The code of the family makes her mine to protect, but I will make her mine in every way.I moved across the world to escape my need for her. Then my brother’s death left her a widow.I gave her time to grieve, but now I will take what is mine.I didn’t belong to him. He claimed me anyway. He had no right to strip me, scold me, and spank me like a naughty little girl. There shouldn’t be a wet spot on … girl.
There shouldn’t be a wet spot on the couch where he bent me over the arm and belted me.
But there is… and we both know that when he makes me his, I’ll be screaming his name.
Publisher’s Note: Rockland is a stand-alone sequel to Bronson and Carter. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

OMG, have I ever had more empathy for two people in a book before? Probably not. Tess has lost her best friend, her lover, her husband, her rock. Quite frankly, Tess lost her everything when Brett had his heart attack. To make matters worse, Bronson has enacted The Hierarchy and called in Rockland. Poor Rockland. Talk about being put in between a rock and a hard place. Not only is he a brother by Bachman family loyalty but Brett was his brother by blood. So not only did he lose his brother but now, according to Bachman code, he is responsible for his sister-in-law’s protection, well-being, and guidance because once a Bachman wife is for life. And then let’s add the topper to this emotional rollercoaster, shall we? Rockland has been in love with Tess since the day he met her and chose not to act on his feelings and stay away. Now he has no choice. This was such an emotional story for me, feeling empathy for both of them and for the family as a whole. Shanna Handel has brought her A-game with this storyline and I can’t wait to read the “Virgin” next.
I read this via ku and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is part of a series and characters from previous books appear but it can be read as a standalone. While it is a “mafia” book, think more good guys with mushy hearts vs violent, evil, criminal masterminds.
Triggers: spanking, domestic discipline
**spoilers**
Rockland has been attracted to his brothers wife since they were married so he prefers to avoid her.
Tess, her husband Brett dies and according the Brotherhood, it is up to Rockland to take Tess in hand.
The book spans over 2 years following the death of Brett.
Tess grew up poor but has turned into a bratty, sometimes whiney snob. Rockland is a very alpha man and turns Tess over his knee right from the get go to get her in line. Lots of back and forth. HEA
Chemistry between the two is believable, the sexy times are well written. Rockland eventually ends up in charge and gives Tess an important position in the brotherhood.
Nope. That does not work for me at all. If this truly was the mafia, this spoiled, bratty woman would not be in a position in the brotherhood other than as arm candy.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. 4 stars for the overall story and Rockland. 3 stars for Tess.
Rockland is the stand alone sequel to Bronson and Carter, members of the Bachman family. Tess is self destructing and drowning in grief after her husband Brett’s death. His brother Rockland is also grieving him, but at the same time, can no longer ignore his feelings for Tess and when she puts herself at risk one to many times, he knows he has to take control to ensure her safety.
This is a really sweet story, you can not only feel the characters chemistry and attraction to each other, but the confusion and guilt over wanting one another.
This is a d/s romance and has spanking and sexual elements. This is my favorite Bachman story so far.

This is another book about the Bachman’s and their way of life. This is a page turning and high heat. Rockland and Tess are thrown together as Tess loses her husband and Rockland steps in to take care of her in every way. Tess starts to lose her way after her husband dies by drinking, not eating, hiding from all the other family members of the Bachman families. Rockland has always loved Tess and when he takes control their relationship sizzles. The Bachman families live the lifestyle of dominate husbands, discipline, spanking, punishments, and submissive wives. Highly recommend the complete series. Can’t wait for more. We are back in the Village with the Bachman mafia family. Brett, her beloved husband, is gone and she is finding it hard to survive. In the family when your man dies, there is someone waiting in the wings to take his place so his wife is taken care of and protected. All Tess knows is that Rockland has always looked like she was trash and she doesn’t need him. All he knows is that Tess hates him, but he will take care of her forever. One spanking at a time if need be. As usual, a good Handel read. Spanking romance. A standalone although, why not read them all?

I’m not sure how I felt about this book. Rockland and Teas had great chemistry. It weirded me out a bit because Tess was his brother’s wife.
The way the Bachman’s live suggests a level of intimacy that doesn’t seem like you would want to engage in with your brother in law.
Tess seemed kind of fiery and independent at the beginning. After she fell in love with Rockland, her fire fizzled out.
It was ok. It took me a while to get through it. One thing about this book was that there didn’t seem to be as much time spent outside of the Village as in previous books. I think it would be interesting to have a book about the Parish, the Hamlet, or both.
