Enemies to lovers… yeah, right.Never trust a supe. It’s been my mantra for years and it keeps getting reinforced. Case in point: I was screwed by a couple of witches who were looking out only for themselves. Now I’m in a life-debt to a mafioso witch who thinks I’m his personal unpaid PI. But when his daughter runs off with a demon, I’m given a chance: find them before the deadline and he’ll … deadline and he’ll cancel my debt forever.
Enter Cormac. He’s a sexy demon with a smoking hot bod and a passion for me that threatens to burn down my house and consume my soul. But remember the part about never trusting a supe? Well, guess I’m going to have to learn this lesson over and over.
This demon is hot AF, but can I trust him?

It’s getting hot in here
Once again this author takes us away to Diablo Falls, and shows us how love can build with just a little spark. Well in this case it also took a ball of fur, but the end result is a HEA that will make you cry those happy tears. I love the new take on demons and the way two lonely souls finally find their way home. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
This was a fun read with great characters i loved Cormac and Laila. But i got to admit DeSoto was simply awesome.
When we love, we love fiercely” and he showed it every single time o Cormac.
Cormac was in hell for the mandatory visit the clans when he runs into his cousin Bettina. She gives his some advice he never thought he’d take but when he gets back amongst human he heads to Diablo Falls and volunteers at the fire department. Laila is a PI and needs some help and comes to Cormac for it. He is connected t the person that she is looking for and he goes out of his way to help her especially when he finds out why she needs to finish this job. Will she finally get the freedom she wants? Can she and Cormac be together?

I am loving all of the Diablo Falls stories. Not only are they entertaining they are well written, full of adventure, action, mystery, suspense, magic, romance and twists that kept me turning the pages. In this book we get Laila and Cormack’s story that takes place in Diablo Falls. Laila is a human and Cormack is a demon but they had great chemistry together. The writing is great and the characters are intriguing.
Love isn’t an easy road to travel especially for this demon and human female.
Well worth reading!
A book in the A Diablo Falls Paranormal Short Story series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly from page to page. This is Cormac Marlowe a demon and human P.I. Laila Birch’s story which I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Leila is a human in a town full of Sups supernaturals she’s been tricked and now she works for Nate as his personal PI hes a nasty witch of a mobster. Leila has a chance to get out of Diablo but she will have to ask a Demon for help she’s had her hart broken once by a Supe never again if only he wasn’t so mouthwatering to look at. I love all books about Diablo Falls and this book by Laney Powell did not disappoint! The plot, characters and word building pulled me in form the beginning and I couldn’t read fast enough, I had to know what happens. I loved Cormac and Laila they were a awesome couple and I loved watching them. It’s a very entertaining paranormal; fast paced quick, steamy and funny read. Laila has said for years you cant trust a supe. While shes in a life debt to a witch as his personal PI she meets a sexy demon Cormac. When they meet the sparks fly and he helps her with her case, there’s plenty of action, drama, suspense, twists, turns, passion, hot sexy demon and a hot and steamy romance, and don’t forget DeSoto! I want a cat like him! This is a definite must read and I can’t wait for more!!!

Cormac Marlowe was on his annual mandatory visit to hell for a few days where all demons met with their clans, renewed ties or promises, made new ones, and so on. Bettina walked up and told him he needed to change the brooding, pouting, sulking attitude since she was starting to hear others say he needed an official “attitude adjustment” – which meant an extended stay in hell. That would drive him crazy! She suggested he visit a town called Diablo Falls, where things that go bump in the night hang out among humans, a safe zone. He could even get a job as a fireman which he would be perfect for! He almost laughed which would not be a good idea here right now. Bettina read stories to children at the Diablo Falls library, and she seemed happy. He had to admit that he definitely needed a change.
Laila Birch, who owns her own PI business, was going through her accounting files when her boss, Nate, walked in. This was not a typical occurrence since he lived in New York City, not close to Diablo Falls. He wanted her to find a couple of people, and it was important enough to this Mafioso witch that he would release her from her lifetime debt of service to him. All she had to do was find his daughter, Sasha, and the demon Devon Barton she ran off with.
Cormac took Bettina’s advice and was offered a job with the fire department, especially since being surrounded by flames was no hazard to him. He started to learn that the guys he worked with could be trusted – not something you find much in hell. He got a small cabin and picked out a cat, very surprised when he got home to find that the cat could talk to him! Then one of the EMTs who had done him a favor asked if he would help a friend of his that needed demon advice. When Laila arrived the next day, Cormac was alone. Both of them were attracted to each other, and each was firm in their decision that she didn’t date supes and he didn’t date humans. She was amazed at his sense of humor and how well they got along. When he arrived at her office, she commented that he had “saved her from herself”, referring to the organizing of the office she was about to tackle. But he immediately responded, “Oh? That’s not really my gig,” and she melted at his beautiful smile. He said he didn’t recognize Devon’s name and didn’t seem upset that Sasha was only 17 since supernaturals were not as hung up on age. So he asked why it was so important to her. She insisted Sasha was too young, but as a demon, he felt her emotions swirling around like a dark cloud, full of fear and worry. He knew there was more to this — it was important to her in a way that was bigger than a case for a client.
Cormac realized that Laila was his and he cared deeply for her. He texted her to see if he could come over to the office, and she agreed. He was not prepared for the angry woman who punched him in the nose! When he had called Devon the night before, and put him on “hold” to answer his cell, the hold button didn’t lock in and Devon heard what he said to Laila about the case. Sasha called her father and said they were never coming back. Now Laila would not escape her lifetime debt of service to Nate. She would never be free. And the perceived betrayal by Cormac broke her heart. She wouldn’t even listen to the truth and threw him out of her office. What could he do now to make this right?
This was such a good book with a story line that captured the reader immediately. Cormac’s words to Laila, “When we take a lover, we love fiercely,” was so true throughout the story, as the reader could feel his dedication to Laila. He was even loyal to his cat, DeSoto! They both made him happy. The characters were strong and so likable! Grab your copy and see if Cormac can resolve this mess, especially when Laila’s jealous werewolf ex comes back on the scene!
I love Laney Powell’s stories and now I am loving her paranormal stories. Diablo Falls is the place to be for everything paranormal and I can’t get enough of these stories. The characters were hot and had a connection but trust is hard to come by and it’s take them a little to get there. Loved it!

A match made in Diablo Falls
What happens when a human PI needs help with a case from a demon? They fall in love of course but not without having to work for it. Cormac moves to Diablo Falls for a change. Laila is a PI working for supernaturals and humans. What she’s really working for is to clear her debt and be free. When these two come together it’s HOT literally and figuratively. Highly recommend
Betrayal from Hell by Laney Powell is a short story in the Diablo Falls world. In this story, a human woman named Laila who works as a private investigator gets tangled up in a witch’s trap. The first part of her debt requires her to live in Diablo Falls, which is a town in the Rocky Mountains where supernatural creatures do not need to hide who and what they are. The second part requires she work for the witch Nate on the cases he gives her. However, when she is asked to solve a special case, it causes her to meet a demon named Cormac that forever changes both their destinies. This story was a wonderful read that I couldn’t put down with a sweet happy ever after ending. Betrayal from Hell is a short very entertaining paranormal demon love story.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns Laila is a P.I. who owes money she made a deal to clear her of the debt.

Have only an hour and half, this book is good. We have Cormac who is a demon and wants a change, his best friend tells him to try Diablo Falls. Laila has a PI business that she start from a friends loan, that turned out to be a mafia loan and not she is in debited to him. She has a chance to get out, but will she be able to do what he asked? Can Cormac help her? Is Cormac ready to give a human a chance? What is this chemistry going on?

Another great book set ion the multi author world of Diablo Falls
Laila doesn’t trust the supernatural world at all in fact she is in debt to a witch and he making her pay it of working has his PI Then through her job she meets Cormac who is a demon. The sparks fly between these two from the word go he knows she is important to him and he knows that he has the connections to help her with her latest case Will he help her will she win her freedom do they have a future together You will have to read to see
