Langley Vaughn is in desperate need of a date. But not just any date. She’s looking for a date to the wedding from hell. It isn’t every day you’re forced to be in the bridal party while your first love marries your archnemesis…otherwise known as the world’s worst stepsister. The entire situation is a nightmare, and Langley is sick and tired of taking orders and forcing a fake smile. She’s done … smile. She’s done being the bad guy when she was the one who was wronged.
She needs to find a date who’s not afraid of her family’s money…someone willing to shake things up. She needs someone outside of her normal social circle, someone ready to go to war with the well-to-do. She needs someone who won’t back down. Someone willing to play the complicated game of tug-of-war she’s been engaged in with her family for years.
Never in a million years did she think she was going to stumble across her very own heroic heartthrob when she set her crazy plan in motion.
Not only does Iker show up for her time and time again, he also forces her to finally fight for herself.
He says he’s only there for the money…but his actions speak so much louder than his words.
Iker Alvarez would do anything and everything to get his hands on some quick cash.
Not just any cash, but enough to make sure his younger brother gets into the college of his dreams.
Thank goodness for a desperate, pretty little rich girl with too much money and her heart set on an outrageous scheme. Being in the right place at the right time might just be the answer to both of their prayers—and this smart soldier has never let a golden opportunity slide by.
Iker doesn’t mind coming to Langley’s rescue and being her plus-one…as long as the price is right.
Only, he didn’t plan on liking the blonde socialite as much as he does. He is totally unprepared for the pull he feels toward her, coupled with his growing desire to protect her from the vultures and villains living under the same roof.
He wants to be the guy who keeps her safe and gives her the courage she obviously needs to fight back… But someone else, someone far more powerful and influential than Langley’s wealthy family, has dibs on Iker’s time and on his future. He knows he isn’t the guy Langley can count on in the long run, but damn, if he doesn’t want to do everything in his power to be that man.

Loved this book! Just swoops you in and rips your heart out. Cant wait to read book 2.
“If you’re the one holding the pen, you’re the one in charge of how the story ends. Don’t forget that, Ike.”
“Call this what it is. What it was. An eclipse. A comet. Whatever. Something raw and rare that only comes around once in a lifetime that changes you—and then leaves.“
“ But when I sleep, in those moments when I lose control of my thoughts, I know I’ll be here again, sitting at this table. In my nightmares, I’ll walk out the door, just like I’m about to do. In my dreams, I’ll still be in that bed with you.”
Wow ! I really loved this book. Langley and lker hooked me right from the start. Can’t wait to read Boy In Luv
I had been waiting a while to read or listen to this one. I finally used an Audible credit to buy it and I did enjoy it, although it was short and had a cliffhanger ending. I probably won’t get to the second part until my Audible membership starts up again in April. My only complaints were that while the female narrator had a good voice, she sometimes paused at weird moments. I’ll be eager to find out how book 2 will pick up, and I have to say that this was good even if a bit predictable.
Girl in Luv & Boy in Luv by Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros a truly magical pair of stories. I have chosen to review these as a duet together as I read them one after the other and just simply adored them the ebb and flow of the story just competed me, as soppy and stupid as that sounds, I have had these on my TBR pile for ages, and I am kicking myself so hard that I didn’t sink my teeth in sooner. Langley Vaughn what a woman, I would gladly fall in love with you myself, she doesn’t let the money and privilege that she comes from to define her and spoil her, the we meet Iker Alvarez and my heart just grew even bigger. These could have easily been spoiled rich girl meets boy from the wrong side of the tracks and they have a relationship that is two fingers to everyone, but these are so much more than that original story. These stories go so much deeper, and have a much more compelling story, one that I can’t do justice for in only a review. This duet is one that everyone needs to read, I was a huge fan of Rebecca Yarros but hadn’t read anything by Jay Crownover but you can guarantee that it wont be that way for long, as I think I have just found another amazing author to add to y growing list.
Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros are my new favorite power writing team! There was humor and angst and while we didn’t see a happily for now or a happily ever after in this book, I’m desperately hoping we see it in Boy in Luv. Absolutely loved Iker and Langley and the bond that was created between them in the six days they knew each other.
This is a great book, part one in the “In Luv”duet, easy to read, well written with main characters you will love and supporting characters you will love to hate. Langley was looking for a date to her stepsister’s wedding…not a polite charming date, but a date that would shake things up. In a dingy bar looking for a potential candidate to be her date, she meets Iker and he saves her when trouble hits. They forge a mutually satisfying arrangement.
Iker is real, honest, sexy, loyal and all man. There are two sides to Langley…the fake, plastic version, armor she wears as a shield when dealing with her family and the confident, sexy, relaxed woman, who laughs and teases easily with Iker. Langley and Iker’s chemistry is off the charts and it is great to see Langley grow in confidence with Iker at her side. Their agreement has an end date it wasn’t meant to be forever, but what happens when feelings get in the way? “She’d fallen into my life exactly when I needed her, but the timing couldn’t be worse. The irony of that was incredible.” Their story is concluded in the second book “Boy in Luv.” Highly Recommended.
Langley walks into a bar in an area that is not her norm in an attempt to find a man to be her date to her step-sisters wedding. To her first love. Awkward. She wants to find a guy that will ruffle some feathers since no one seems to give a damn about her feelings. She meets Iker who agrees to be her date for the week because he needs the money that Langley is offering to pay for his younger brother’s college tuition. What is the harm? He is being deployed at the end of their paid week together and he will never see her again. Hang out with a beautiful girl for a week all expenses paid plus $10K for his brother’s education. Win win. Neither one of them expected to fall for the other. But did they.
I adored how Xavier fought for Langley and made everyone who tried to put her down feel like they were inches tall. Even if he was the tattooed Army dude from the wrong side of the tracks. It was amazing to see her have someone in her corner when all her life she had no one. Not even her dad, the only real family she had left. I adored how Xavier made her realize that she was worth fighting for. That she was worth standing up for herself. I adored how Langley didn’t care which side of the tracks Iker came from. Sure she hired him because of that but she ended up seeing past all of that and seeing him and falling for him and be damned if anyone said anything negative about him. Despite only knowing each other for a week and being complete opposites they were complete perfects that met at the wrong time. Xavier had to leave for his next tour and let’s just say major cliffy happens here. I hate them but was lucky enough to find this book once the duet was complete. I adored Xavier and Langley and cannot wait to see how their story unfolds. Highly recommend this one but I will always say the ending makes or breaks it for me, so here is to hoping the ending holds up.
I really enjoyed this story. Fake romance turned real. Strangers meeting with a payout and deadline. Deadline appears and destroys them both. But the deadline for one is something serious and potentially life altering. But that week? Life altering for them both. Girl in Luv…
Now it’s time for Boy in Luv
What do you get when you have two bestselling authors come together in a duet, you get magic. In Book 1 of Girl in Luv we see a young woman at a point where she feels caged in and lost. Then we have a young man determined to see his brother get the life he deserves at any cost. Two people from the opposite side of life see that they actually have something in common they never expected. I loved how Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros came together in this book you can see their talent with Iker and Langley. You can see how shy and scared Langley is at well her life right now. Then you have Iker who is everything she needs in her life but is scared to let go and just well feel. Loved it cannot wait for what Iker does in book 2.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
wow a bad boy and a rich girl. But they are not what the seam. He is out to make sure his family is taken care of. She needs help to keep her step sister and step mom in line for her step sisters wedding. They wont see him coming. This book kept me on my toes. I so do not like her step mom and step sister ugh those two are not nice. Loved this book!!!
WOW what a story. Not your typical rich girl meets bad boy. There were immediate sparks. Langley and Iker met and the chemistry was off the charts. But is forever in the cards or just a pipe dream? Now I’m reading Boy in Luv again.
I absolutely loved Riker and Langley!! Riker oh my!!! He’s more than Langley thought at first and Langley is more than he thought. Even though they are from two different worlds will they be able to see their way through everything they have standing in their way?
Betrayal never looked more unappetizing than when it swirled around Langley Vaughn. Imagine your first love leaving you for another. Then picture that betrayal with the eyes of your step-sister looking back at you. Now – imagine a wedding on the horizon that you are expected to be involved in because that step-sister is not only family, but she wants to rub the whole relationship in your face. This is the reality that Langley is facing with the upcoming nuptials.
How can you overcome the irritation of such an event? Langley has decided that she needs a date for the wedding that will set tongues wagging. A gentleman who is the complete opposite from any of the men in Langley’s social circles is definitely the answer. Was it too much for Langley to ask?? In an effort to find the one that would certainly be the talk of the town, Langley sets out to find ‘Mr. Right’. Who would have thought such a man was possible? Langley is about to find out what money can buy, and the ramification of choosing a man that was the opposite from everything that she had ever encountered.
Girl in Luv is collaboration from authors Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros. Both are my ‘go to’ authors for me, so I couldn’t wait to see what was in store with this duet. Langley is the type of character that has you rooting for the quest of a happy ending. After all – can any of us imagine what it takes to face a step-sibling that is marrying your ex?? Langley is portrayed as a lot more forgiving than I ever imagine I could be in the same situation. Empathy for the character oozes through the pages as the story unfolds.
Let’s talk about Iker Alvarez……talk about a gentleman in uniform!! Iker ends up being in the right place at the right time when Langley is looking for her ‘Mr. Right’. Everything about this man screams that he is a keeper. The way Iker handles the wedding and Langley’s acquaintances left me desperate to learn more about this tattered soul. Simply put…..Iker was definitely the guy that I could picture with Langley for the long haul.
As the two characters spend more time together, their attraction grows stronger by the minute. Where will it all lead once their time together has come to an end?? Only time will tell what road the two will travel. It’s a journey that I can’t wait to delve into a bit more!!
Part 1 of an amazing In Luv Duet by to great authors. I loved Langly and Iker together so different but the way they make the other better. Quick fun steamy read Loved it!!! Dived right into next book
This was such a fun duet!
Langley is gorgeous, rich and basically Cinderella when it comes to engaging with her family. She needs a pretend boyfriend to attend her stepsister’s wedding with her. The extra little bit? The groom to be is her ex. Iker needs some money and so begins their arrangement.
This was an instantly engaging story and you can’t help but feel the smoldering tension between these two characters immediately. Deny deny deny from both of them but we all know this isn’t going to be over after the week ends! Iker is a genuine nice guy. Motivations are coming from the right place. Langley needs a spine, but she too is trying to do what she thinks is right. Add in some steamy fake-dating-turned-real romance and some bad decisions and you’ve got the first half of this duet!
Highly recommend!
These two authors collaborating is pure genius! I have read and loved Jay Crownover but I haven’t read Rebecca Yarros before I will be now. Their writing together flows beautifully and I was captivated from beginning to end and very happy I was able to read the duets back to back.
I loved Langley and Iker, their connection was off the charts hot and undeniable, add in the steam and it was the perfect match. Langley is strong and beautiful and Iker is hot, caring and swoon-worthy. They both come from different worlds but compliment each other beautifully.
I can’t wait to read the second duet Boy in Luv easpecially with the way this one ended.
In Luv Duet Review:
I absolutely loved reading the In Luv Duet by Jay Crownover & Rebecca Yarros. Both books are quick reads you will devour. Langley needs a date for the wedding from hell. Langley is really likable. She is strong, beautiful and determined. When she meets Iker, he is willing to help her. He is caring and devoted and is willing to help Langley, as he needs the money. But what happens when they share more than either expected when they come from very different worlds?
In the first book, we see how Iker and Langley meet and what happens between them. Their attraction is undeniable and steamy. Then we see what happens after those events in the second book. Can they find their way back to each other? I loved Langley and Iker and seeing their journey unfold.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
