Jev was looking for an adventure, however she wanted the usual variety of stomping out nasty fae in the city as an enforcer of the Philly Coven. Instead, handsome-as-sin Liam O’Reilly shows up on her doorstep dropping news of the worst organization of fae they’d dealt with on the rise again. Except, he’s a traitor, an asshole, and the absolute last person she wants to work with. However, the … with.
However, the longer they work together, the more the fire between them burns, turning from rage and irritation into something primal. And as she gets to know the real Liam O’Reilly behind the charming smiles and sexy lines, he becomes so much deadlier. Because the protective, self-sacrificing man underneath the facade is just the sort she could fall for.

This second book in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles gives us a redeemable alpha male, which is a favorite for me, especially if he’s done right. And I’ll just throw in here that Katherine McIntyre certainly got it right as far as I’m concerned. The more I learned about Liam, the more I liked him. Of course, likable and redeemable or not, Jev doesn’t make it easy on him, but then she wouldn’t be a McIntyre heroine if she did. Liam and Jev give great banter, and their chemistry is off the charts. Whether they’re battling one supernatural creature or the next, trying not to taste Liam’s mother’s baking, or squeezing in some alone time, these two are good together. This is part of a series, and the author explains things well enough that it can technically be read as a standalone, but I would strongly suggest reading them in order because you won’t want to miss anything in this fast-paced urban fantasy. Like the first in the series, this one is action-packed and loads of engaging entertainment. We do get a hint about what’s next, and I can’t wait to see where that story goes.
Scrying for Summer is Book 2 in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles. The romance in this is a focus on Liam and Jev’s story. The characters are well developed, likable as the story progresses, and have great chemistry together. The story line is well-written and holds the reader’s attention from start to finish.
Liam O’Reilly had made some serious mistakes, enough to brand him a traitor, but he did what he did with honorable intentions. He told Jev he needed her help now in locating his friend Sam, a djinn who’s magic lamp is stolen, and swore to her that he was no longer with the Order of the Serpent who had forced his obedience when they kidnapped his mother. In this book, as he is redeeming himself, the reader can observe his willingness to sacrifice for those he cares for. He is a very strong protector.
Jev, a witch in the Philadelphia Coven, was a strong, independent woman who could meet Liam on equal footing. Their banter and tension kept the reader fully focused on what was going on. As they worked together and Jev got to know the real Liam’s qualities rather than her mistaken impression of who he was before, she begins to see him as someone she can care for. Will they find a HEA? Or is betrayal still a possibility?
This was a good story and worth reading. Grab your copy and see how their story unfolds as they team up and learn the truth about each other.
