He wants to make me his queen. The problem? I’m an heiress. And he’s…a beast.
I mean he is really a beast, a werewolf to be precise. I’m the first to admit that I’m born to be royalty, but this wasn’t exactly how I’d pictured it!
Rhys is about to be crowned king of the Realm, and he wants me to rule by his side. He said if I refuse, he’ll have the prince “gift” me to him. The nerve! One thing … prince “gift” me to him. The nerve! One thing the new king needs to learn? I don’t take orders—not from him, not from anyone. But when Rhys makes it a contest and invites other women to audition to be his bride, he gets my ire up. I don’t know if I’m meant to marry a werewolf, but I do know that I was born to win. I’ll show that beast what I’m made of—I’ll make him sit, beg and heel. So may the best woman win.
And since I’m already certain that’s me, I’m all for it… Let the games begin!

I enjoyed this book, there were times it was a little confusing with all the people especially ones from her previous series which I haven’t gotten a chance to read her but I will be going back to read! It is completely possible to read this without it I just had some small difficulties. As a story though it’s very good and compelling I did enjoy it and look forward to more of this series!
I didn’t mean to finish this in one day, but whoops! I couldn’t help myself. Leigh Walker’s books keep me turning the pages, every single time. This story focuses on Tamara, one of the original girls from The Pageant who is now a Goodwill Ambassador for the Crown. She is swept up into a new reality show to win the affections of Rhys, the new werewolf king of the Realm. She is torn, though, because she can’t decide between what she wants and what she thought she always wanted.
There are new girls Tamara has to compete with, but there are less this time, which makes the competition more fierce right from the start. Tamara gets a taste of her own medicine, since there is a girl who is reminiscent of how Tamara acted during the Pageant, but it seems Tamara has changed for the most part. I’m interested to see where her new-found feelings lead her, and how Rhys handles what is to come in the competition, as well as outside forces that seem to be conspiring!
While you don’t need to have read her other series, it might help given the references to all the linked characters and the history leading up to this story. Rhys is a handsome and wild werewolf looking for his mate and queen. Tamara is a bit of a spoiled human who competed in the pageant and opens this story coordinating the royal wedding. She is asked to accompany Rhys to the wedding and help him ‘behave’ and he is so charmed by her that he asked her to marry him right away. She said no and a new competition is born, one she is forced by the vampire king to participate in… But then her feelings start to change and she realizes there is more to Rhys than she thought. Fair warning, we end on a cliffhanger so you might want to wait until you can read all three books to spare yourself the anguish of wondering if Tamara will be able to prove she is worthy of being by his side to the rest of the pack.
It took me a while to like Tamara, she was a little frustrating at first, but then I realized that she acted out of fear and who among us hasn’t felt that way before.
I LOVED the Vampire Royals series, so I was very excited to see that there would be a spin-off series for the Werewolves, the Shifter Royals. I had pre-ordered the book immediately and read it almost as soon as I got it. I really enjoyed it, it’s nice getting to see more of Rhys (as he was a minor character in the Vampire Royals, and only in the last 2 books) and because the books are in 1st person, it’s nice getting to understand more about Tamara and how she thinks. This book ends on a cliffhanger, but I can’t wait to read the remaining 2 books! Already have those pre-ordered as well! Highly recommend this book, hoping the series is as great as the Vampire Royals series!
