself better. Yes she got knocked up but she was determined to get what she wanted. She may have lived in other towns but she returned back home to help others out. She was put in position that because of the desperation she was feeling, she was put in the lion’s den. Things change with the plans.. Meeting Trey and spending time with him, makes her realize her worth and how much she should push to make this happen. Her running partner wants things down a certain way but soon she finds out truth and makes a name for herself. Troubles come her way and she handles it with grace. She has the upper hand though. She doesn’t back down and let the lions take her down. Randi was a great character and she shown her strength throughout the book. She was awesome! I can’t wait to get more of their story and find out what happens next with them!

Wonderful new read! Never read a book from K. Mitchell before and it won’t be the last. Have to admit I’m not a fan of political/romance tropes; this I didn’t mind so much. In fact I loved it.
We begin the story with main characters Randi and Trey. Randi has had a hard upbringing; drug addicted parent (Mom) grew up in poverty. She worked hard to escape being a cliché statistic. She’s a politician. Not your typical one. She bears many flaws and doesn’t have a filter. All in good fun though. Her character had many layers.
Layers Trey (a secret service agent) was bound to peel back. Revealing one delicious layer after another to get the core of her center. Her heart. Also, her goods. They can’t seem to break this incessant pull toward one another. But will they be able to navigate political waters, while trying to decipher where their new found relationship is going? Do yourself a favor, grab yourself a copy and find out! You won’t be disappointed.
*I received the ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I love everything about Randi – she’s been through a lot, but she’s not going down unless it’s swinging. The title is completely fitting and you can’t help but cheer her on as she navigates this ugly man’s world full of pitfalls and boobytraps for anyone not in the inner circle. Trey… oh Trey. You think you know but you don’t and it’s adorable. He’s fierce and gorgeous and everything a book boyfriend should be. Together, this couple will be UNSTOPPABLE.
I cannot recommend this read high enough, and I can’t wait until Power Twist goes live!
