I’ve been in love with the same woman for years. Watching her from afar, I’ve yearned to be a part of her life. But I’m not, I can’t be. I have nothing to offer the innocent…until suddenly, I do. One night, a tempest of bloodshed and death leads her to my door begging for my help, which I give. If only she knew the biggest threat, the scariest monster, was the one she just locked herself inside … she just locked herself inside with.
Others might hunt her, but Scarlett has been my prey for years. It’s time I claimed what is mine.
After all, isn’t obsession just another form of love?
I’ve been in love with the same man for as long as I can remember, aching for him, wishing he would notice me.
But then he does, and what follows is a tale of shared pain, need, and hope.
One night seals my fate, and he becomes both my saviour and my captor.
If only he knew I’m not the innocent little girl he thinks I am.
He might be dangerous, but I’m no weakling. Now, I have him and I won’t let him go.

Wow! Scarlett and Max’s love story is not your typical dark romance, and I could not be happier about that. While Max is a bit of a stalker, it is not in a “you are mine, and only mine. I will kill you before anyone else can have you” type of way. He truly loves Scarlett and wants to see her happy and safe, even if he can never have her. Scarlett is firstly betrayed as a young girl with a crush on her older neighbor, but we are quickly shown that he really isn’t much older than her and that her feelings go well beyond a school girl crush. The connections that the 2 main characters have is so deep and so wonderfully showcased and explored, that you almost forget how physically attracted to one another they are. Don’t get me wrong, there is plently of swoonworthy angest and hot as hell sex that I have come to love from Katie, but Scarlett and Max’s relationship is lightyears beyond a down and dirty, sexual relationship. Beyond the two main characters, the story itself was different than normal romances. I’m sure we are all used the typical storyline of couple gets together, couple breaks up, couple experiences some trimatic event that brings them back together, couple lives happily ever after, etc. Well, without giving too much away, Katie found a way to incorporate all of the above in an atypical order that was refreshing and kept me excited throughout the book. I would definitely recommend Scarlett Limerance to new K.A. Knight readers, as well as, readers who already love her.
