Quick, fun book to read. A great vacation book.
I’ve read two of her books and will read many more. Love her writing. She has romance without using sex to fill up the book. It’s refreshing. Her characters are well written and brings in secondary characters that add well to the story. She brings in family and some quirky characters that add so much fun to the story.
A pretty good Romcom. The story is about Cora and her over the top Fletcher Family. A Family and Friends reunion (to celebrate her parents 40th anniversary) and an all expensive paid trip to Hawaii. Throw in some surprise guests, to much alcohol, and family drama, you have a story. I thought over all it was a good read. I liked the main characters, Cora’s mother was ridiculous, but considering she had a great name , I’ll let it side. There were some funny moments and some sweet romance. I didn’t like the innuendos of 89 year olds, getting it on, but all talk of sex, was behind closed doors. I think it could have been a lot shorter. A lot of repeating of what had taken place. Give it a read if you like rom cons with lots of drama and a little romance.
Somewhat formulaic, but the journey to get to the inevitable ending was a nice story. You’ll like the characters, at least the ones the author wants you to like!
Cora can’t be more different than her quirky family. She always feels like the outsider. When their parents organise a family trip to Hawai to celebrate their 40th anniversary she is not sure she can handle it. But she will find love in Hawai, even with her crazy family. And she will finally feel like she belongs. A funny and sweet love story.
Loved it!
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was definitely pleased. I laughed with Cora (sometimes at her antics), and I felt her hurt when others just didn’t seem to get who she was. She isn’t alone in her individuality, as is apparent with the assortment at the family reunion in Hawaii. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author as I really got her flair with comedy and romance combined.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Loved this fun, sweet romance! A great escape to Hawaii.
Long and not my idea of fun or exciting despite theHawaiian setting
3 stars
After a promising beginning with some humor like Cora’s dad starting his own flash mob exercise class in the airport, the fun dried up and I just lost my taste for this story. It was too long, not really very humorous and, filled with family backstabbing and squabbles, it just did not excite my interest. I actually disliked the way most of the characters treated the heroine, including most of her immediate family. The romance was pretty bland and I was really tempted to skim to get to the exciting, interesting bits but they never surfaced.
I have read a number of good stories by Melissa Baldwin and I was just disappointed with this one.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I love Melissa’s books. This is another great clean romance comedy. The characters are a little crazy, Cora is the only normal one in the Fletcher family. After a breakup that her family doesn’t agree with, the Fletcher’s have a Hawaiian family reunion and invite the ex-boyfriend in hope of a reconciliation, unbeknownst to Cora who is not happy. A last-minute guest, Owen, who is the son of her parent’s best friends (who are also normal), also Cora’s first crush is a great surprise and there is an instant attraction. How will her family influence this triangle?
Loved this book, it has everything, romance, family drama, and Hawaii of course. The characters are fantastic, especially Cora. The family she has to endure is totally dysfunctional, but they mean well. Surprises galore abound throughout the story. Add this book to your TBR pile, you will be glad you did.
I stayed up reading this one. I love Melissa Baldwin’s writing. She writes easy to read books with likable characters. The main character here, Cora, is likable even if some of her family members aren’t. Cora has to endure a lovely Hawaiian vacation with family and the setting is magical. This book is fun to read and has lots of happiness as Baldwin does so well.
