A Montana Sky Series Second Chance, Mature Romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Debra HollandAs a young woman, Rose Collier gave her heart to Andre Bellaire, her brother’s best friend. In spite of their attraction and for reasons unknown to Rose, Andre distanced himself from her. As the years passed, she remained a spinster, making a monotonous, although worthwhile life, … worthwhile life, by working at the library and keeping house for her brother. Then Marty dies, leaving her practically destitute.
Andre Bellaire is living what he calls his third life–the first being his childhood and youth as part of a wealthy Creole family in New Orleans, his lonely middle years as a successful manufacturer in New York, and his later years as a philanthropist in the small town of Sweetwater Springs, Montana. In spite of a weak heart, he’s savoring life, living with his newfound daughter and her family, while designing a library, a park, and helping to fund a new church. Then his comfortable routine is disrupted by a letter from his best friend Marty saying he’s dying and asking Andre to take care of his sister–the woman he once loved.
Andre offers Rose the job of librarian in Sweetwater Springs and a room in his home. Not wanting to deter Rose from accepting the job, he doesn’t relate the library is only land and architectural plans, and the physical structure has yet to be built.
Although Rose is shocked to find the job isn’t what she expected, the challenges of her new life prove stimulating. Still she guards her heart against Andre, not wanting the devastating hurt that would come from loving him and once again being rejected.
Even if Andre could change Rose’s mind about a relationship, he holds back. The former barriers to their love no longer matter. But new ones do–at least for him. Can love bloom again in the winter of their lives?
(The events in A Late-Blooming Rose are best understood if you’ve already read Glorious Montana Sky and Montana Sky Justice.)

4 . Still having varying success with getting the star rating to save. Enjoyed this book. Been a while since I read this series. May need to read it again. I have read several of the books more than once.
You made me cry! That was my first thought right after knowing I just loved this book. It’s been awhile since I read one of this author’s fabulous books and right away I realized this was a special book and a “wonder.” I felt heart in the pages, feelings of lost love and the imaginations of a second chance at an amazing future. Rose Collier was a librarian in life and a literary artist in her soul; she was caring and loving; and, she had given away her heart twenty-two years ago never believing to find it again. I loved her story; I’ve always loved her Andre Bellaire; and, now I absolutely love this book. Thanks to the author for giving me this wonderful feeling.
Rose Collier, as a young woman, had fallen in love with Andre Bellaire and had planned to spend her life with him. When he suddenly leaves with no explanation she is heartbroken and never marries, working in a library and taking care of her ill brother, Marty. Before Marty dies he asks his best friend Andre to take care of his sister. Andre jumps at the chance because his feelings for Rose have not changed from all those years ago. He offers her a job as the librarian for the new library he having build in Sweetwater Springs. Rose reluctantly accepts the job and goes out West to start a new life. Rose tries to keep her distance from Andre because she doesn’t want her heart broken again. However, as they begin to get to know each other again and a secret comes to light there are changes for their relationship and maybe a happy ever after, after all these years.
This is a lovely addition to the Montana Sky Series with a well-written plot along with the characters being well balanced, with great dialogue and a cheer for our hero and heroine and their happy ending. The story flowed quite nicely, with easy to know secondary characters. This is another lovely visit to Sweetwater Springs as the reader is able to find out how previous characters are doing. It’s like going home for a visit to see what everyone has been up to. This book is a great addition to this series and I thoroughly loved this story about a second chance at love for two people who really deserved a happy ever after.
Another beautifully written story by Debra Holland. I love her books and this one is another example of the wonderful characters she creates, with wonderful storylines. A love from Andre Bellaire’s past is asked to come to Sweetwater Springs by Andre to be the librarian in the new library he is building for the people of Sweetwater Springs. He also asked her great niece to come along since Rose’s brother just passed away and his granddaughter wants to leave.
Rose resents Andre still from leaving her and wasn’t sure about going to Montana but her great niece was not yet twenty-one so she worried about her going alone.
This is a beautiful love to be story but it is a really slow one to get to the HEA since she is still angry and he is afraid to love her since he has some health issues.
We meet up with old friends in Sweetwater Springs and we watch things as the unfold. I highly recommend this story as another fantastic Debra Holland Montana Sky book. I also recommend this whole series if you haven’t read it as it is all good and wonderful from one of my favorite authors.
