I want him from the moment I see him. But one night is all I can give him.I’ve officially sworn off men—there’s just too many jerks out there. But when my roommate drags me to a firefighter bachelor auction, I lay eyes on the hottest, yummiest-looking man and question my resolve. And when I end up going out on a date with the hot fireman, I can’t extinguish my lust. Neither, it turns out, can he.… it turns out, can he.
One hot night is all I can give him, though. I can’t risk getting hurt again. And I have a small business dream to pursue.
Now if only I could figure out how to stop thinking about him.

This is a great short, sweet yet steamy insta-love story. Liv and Mason meet because she won a date with him at a charity auction. Their connection was unmistakable.

Liv’s roommate drags her to a firefighter charity auction, and Becky buys her a date with Number 9. She figures he’s just another a$$hole firefighter. Mason didn’t want to be in the auction, but his friends guilted him into doing it “for charity”. Now he just wants to get the date over with. Until he meets Liv. They have a wonderfully hot night together, and then she disappears, leaving him wanting more. This is a really nice insta-love story with a very happy ending, and a nice short book to read. This is my first read from this author – looking forward to more.

Liv Anderson, a barista, is on her bed staring at the ceiling and trying to think of a way to avoid going to this firefighter bachelor auction with her roommate. A bad date two nights before had soured her mood for all men. But Becky won’t let her say no, throws a dress at her, and demands that she get ready NOW. When the announcer comes out to talk about the charity this is for, Liv lets her mind wander to the wedding boutique she wants to create. But when bachelor #9 struts out, Liv definitely notices. However, she knows she doesn’t have enough money to win, so she won’t take the chance. Becky, however, is determined to win him for her and does so with the Christmas money her grandma sent her.
Mason is sorry he let the guys guilt him into this. He has no interest in dating. He just wants to get it all over with. He heads for the Wolf and Arrow, determined to be polite but nothing more. The woman who approaches his table is beautiful. She’s also shy. But as they get to know each other, both can feel an attraction. For Liv, this feels different. This time, she wants to go home with him. His kisses melt her and they end up in his bedroom. When she confesses that this is her first time, he says she doesn’t have to continue until she finally decides to be with him fully. The next day she is gone, leaving a note that she won’t forget him.
For some reason, Mason can’t get Liv off his mind. Strange, but he felt something with her he never felt with anyone else. It’s impossible to fall in love so fast! Being so distracted by her, he finally calls but she doesn’t answer. After another call, he figures she is ignoring him. The rest of the week was busy, but he decided to call her one more time, leave a message, and then walk away.
Liv starts to listen to his voice message but, when he starts to tell her how he feels, she deletes it immediately. She just can’t risk being hurt again as she has with every other experience with men. So she won’t take a chance, despite Becky’s encouraging her to talk to him, that he’s not like the others. When Becky calls Liv into the kitchen, she points across the street as they see the building in flames. When the fire department arrives, Liv knows Mason is there – she can feel him, and she is afraid for him. Two people are rescued, but Mason was injured and taken to the hospital. How seriously was he injured? Will Liv realize how much she cares for him and give him a chance?
This book was very well-written, but so far-fetched that not much is believable. Aside from a blush, Liv had not one ounce of innocence for the rest of the story. The plot felt pretty contrived, but not severe enough that I had to stop reading. So if you can suspend your disbelief and enjoy it for the contrived love story it is, I think it’s worth reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This was an absolute gem to read, it’s a short quick read, perfect for lunchbreak reading. The storyline is fast-paced, it had absolute sizzle between Mason and Liv, perfect about of drama and a delightful HEA. Loved it.
I really enjoyed this novella. Liv and Mason were great characters. Mason is a firefighter and he meets Liv after a bachelor auction. There is instalove and they are great together. Sweet but with heat too! Definitely recommend. Must read!
