Dear Diary,My heart is black. My soul has been crushed beyond repair following the tragic and untimely death of my father. Now I’m being forced to leave everything behind and move 2,000 miles to live with my mom-a woman who I haven’t spoken to in ten years. It won’t be easy but I’ll give her and Riverstone twelve months. I’ll finish my senior year to keep her quiet and then I’ll up and leave, the … to keep her quiet and then I’ll up and leave, the same as she did to me.
Twelve months… like there’s going to be anything to keep me in Riverstone anyway.

Dear Diary by Lacey Heart was a quick read which showed the progression of the character through the month of January. It had some really good diary entries which helped you get into the mind of the main female character, Avery and what she is going through due to her move to a new town to live with a mother who she hasn’t seen in years and how she is trying to distancing herself from that relationship, dealing with the death of her father, starting a new school and being on the radar of one of the elite boys at school, Cole.
The story is quick to read and ends on a cliff-hanger because of course there are going to be eleven more novellas of this book and I’m hoping we’ll see the relationship of not only Avery and Cole evolve, but everyone else we met in the first installment. A really good and entertaining read!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review

I am intrigued by this book and concept. The book will come out monthly just like a diary entry. I was intrigued by Avery and I want to know about her story. What happened to her dad? Where was her mom this whole time? Avery starts are new school and runs into literally the most popular boy in school and town Cole. Cole, the broody alpha male that knows that he is either feared or wanted by everyone in school. There are a lot more new changes to come for Avery and Cole and I can’t read each month what they are.
Dear Diary is my first Lacey Heart book but she definitely leaves me needing more. If her plan is to release each month at a time, I will be here for all 12 books in this series!
Avery moves to Riverstone not by choice but because she has no other options, and she’ not at all pleased about it. Caleb is the king of Riverstone and an absolute jerk. From their very first meeting Avery hates him, I mean how can you not when he bloodies her nose and doesn’t think twice? However, you can definitely tell something is going on deep within Cole. Avery has walls up to keep everyone at Riverstone away, her plan is simple stay until she’s 18 and leave. I do think there is more to the story of her mom that what she knows.
Heart hasn’t given us any steamy yet, just enough hate to keep us going. Dear Diary – January was a quick read that left me needing more. I have so many things I need to know and I have a feeling she’s going to keep me hanging for awhile. But that’s ok, I’ll wait for what she has. I hope she releases February in February so I don’t have to wait long for more.
Oh I love Lacey Heart! This idea for a diary book, one for each month, it is so different and a cool idea for novellas.
She got me hooked right away and needed more.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for Avery and Cole in the next 11 months!
4⃣.5⃣ stars!
No steam yet but I just KNOW it is coming!!
