Cora has it all, but she doesn’t have a man. They keep dying on her.She is the immortal Greek goddess Persephone, drinking and reveling in a Malibu beach house in the twenty-first century. But no matter her wild antics or psychotherapy, nothing can ease the pain over her latest husband’s murder. Except perhaps the prudish but handsome Mr. Gabriel Cartwright.Gabe is a young East Coast realtor … Cartwright.
Gabe is a young East Coast realtor who’s hired to transfer her things to her new home in Toronto. Cora likes him. He has such a kind and sweet heart. But her lover holds secrets. He is a member of a nymph race that Imada, an ancient order of gods, has been hunting to extinction; a race Persephone has fought millennia to protect. That’s why she hired him. She wants to be close to him. She wants to care for him. Only Imada cares for Gabriel too—they want him dead.
Cora will protect her man or tear Imada apart trying.
Content warning: CORA features a goddess who enjoys bad language, romance, and sexual situations. Although Cora is the same goddess as Persephone four thousand years earlier in A.L. Hawke’s Cora: Rise of the Fallen Goddess, this contemporary urban fantasy is suited for an adult audience.

The basic story idea behind CORA was enticing and I was curious to read this story. Unfortunately this story reads like a man’s wet dream as he pretends to be a sexy, hot Goddess. It just ends up insulting real women. Clearly this male author has no idea what real women are like. Sad attempt at literature
4 1/2 stars – I chose this book to read and review because I have a fondness for “any” romance books related to Hades and Persephone. This story is more about Persephone alias Ms. Cora Aregard. Persephone is in a mental depressed mess after the death of her husband Danny. She’s moving out of their house in California and starting over in Torondo. Mr. Gabriel Cartwright who works for Platinum Properties is helping her transition to a new house. Persephone hired Gabe because he is a rare male Napean nymph. Meanwhile Imada, a secret society of gods and goddesses is hunting and killing all the Napean nymphs. Persephone is determined to protect and care for Gabe. Will she succeed with the help of Hades? This story was enjoyable to read. Cora the main character had a lot of mental problems affecting her behavior which made her a harder character to understand. Hence the 1/2 star off. The bottom line in this story is everyone is looking for someone to love them, even Gods.
I received a free copy of this book via the Author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have been a big fan of Greek Mythology for many many years. One of the biggest things I appreciated was the way that the Author was able to incorporate it throughout the book.
The main character Cora is something else. At times she is crazy, conniving, immature but when you really learn her story you will understand why. The Author was able to develop her character so well that I was able to learn to care for her.
I truly enjoyed this book very much. I loved it so much that I also ordered the paperback copy to add to my bookshelf book collection.
Gods and goddesses living in the Modern World is what this book is about but its also about Love, Loyalty and petty back-stabbing. Like children getting one over each other except these Gods use people like pawns in their own game of revenge. Cora aka Persephone (MFC) has been living in the human world for a long time. Living a normal life with her husband Danny. Until Danny is murdered and she suspects that Gods have had a hand in it. Her Ex-Husband and the lord of the underworld Hades has now taken over as a peacekeeper between the Gods. He wants to avert a war that someone seems to want. Hes trying to protect Cora in the process. Gabriel her hot real estate man is also someone on her radar but her interest in him is not about starting a war. Its more sexual and for other reasons. I really liked this book. Cora is and acquired taste and sometimes she came across like a brat but she has a loyalty to the folks she cares for. I just felt like the story wasnt finished or maybe i was just hoping for another book, lol. Still a pretty good book all round though i think
