A book to sink your teeth into …
Mixing teen angst with paranormal romance in Lousianna, Jo Wilde creates a heightened world of vampires, witches and hilarious next-door neighbor, Candy, whose flair and humor save new girl Micki Lea Brown from boredom and a cursed clique at school.
But he may be a tad late to the party because Micki’s already met beautiful, brooding vamp Valentine who is hellbent on watching over her, even during inappropriate times. This brings out the green gills in Wendy– who may or may not be his witchy girlfriend– and thus begins the plotting with her sidekick sycophants.
Throw in a blood guzzling bonfire, cruel cajun bikers, Micki’s mysterious symptoms, a Sanhaim harvest hoedown, and poor Candy has his hands full when they’re not already on his sassy hips.
Wilde is crafty with quirky character development and gives a peek of just enough picturesque description to plunk us in the midst of Eastwick’s best-kept secret. Feeling for Micki Lea having to be the new girl in school, we yearn for Valentine’s lush lips (which just might rival Edward’s), watch our back around Wendy, and want to emit bile chunks at the vile vampire gang. But most of all we wish Candy was our tell-it-like-it-is BFF. With him at our side, we don’t need garlic, but he brings it anyway.
I highly recommend this YA paranormal romance thriller for teens and adults who love YA.

“The Crossing” is book one in Jo Wilde’s The Chronicles of Micki O’Sullivan series.
This series follows 17 year old Micki. Being sent to live with her father Henry in Louisiana, after having some trouble with the law. Micki finds herself in the middle of something that can only be dreamed up, a myth. Wanting to make friends Micki agrees to go to a party with some girls from School. Things go wrong and being attacked has Micki’s life changing. Needing to stay out of trouble, Micki meets Candy, her new BFF, but trouble seems to be lurking around each corner. Trying to keep her family and BFF safe has Micki finding herself in more danger and trouble than before.
This is the second book I have read by this author. I did enjoy this story, it was unique, intriguing, new, interesting and engaging. But I did find somethings to be frustrating and confusing, there were a few small things that messed with the timeline, characters traits and events being off. But if you are able to overlook these small things I do believe you will be able to enjoy this story. I look forward to reading The Haunting.
Absolutely perfect. Can’t wait for book two. Micki is a fantastic character and I just loved Candy!!! I wish I had a dad as cool as Henry. So much happens in this book and I could not put it down. Better than Twilight. Jo Wilde is awesome. Can’t wait to see what she does next!!!!
I found Jo Wilde following an authors group and recommendation of a friend. Wow am I pleased that I did.
This is a well written YA PNR. The characters are believable, with both romance and friendship developing throughout the book.
This is both sweet and easy to read. It’s a pleasant change.
I’m off to read Jo’s next book and will enjoy discovering more as she adds to her craft.
Jo Wilde has really created a world that is so unique.
Micki is an awesome character who has that spunk and fight within her. Her whole world changes when she moves from New York to Louisiana. She meets some very interesting people, like Candy. He becomes a great friend with an accent and way of speak that is all new to her. She meets Valentine, who she falls for. He is really there for her when times are tough. But things happen for Micki that she never saw coming.
Great YA book for those who are fans of vampires, witches, and overall supernatural.
Great story. It’s written perfect for YA readesr but I really enjoyed it. The characters Micki, Valentine, Candy and Wendy are intelligent, funny, charismatic and loyal. They developed well though out the story. A few twists and turns kept me turning the pages!
This is such an enjoyable story! Micki moves to Eastwick to live with her dad and has her eyes opened to something she never thought could be possible. What a great story line and great characters.
I loved the friendship between Micki and Candy and seeing the bond grow between Micki and her father.
The Crossing is filled with intrigue, especially the ending. An entertaining story that will keep you enchanted to the end.
This book is so good. The storyline and characters were amazing! It was very hard to put this book down. Mick is a strong character, in charge of her own fate. Candy is an amazing friend,he needs a medal and he is so funny too. Valentine surprises you in the end. I would like to know more about him. I am glad I found this author, I’m really enjoying her writing. And look forward to more written by her.
Micki is on her way to live with her father in Eastwick. She has not had an easy time with the divorce of her parents, her mother’s affair, then her marriage to her boss. Micki and step father do not get along. So when she is busted for pot, that is when she is sent to her father. Micki is looking forward to living with him.
Micki meets a boy that she is instantly drawn to. There is a group of girls that invite her to a party. She is suspious of them, as she can’t get a real read on their auras. She decides to go, that is when she is forced to drink blood by one of the guys. The guy from school tries to help her, gets her out of there. Micki also meets her neighbor, they become fast friends.
Micki is going through some major changes. She doesn’t know what is going on. But she realizes more that Valentine is not lying to her.
This is just an idea of what is going on with this book, there is so much I didn’t write. There are some really great moments. I highly recommend you reading this book.
What can I say Jo Wilde is a talented author. The Crossing is an amazing story that will have you hooked from the first page. This story was amazingly intense. I absolutely loved the characters and.the storyline. This read will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. I definitely can’t wait for the next book!
I was gifted this book by a friend who thought I would like it. And she was right! It is a good book and my favorite genre. Mickie is an unhappy child. She gets busted and is sent to live with her father. There she meets bikers who try to make her drink blood. One of them saves her but strange things start happening to her. She has no idea what’s going on. I do not give away spoilers. So you will have to read it to find out what happens. This is a well written book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes this genre
Really great story! Engaging characters that are relatable! Well written!
Mickie is 17 and lives in New York with her mother and stepfather. Not happy, she causes all kinds of trouble. She is busted with drugs and sent to live with her father in Louisiana. There, she meets three girls in school. She goes with them her second night and meets up with some nasty bikers. One tries to force her to swallow blood and starts choking her. Another one of them saves her and takes her home. Weird things start happening to her body. She befriends her neighbor Candy who goes along for the journey to help discover what is going on and how to fix it. People end up dead, mesmerized and others missing. Mickie’s life is spiraling out of control and she is facing the crossing…and does not know what to do~ For those of you who are fans of Lost Boys, this story is somewhat similar but in reverse. It contains many other nuances that the movie did not!
