I enjoyed Kacey and Sawyer. They are both such sweet people and I’m so jealous they get to live in such a picturesque place and ride horses every day. The suspense in the story was great. I found myself skipping ahead a few times to see where things were going. I find it interesting in this series the different levels of amnesia the characters have. Some will get flashbacks and get most, but usually not all of their memories back, but in Kacey’s case it was very different. I like seeing how they navigate their world under those circumstances. This was a great best friends to lovers story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Her Steadfast Cowboy. Danae Little did a great job developing her main and supporting characters. Sawyer West makes the perfect cowboy hero. He is unwavering in his protection of Kacey. The plot has twists and turns, and the pacing was perfect for this story. I highly recommend this to clean/wholesome romance readers, romantic suspense readers, and to contemporary western romance readers. You’re in for a treat! I got my copy through KU.
Love To Last A Lifetime
This is a sweet and clean romance with a modern western theme. It is ‘friends to lovers’ and so much more. The story goes quickly and is hard to put down. This author knows how to write a great story.
Rating 4.5 stars
I will not summarize this story because it is already given in the description of this book. The purpose of this review is to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading this story.
What I liked or found interesting:
• The opening of the story caught my interest and immersed me into its depths.
• Kacey and Sawyer were characters that you wanted to discover more about as you continued to read their story.
• The minor players in this story added depth to the storyline and were well developed.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• The author held off in telling us why Kacey seemed so fearful or what she knew that put her in danger. These facts are given to the reader bit by bit. This added a lot of suspense.
• This is a clean read. I appreciate authors who do this. I think it takes more talent to write this way.
• There were some twists and turns to the plot.
• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
I highly recommend this book to those readers who enjoy romance with suspense. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
Kacey’s amnesia was interesting. She lost actual memories, but some places and people still held an emotional connection. She didn’t understand it, but she recognized “safe” and “familiar” even when she didn’t remember anything else. Then there were tasks she just knew… like saddling her horse. I can imagine those little things protected her sanity.
Sawyer was more than just “steadfast.” He was overprotective… well, from Kacey’s pov. He and her folks thought he was doing the right thing.
You can probably guess that she learned he was correct before they move into their HEA.
No memory.
Kacey moves back home from the big city, running for her life. But in order to keep her loved ones safe, she doesn’t tell anyone.
-‘Maybe she just had to act like nothing happened. Maybe he would go along.’-
-‘She needed her friend now, and it seemed like she just might have him. How she would keep the secret from him, she didn’t know, but she had to. Knowing Sawyer, he would want to drive back to the city and kick some booty. Yet, those people played seriously and not with their fists.’-
Then, tragedy strikes and she can’t tell anyone…as she has no memory – not even of who she is… This is a clean romance with no cliffhanger and it is a stand-alone book.
