What happened after the happily ever after? You all know the story of your favorite fairytale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later…No one understands what it’s like when your mother is famous for her beauty and you are, at best, average. Actually I’m wrong. She wasn’t famous … Actually I’m wrong. She wasn’t famous just for her beauty, but that’s how people tell the story, how people have always told the story. That was even her name for a while. No one remembered her real name. She was just the sleeping princess or Sleeping Beauty. Even all these years later, when the royals appear in the paper, my father, the king barely gets a mention and I’m only a footnote in my own life, destined to always be Sleeping Beauty’s daughter.
My name’s Princess Azia Rose of Draconis and here is my story…

Well, look no further, this book is the amazing start of a retelling collection that you will totally love
Queen of Dragons is the story of Azia, Sleepy Beauty’s daugther, where we find details not told in the original fairy tale and much more
Great world building and story line, awesome FMC: Azia is an amazing young lady with a gentle and noble heart, strong will and determination, and twists and turns that will keep you turning pages and wanting for more.
Thank God we will have a new book each week, so no long waiting, yay!!!
Queen of the Dragons is a fairy tale of what happens after Sleeping Beauty happy ending. Its the story of her daughter, Princess Azia.
Azia’s parents think its now time for her to take a husban and have chosen someone for her. She’s really upset about this and not ready to mary or to even have a boyfriend. She got into a mess when she told her parent that she can’t mary that guy cause she already is seeing someone and end up telling the name of one of her guard when ask who the guy is.
This one play nicely the role because secretly he always have a crush on the princess. Something is also menacing the kingdom. Dragons are now flowing lower that usual and thats only mean that bad stuff will come.
And while getting to know the fae prince, this one think that Azia have power and she was. Since she’s adopted she never have ask her parents who her birthparents are.
Really can’t wait to know more into this story. If you love fairy tales, this is for you. Each story will have a week in the live of the character and when one story wrap-up the next character at the end.
I have received an arc of this book from the author.
This is an intriguing twist on the tale of Sleeping Beauty. I loved reading it and I am looking forward to finding out Azia’s history! I enjoyed reading this immensely!
Forget the Disney retelling. This book starts to set the stage for a completely new take on what happened after the happily ever after in many familiar fairy tales set in 12 intertwining kingdoms.
In this version of Sleeping Beauty, true love’s kiss might not have broken the curse. The dark times seem to be encroaching back on the land, the dragons are flying low, and there are secrets, so many secrets.
Azia’s education seemed a little lacking for the role she is expected to assume as future ruler. She is more interested in swordsmanship than diplomacy and DEFINITELY not interested in a boyfriend until she finds out her parents have chosen an incredibly handsome cad for her groom, which causes her to acquire a fake – definitely fake, even that kiss, I think, mmmmm – yes, fake boyfriend.
But there is something about the arranged groom, more than he is letting on…..
Enjoyable fast read, this is the book that sets the stage and asks the questions. You’ll want to dive right into the next one to find out what happens next!
I have been provided with a review copy of Queen of Dragons by the author for an impartial review. This is the first book in the brand-new Kingdom of Fairytales series and the first episode of four for the Sleeping Beauty Retelling. Since this is part one of four be ready for a cliffhanger so if that’s something you don’t like you might want to wait until all the parts are available before you start reading them. Each book is novella sized and setup in such a way that each chapter is a day in the life of the main character so each episode or book is a week in the life of the characters. I wasn’t sure if I would like this setup or the way it was written on the page with the breaks and everything, but I was pleasantly surprised with how it was done. I just had a great time reading this episode and I loved getting to meet Azia the daughter of Sleeping Beauty. It was just a story I had never considered before and I hated when I turned the last page. This story just dragged me in and I was going right along with Azia. I can’t wait to read the next episode of this series.
A great book with an amazing storyline and characters. Sleeping Beauty has a daughter, Princess Azia, whom is a talented, strong willed young lady that will do anything to prevent her marriage, especially to the snobby, powerful fae, Caspian. After an interesting first meeting she knows Caspian is not the one so she has to say something to get out of it. Unfortunately, lies have consequences and this little white lie brings a list of complications. This book has some awesome twist, action, and suspense with an ending that will have you coming back for more. I look forward to the next installment.
Queen of Dragons is a retelling of sorts of Sleeping Beauty and what happened after the happily ever after bit. Queen of Dragons tells the tale of Sleeping Beauty’s daughter Princess Azia Rose of Draconis. It is time for Azia to prepare for her taking over as the Queen when the day comes of course.
Azia’s parents believe it is time for Azia to take a husband to help guide her as Queen when she takes the throne. But Azia is not ready for marriage she wants to live life on her own and to have the opportunity to explore life and if love is in the cards for her then maybe one day she will meet her prince charming but if not that is ok too.
When the king and queen introduces Azia to her husband to be she is so upset by the idea of marring this man that when she opens her mouth out pops the words that she can’t marry this guy as she already has a boyfriend not what she expected to say at all. Her parents had no idea that she was dating anyone so when they ask who she is dating she gives them the name of one of her guards.
Azia has gotten herself in a mess now because the guard has no clue that they are dating but when she informs him of the fact he plays along nicely as I do believe the guard has a huge crush on our little princess. The news of Azia’s boyfriend does not deter her parents in the least as they continue to insist that she is to marry the other guy. Who will become the next Prince Charming the guard or this new guy that Azia does not like in the least?
Something strange is happening in the kingdom as something has changed. Dragons have always flown over the land but now they are flying lower than usual. What is up with the dragons? Why are they flying lower? Will they attack the people?
Queen of Dragons is a wonderful retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Queen of Dragons is just the beginning into a new world of fairy tale retellings that I am so happy to be a part of. I can’t wait for more in this world of retellings. Queen of Dragons has a few twists but there was one big twist that I did not see coming I was expecting one thing and got another. Wow now that was one surprising twist. After that twist I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in the next chapter of the Kingdom of Fairytales with the Heiress of Embers.
I highly recommend Queen of Dragons to anyone who loved reading the famous fairy tale Sleeping Beauty growing up. Oh and if you are into dragons then Queen of Dragons is the book for you.
I adore the concept behind J.A. Armitage’s Queen of Dragons, the first book in her new Kingdom of Fairytales serial. I mean, who hasn’t wondered about what “really” happened in what became our beloved fairy tales – and what “happily ever after” really meant? So now we get a “Sleeping Beauty” retelling of sorts by Beauty’s daughter, Princess Azia Rose of Draconis, who brings life to both her mom (much more than just a pretty face) and royal dad (not just the “Ken Doll” character he appears in the story tale). Really quite perfectly done. My only complaint is that I’d prefer for this to be longer, but I do understand that such is the concept behind this serial which will have frequent episodes without long waits between. A fair enough trade off and, if the follow ups are anything like this first book, a sweet deal indeed.
