Things aren’t always as they seem. This is a reoccurring theme, in life.
Selene is studious, sweet, a little shy. Cole is gorgeous, athletic, a jerk and becoming or is an alcoholic.
Family matters. Divorces are very prevalent today and they do affect the family. How we react can be out of character.
This is a delicious book that deals with these circumstances. Loved the book!

I ranked this five stars but it keeps deleting that.
The Hearts We Break
Hot, Bad Boy Cole
-‘I absolutely definitely wasn’t in love with him. No way. I could not be in love with Cole Parsons.’-
-‘Cole wasn’t the total bad boy he projected to be. Maybe he had an image to protect. But today he’d shown me a hint that he was slightly human.’-
I thought, when I picked up this book, that this was a new-to-me author (I read, on average, about a book every other day so it’s hard to keep track). But as I began reading, I quickly realized that some of the secondary characters were very familiar to me and I remembered I had read some of her work previously. The author does a great job of explaining the characters to her audience so we aren’t lost but she leaves out just enough to entice the reader to want to go back and read the backstories of those characters. This is a series that can be read as standalone books, but, as always, these books are always best read in order.
This is a clean teen romance without any swearing. I liked the story and would recommend it.
Ooh. An energizing and engaging bad boy romance! I wasn’t expecting this when I guess the neighbor boy would be Sel’s book counterpart. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance and am excited for more.
Rating:
This was a fun one. What I mean is that the whole story was incredible all together. The characters were magical. While the heroine didn’t have any harsh problems, she was such a good character. She was considerate, forgiving, and kind. Even if she was scared of something, she went forward with the thought of helping a friend. The hero, while I didn’t like him much in the starting, I grew to appreciate him. He was a wonderfully constructed character. With lots of layers. I loved getting to know what was going inside his head at times. I loved the deep meaning of alcohol here. I like that it wasn’t portrayed as just a go-to thing but something that held true meaning. I loved that the car crash made so many people grow.
The story follows Selina. She is a good student, has a great group of friends, hates driving, and is a bit shy. She has new neighbours after the Singhs moved out. They are absolutely obnoxious. At least Cole is. He is her age and goes to the private school in a rich area. They’ve downgraded after some family issues. Cole’s younger brother becomes friends with Selina’s younger siblings and his mother becomes friends with her mother. None of her family like Cole much though. He has loud parties, doesn’t take care of his brother, is rude and arrogant. He’s a bad boy that’s for sure. Selina knows there is more to him. She’s seen a couple of his good parts when he smiles or does something nice. But he still isn’t a good guy.

Great storyline. Easy to follow.the main characters had great chemistry. Loved the great circle of friends Selena had.
This is a sweet and very enjoyable read. Perfect for a quiet afternoon and can be easily read in one sitting. What I love most about Kylie Key’s writing is that it keeps me chuckling. Selina is painfully shy and awkward around Cole Parsons, but she expresses her ineptitude with humor that is charming and relatable. Selina and Cole’s story deals with a broken family, and yeah, how hearts get broken along the way. Despite Cole’s anger and subsequent bad behavior, Selina sets her ego to one side and puts her heart on the line to help him. The story pulls in characters from previous books, who play an active part the plot. It’s a tight knit group of BFFs that accepts and absorbs each new boyfriend in turn. An very entertaining read.
This book is fiction. However, I would bet most teen girls have ex’s most of the unsure feelings, embarrassed and believing you are the only one who doesn’t have firm plans for the future! The true to life of how Stella feels around Cole is hilarious, but spot on.
A wonderful and clean book that also deals with some of life’s difficult times that families sometimes go through.
Cute story for any age, but targeted towards teen and young adult. Interesting and well-written storyline that keeps your attention til the end with its twists. The characters are all realistic and engaging with problems that we or someone we know have encountered.
