Join the heart of the 90’s punk scene where one woman finds her tattoo-covered, bass-playing prince charming in a whirlwind rock star romance–the third spinoff novel after 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, the book that inspired the hit Netflix original series SEX/LIFE. In 1999, BB Easton met her Prince Charming. He was the tall, tattooed, wickedly handsome bass player for the up-and-coming rock band … bass player for the up-and-coming rock band Phantom Limb. But, more importantly, he was hers. She knew it the moment he flashed her that shy, dimpled smile.
And he knew it too.
Hansel “Hans” Oppenheimer wore his heart on his sleeve and poured his soul into every lyric he wrote about BB. Unlike the guys she’d dated in the past, Hans showered her with tenderness, took her places she’d never been before, and showed her the type of all-consuming love she’d thought only existed in fairy tales.
But, like any good fairy tale, her road to happily ever after was paved with challenges, and right when she least expected it . . . it forked.

A 44 Chapters Novel, Volume 3
By: BB Easton
Narrated by: Ramona Master
BB Easton delivers another delightful and heartfelt story. I love her way with words, she tells this story like a real life drama, oh wait it kind of is, a fictionalized version of a real life drama. BB works her magic on the pages and Ramona Master works her magic bringing the story and the characters to life right off those pages. This is my second BB Easton book, I am working my way thru her novels, backwards, I started with the 4th book Suit, it was great to see how she first meets Ken. You also get some more insight on Knight. This is BB and Hans’ story and what a story it is, Hans was complicated, he had his issues but he and BB were awesome together, until they weren’t. I loved how much BB came into her own in this book, loved her mother’s talk and words of wisdom near the end. I highly recommend this book, it is an adventurous ride with plenty of humor, drama, heartfelt moments and some hot ones too. BB Easton, thank you for another greatly entertaining story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Ramona Master is a talented narrator and voice performer. She gives each character their own voice and personality, it is like she becomes the character. You can hear how much heart she puts into her work, she projects the emotions of the characters into her performance as well as the drama of the story, she perfectly captures the humor too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
Star was a great read. It’s the continuation of the individual stories of the 4 men that made a big impact on BB’s life.
This story turned my head & my heart upside down. It reminded me how the love of our youth can burn so hot & fast like a supernova. How it can be so blissful & then turn into a hot mess.
Hans was able to help BB heal & find her strength. Even though it didn’t work out you can see the foundation for BB’s life forming.
I am excited for the next book, Ken’s story, right now he’s a friend and an enigma that I can’t wait to learn more about.
44 Chapters has me hooked and now hearing Hans’ story I just can’t believe it all. BB has been through so much and has experienced a lifetime of reality in such a young life. Knight is a man that I don’t think will EVER let her go and will always be in the shadows watching. Hans being the up and coming rockstar that he is had me falling for him hard and fast just like our girl. Their story is filled with so many emotions that I was pulled deep into the rabbit hole with them. Im dying for Ken’s story to come I was left in tears at the end of this one knowing what our girl has done with her life now but hearing about her past just makes it all just wow. #TeamKen all the way!
Thank you, Hans. Your love broke the spell…
Gaaahhhh! Oh how I wish I was grew up with BB. She’s had such hella good adventures!
As we know, Star is an elaboration/continuation from 44 Chapters about 4 Men. Star is about her adventures with Hans, the dreamy bass guitarist. “His bass was red, red, red…”
After a quite rocky start to her love life, BB was able to taste a bit of what true love could feel like. Hans treated her like a queen, until he didn’t. I was happy to see that BB learned her worth during her relationship with Hans.
Hans was the dreamy rocker, he was what BB needed after her horrible accident involving Harley and Knight. He put off the bad boy vibes that she felt she wanted and needed, but also the comfort and a bit of stability that she really needed. He was perfect for her, until he wasn’t and luckily BB recognized when it was time to let him go.
I loved to see BB maturity grow, but not so much that it took away from her personality and her spunk! She was responsible in her own way and it was fabulous to see it! Her humor is fantastic and her vulnerability is warranted and I so wish I had a friend like her when I was growing up!
I loved the introduction to Ken, (F..king Ken!) I cannot wait to get more into BB & Ken’s love story. I want to see what makes him tick!
BB is an amazing writer that pulls you into her words, which is amazing! When reading her stories, I feel I am in the passenger seat of her ‘Stang and holding on for dear life, laughing, screaming and smoking my cigarette with her! Thank you for your world BB! Don’t ever stop writing!!
I love 44 Chapters. I had to stop Skin and didn’t read Speed because detailed fun times with 15 and 16 year olds is my one and only hard limit. I have a 15 year old daughter so this mama gets all stabby and grossed out. But that’s just me so I skipped ahead to this book. I love me a bass player. My husband has been playing bass for over 30 years so I tell him I’m reading a book about him! I read 44 last year, I forgot how much I love B.B’s writing. I feel like I’m sitting right next to her on a couch while she’s sharing her crazy times and I’m just sitting there with my jaw on the floor. What a ride. I’m glad I picked this one up and now I can move onto Ken.
As a die-hard fan of everything BB, I had no doubt that STAR would be an exceptional read and yet another proof that she is unparalleled at what she does. From her brilliant writing style, to the effortless portrayal of the uncertainties and struggles of growing up, STAR has all the necessary elements to completely consume and mesmerize you.
Hans and BB’s relationship is like a fairy tale come true. He is the type of guy that I fell for in high school far too often so I totally understand the hypnotizing effect. Their love is passionate, all-consuming, life-altering; and precisely what BB needs to mend her broken heart and distorted perception of her true worth. Hans brought about a beautiful transformation and I loved him for that.
My feelings were constantly fluctuating from #TeamKnight to #TeamHans, and I couldn’t help but feel heartbroken for Knight on one hand and swoon over Hans’ lyrics on the other. But my huge grin when I was reading about Ken must be a sure sign that I might be switching to #TeamKen once Suit is published.
Thousands of stars for this gem!
A great installment in this series. Hans, he is such a sweet rockstar. BB, trying to navigate life and love through out this read. This story will definitely make you swoon, laugh out loud, and squeeze your heart for better and for worse. Love how this is a memoir and evolution of BB. Figuring out life and how people come in and out of it for a reason and growing from each experience. I totally recommend this read.
Loved this book. This whole series is addictive reading, It’s exhilarating and very intense.
It’s a trip down memory lane to a time when everything was much simpler. I always feel nostalgic when I read these books.
This time BB has found her Prince in the Sexy as sin Bass player Hans.
He seems to have it all and once again BB is swept off her feet.
however things never quite turn out right when her Prince turns out to be not so charming after all.
If you’ve never read these books you’re missing out on so much. Do yourself a favour and start this series today.
I’m still 100% team Knight. Hans just like Harley didn’t hold a candle to my favourite Psychotic Skinhead.
I’m very intrigued to find out if Ken can knock Knight off the top spot of BB Men. Hmmmmmm!!!! Time will tell.
I’m so excited for the next part, I seriously can not wait.
Damn, BB Easton has done it to me again. With her novel STAR, she has once again caused me to have ALL. THE. FEELS through her writing. Just read the dedications in her novels, people! They are the first indications of the amazing words that you are about to read. The recurring theme with her books is that I do not want to put them down, and when I do finish reading them I immediately feel the need to go back and read them again…and again…and again because I don’t ever want them to end! STAR is the third spinoff novel from BB’s memoir, 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN. In STAR, BB takes us on a journey through fairy tale love and adventure, with the right amount of uncertainty thrown in. If you are not familiar with BB Easton’s novels, they are largely autobiographical with name changes, combining of people/friends from her past, and exaggeration of some scenarios. In the introduction, BB states that STAR is by far the ‘truest’ novel she has written. STAR is the story of BB and Hans Oppenheimer’s love, and near combustion, at first sight. The story starts with BB on the mend mentally and physically from her terrible breakup with her previous boyfriend Harley (you really must read SPEED!)—in addition to yet another gut-wrenching relationship death with Knight, her first love. BB is fragile from her heartbreaking past with her former boyfriends, but she is getting stronger by the day. She has graduated high school early, and she feels passionate about her future career goals. I love seeing BB mature and start to realize she really does deserve more. And she’s still our fun and outgoing girl, even with her same insecurities. It is a house party where she first stumbles into Hans, with his bass guitar that was “red, red, red.” On the outside, with his “resting evil villain face,” and his dark features and sleeve of horror tattoos, Hans was scary but sexy. Their first bump into each other elicits a deep connection that is instantaneous and electric. Both BB and Hans feel the pull and ‘love at first sight’ feelings, but a misunderstanding on both sides makes them hesitate to really act on the attraction. But oh boy, when they straighten things out, they immediately jump head first into the depths of true love with some scorching physical and mental connections. BB soon learns that even with his dark appearances, Hans is the gentlest, most artistic, loving man she has ever met. And Hans does everything to show BB that she is the most beautiful, special woman he has ever met. Hans’ band starts to get some industry attention, and BB enjoys the initial party and adventure that their new found fame offers. Old insecurities and lingering self-doubt rear their ugly heads and BB’s past, in the form of Knight, comes back to haunt her. BB’s writing is so relevant, you feel it deep and understand completely the situations she writes about. I felt broken after reading the chapter about her confrontation with Knight after not seeing or hearing from him for months. Their interaction ends in another ‘stabbed through the heart’ kind of way, but BB has some earth shattering revelations about her self-worth and what love is because of it. Hans reinforces those revelations in the pure, unbridled way he loves her back. Unfortunately, the stereotypes of the rock and roll lifestyle come to fruition and Hans can’t handle, and really doesn’t deserve, the woman that BB has become and the life she wants. Towards the end of her relationship with Hans, we get to read more about BB’s introduction to Ken, her now husband! BB’s writing about those initial months of their blossoming friendship is smart and funny and we are left feeling hopeful once again! I can’t wait to dive into Ken and BB’s story in her next novel! STAR (along with all of her novels and memoir) is a must read. I give BB Easton’s novel STAR 5 humongous stars!
I loved this book. I never wanted it to end. I really loved BB’s story about Hans. It was romantic and euphoric. While a lot of things about their relationship was bad, I think she needed Hans a little bit to discover certain things about herself and to get past the things that happened with Harley and Knight. No one tells a story like BB. I love that she writes like your actually sitting there with her as she tells you about her past. I feel her personality with each page and that’s what I love the most about her books.
I also highly recommend the audiobook.
“I squinted at his beautiful, furious face in the dark, searching for a constellation amongst all the confusion. I couldn’t figure him out. I couldn’t understand why his touch felt like home when we were practically strangers to one another.”
This series has been pure gold for this 90’s kid and Star was no exception. Book BB really comes into her own in this book and the journey that the Author has taken us on has been nothing short of extraordinary!! BB has a million flaws and the humor and snark kept me flipping pages furiously to the wee hours of the night. Seeing the rise and fall of her and Hans was incredibly intoxicating. The emergence and set-up for the next book had me cheering as if I was in the stands of a stadium when your favorite team wins!! Every single book in this series has hit my top reads every time this Author hits publish!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“He was breathtakingly beautiful. High contrast as always. Black and white. Soft and hard. Smooth and spiky. And he was mine.”

This is a story about the 3rd man in BB’s life, Hans Oppenheimer.
I love this book and I really really love Hans.
He’s what all girls dream about.
He is sweet, swoony, romantic and hot
He is an amazing musician with a enormous heart and a beautiful soul.
I love this insta-love emotional story.
Their soul mates feelings and unbelievable chemistry is pouring from every page of this book (maybe not everyone, just 70% )
I was devastated that he was so weak at the end of this book.
I hope he finds his way to happiness again
BB is my favorite badass heroine ever. She is funny, sarcastic and romantic. She’s always on the lookout for love and affection, but she wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than perfect.
I love how she always stays with both feet on earth after every disappointment.
She is strong and she is a fighter, even if she sometimes doesn’t believe it herself.
Firstly you don’t just read a B.B. Easton novel, you experience the hell out of it. The ups, downs, teen angst, uncertainty, self doubt sand full on joys. The highs and lows are intense and beautiful. Her writing takes you back, when we were young and free. And as a shy, dorky, introvert I revel in the level of extra that is young B.B. She is what everyone wants to be, because she doesn’t hide who she is and what she wants. I adore this series and each is just better than the last. Because I’ll say again how often can a writer make you fall in love with an unstable skin head with anger issues? Not often… she give each of her characters depth and relatable qualities that makes you fall hard over and over.
From the very start there is this sense of excitement while you go down the rabbit hole of Knight, then Harley and now Hans. Oh Hans you sweet, sensitive soul. I have been looking forward to his story since we first met him in 44 Chapters and he did not disappoint.
I love crazy out there BB and I am intensely looking forward to the next installment. The final chapter of her “memoir” if you will. I truly believe that anyone can find enjoyment in this series, there is nothing by pure enjoyment and honestly beautiful writing.

SEX, DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL
So, STAR is Hans’ book…Hans was a real sweetheart, a gorgeous and sexy, swoon-worthy rocker who was chasing a dream not conducive to a long term relationship, and who was just too trusting, almost naive about the opposite sex…I loved Hans…and, there’s no doubt he loved BB….but he wasn’t meant to be her life partner…and he had to go…And, all along there was Ken…..I have a BIG crush on Ken….BB, too, for that matter….
Seriously, BB Easton is a straight up bada$$….The more I read of this series, the more in love with it I become…All of the books are hot and funny and I can’t put any of them down until it’s finished….Without a doubt, this is one of the best series I’ve read….Don’t take my word for it…Read it yourself…This series has already been added to my “Favorite Series List”…..Now, I’m ready for Ken’s book….
And, p.s…..Her book covers are all perfect for their books!!!
Until last week I had never heard of this author or these books. Thankfully I was tipped off by a friend. I have devoured this series. I’ve already started the last one, and honestly I’m not sure about it being over. I know she has a couple other books that I will get to, but it’s not the same. I’m still torn about Knight. I know there was a sketchy scene, but my heart still aches for him the way B.B.’s did. Hans was able to help her see that she had never been in a healthy relationship, and that she was special. Even though it didn’t last, he was pivotal to her frame of mind. I’m so excited for Ken though. I love a dry sense of humor. So very glad she met Ken. She needs him.
So here’s the deal. I hated Hans in 44 Chapters because of what he did to BB in the end. So when I read Star, I was going in skeptical. Well, like young BB I was certainly trampled by his charms.
He truly felt like her happy ending. But as a reader, we knew he wasn’t. And so the story goes…
I felt for young BB when Hans started to fuck up. I still can relate to her situation a lot throughout these books because I saw a lot of myself in the character of her teenage self. It was hard… running around searching for love because you can’t love yourself.
At the end of this book I was super excited. Because of Ken…
That motherfucker. ;-D
STAR is the continuation of a detailed saga of a young BB coming of age. This is a fascinating insight into the narrator’s journey of her kaleidoscope life. The third installment to BB Easton’s 44 Chapters about 4 Men , she now let us meet the rockstar who once caught her under his spell…until it was broken.
It is actually a pleasant gift the author gave us because with Easton sharing her story of love, loss and life, she let us travel back on her journey of finding her real prince (in a suit, lol) from one beautiful toad to another.
I love how the story continues to grow and never get dull. BB who’s still nursing a broken heart, fell fast for a rockstar who’s probably been sent to her path to give her something to cherish, along with the others, for when the time comes that she look back, there’s something to smile, laugh and even felt stupid about. Her growth can be seen here and you’ll be impressed, shocked and most of the time, feel envy of her that she gets the time of her life before settling down.
Hans , for all the badboy vibes he gives, is someone to stalk over is someone young BB needed during those times. What they had was great, but like any other relationship, some of it has to have it’s ending. For both of the parties involved, for their growth and their dreams.
BB Easton is such a lucky, lucky girl. Not everyone gets to experience a drama in their life that makes them more stronger and makes them spread their wings wider.
This epic story of BB Easton will make you stop and look back of what yours have been while she’s experiencing all of this. Such a great and worthy read. Something to watch out for.
I don’t normally read rock star romances, but BB Easton is one of my favorites, so I knew I had to read Star. Once again, BB Easton has blown me away with her writing! I’ve loved every single book she’s written so far, and Star is no different. I love the way BB tells a story. She draws me into to her world, and I love feeling immersed in this story. This is the type of series that you should really start either with 44 chapters or Skin to get the full affect of the story. The audio is also super amazing! The narrator is perfect for this series. Definitely get the audios!!! BB’s books make me sad, but in the best possible way! This may be a bit spoilery if you haven’t read the previous books, so be warned!!! WARNING!!! I feel so sad because I know BB and Hans aren’t going to work out, and reading about how they fall in love, it’s so sweet! I’m also so sad because of how the events play out. It’s sad to see Hans, and even Knight, make such poor choices in regards to their health. Mental and Physical. I was so disappointed right along side BB as I read the events unfolding. BB is much nicer than I would’ve been during certain situations, and I would’ve cut certain people right the heck out of my life! BB put up with too much, and it’s unhealthy for her. I wish she spoke up for herself more. I wish she took better care of herself as well. This series is a journey for BB, and it’s great to see BB grow and realize that she deserves more than what she has been getting. I loved, loved, loved, seeing Ken! Ken is adorable, and I can’t wait for Suit! I feel so sad that the series is almost done. I’m going to need to stalk BB, so I can keep hearing stories! I love this series to pieces!
“Boys provided two of my favorite things: attention and affection.”
Star is the next steamy stand-alone from 44 Chapters About 4 Men. I have yet to read 44 Chapters but I had no problem following the story. Each stand-alone focuses on one of the four men. BB Easton has already written about Ronald Knight, the “skin head,” Harley, the sexy tattooed mechanic. And now, Hans, the soulful musician. In some of BB’s words: This story, is the truest thing I’ve ever written. …..my relationship with Hans was already so over-the-top romantic, so fantastical, so suspenseful that it simply didn’t leave much room for exaggeration.
The story has a slow and steady beginning. BB sets the “stage.” She is always, hopeful and full of romantic ideas. BB is still mending both physically and emotionally from her last relationship with mechanic Harley. Unfortunately for BB, Harley was not exactly who she thought he was. Complicating the matter is the appearance of her mentally unstable first boyfriend, Knight. In a fit of rage Knight runs Harley and BB off the road. In BB’s defense, she was forced into the car with Harley. The end result is freaked out parents, a hospital stay and a somewhat long recovery for BB.
Now recovered, at least physically, she tries to move forward. BB meets Hans, a beautiful and soulful bass player for the band Phantom Limb. They are friends first, and then they are more….Hans really knows how to woo BB….
“I loved the way he loved me. The moment Hans appeared in my life, I felt as if a switch had been flipped. I suddenly had access to colors I’d never seen before. Feelings I’d never felt. ”
But nothing is ever easy or normal for BB. At seventeen she has already graduated high school and is in college. She is very focused on getting her degree and tries to get Hans to go to college as well. That works for a while.
She continues to struggle with body image, and self-doubt. She is so focused on Hans and his dream that she nearly forgets her own. With each story she matures and life lessons are learned.
This has been a crazy ride! The highs are so high! And the lows, devastating! Some of the situations are just crazy! I have enjoyed the previous two books and look forward to the last story, Suit and actually reading 44 Chapters about 4 men!
“You have always been the brightest thing in the room, honey. But you dim your light so that your man can shine instead.”
