As a girl from the wrong side of the tracks and the wrong lion pride, I’m used to scraping by.It’s hard enough looking after my brother who’s going nowhere and my dad who started drinking when my mom died and hasn’t stopped. But being under the thumb of Blake, a brutal alpha who won’t leave me alone, doesn’t make it any easier. When I share one night with Luca, the captain of St. Dominic’s hockey … captain of St. Dominic’s hockey team, The Cougars, and an alpha of a pride that has feuded with mine for generations, I think that’s all it is: one night.
Luca is kind, strong, and beautiful. He’s also way too good for me.
One night.
That’s it.
But then I get pregnant.
If I seek asylum with Luca’s pride, I can leave my sad, hard life behind and Blake won’t be able to say a thing about it.
It’s the perfect solution to all my problems.
Except that Luca isn’t the father…Blake is.
One lie and my life is fixed.
No one will ever know…right?

Yep, very excited to read another one of this author’s series. This is the first book in the Hockey Playing Shifter Dads series. This book is Luca and Chloe’s story. Talk about kicking the series off with a bang. This story has so much going on but there is a good amount of back story to make you feel like you are up to speed and ready to join the ride along with the characters. There is a lot of emotions to be experienced while reading this book as you read along and get to know the characters while their layers are peeled away. Another great, well written story with a shifter twist to keep things a little more interesting. I cannot wait to get to know a few more of these secondary characters a little more. Enjoy!

This is the start of a new series about the St. Dominic Cougars and this first book is about Luca the hockey playing captain. It is a short read that leaves you wanting more can’t wait for the stories of the other lions on the team.
Chloe belongs to a clan of puma’s that never looked after anyone but themselves her brother has a chance at getting out if he can only show how well her can play hockey but the clan alpha Blake won’t let him play He is willing to give brother a chance but Chloe will be the one to pay the price because he wants her Then she meets Luca the captain of the local hockey team and the attraction between them is intense will she give up her chance at happiness to help her brother You will have to read to see what happens.
Good story – this was about Chloe and her family who was struggling under a mean alpha. She met a stranger (Luca) in a bsr and slept with him as they were wildly attracted to each other. A few weeks later, she traded sleeping with her alpha so her brother could be on the hockey team. She got pregnant but really didnt know who by. The story story moved along quickly and the Blake got his just rewards. I’m sure there will be more stories about this group of shifters.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Dark and Forbidden Luca’s Secret Baby by Abigail Raines is the opening story for her new Hockey Playing Lion Shifter Dads series. I enjoyed this quick read. Perfect for an anytime, need a fix, pick me up! I thought Luca and Chloe’s story was interesting, but I would have liked more back story. Don’t get me wrong, this read is entertaining and the characters are developed through the story. The whole concept of Family First for Chloe is a real thing. I just wanted more! Abigail Raines has a knack for giving you just enough to keep you satisfied, but wanting more. This series is a prime example… There are other lion shifters on the team that I also want to get to know and I’m sure their stories are coming. A fun and steamy read, definitely for Mature Readers Only!

Luca is an alpha lion shifter. He’s on a minor hockey team and lives in St Dominic. Chloe is also a lion shifter who lives in Stone River. They meet at a bar and end up having sex. Chloe leaves right away because she doesn’t think they have a chance together. Luca wants to see her again because he thinks she’s his mate. One night after one of his games she waiting for him with a surprise. I really enjoyed this book.
Lion shifters and Hockey – a whole new paranormal world
Dark and Forbidden: Lucas’ Secret Baby by Abigail Raines is a well written quick read. I’m excited by this new shifter community of Lions with all it’s characters and now Pride politics.
To introduce her readers to these Hockey playing alphas, this author starts with a rivalry and all the drama that can entail. Lucas is a to-die-for alpha who is protective and absolute goodness to his core. Chloe is a sweet heart who has had a tough time throughout her young life and just wants what is best for everyone.
Overall, this first book of this series, Hockey Playing Lion Shifter Dads, is off to a good start with an interesting and page turning plot as well as characters that hook the reader and leaving them wanting the next shifter romance.
I read an ARC of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily share my review.
To whom does she owe her loyalty and her life most? The abusive alpha of her pride? Her alcoholic and depressed dad? Lazy brother? The man she really loves?
Or does she most owe truth faith and trust to herself and her baby?
Truth will out – and twisted tales and lies only make things worse.
Action packed dark and steamy romance.
