Australian celebrity chef Jack Carter is determined to convince his estranged wife he’s not the smooth-talking workaholic she married six years ago. Olivia has invited him to Canada for Christmas, not for herself but for the sake of their three-year-old daughter Scarlett. Jack willingly agreed, hoping this is the second chance he’s been looking for.Olivia has been hurt too many times by her … by her soon-to-be-ex-husband and she doesn’t trust him anymore. But she has to deal with him for Scarlett’s sake, because her child deserves to grow up with both parents.
But when Jack joins them in Niagara-on-the-Lake for Christmas and asks Olivia to reconsider the divorce, she is shocked. And more than a little worried that a part of her wants to say yes.
Jack promises he’ll give up everything for her and Scarlett, but Olivia is not convinced. Can he really turn his back on his high-flying television career in Australia and the lifestyle that comes with it?
Will ten days over Christmas be enough time for Jack and Olivia to mend their broken hearts? Or will it take Jack’s career or an unexpected accident to rip them apart again?

Does He Deserve a Second Chance?
This is the first book that I have read by Nikki Edwards. I have to say that I am impressed by her ability to understand and communicate what it is like to be a woman in the position such as the heroine is in this book. Having been divorced for similar reasons to the heroine, the author got it spot-on about how it feels to be betrayed by seeming indifference and being dead last in your spouse’s priorities. She explored the heroine’s thoughts and feelings, which seemed very authentic to me, as they shifted and changed as she had to deal more and more with her soon-to-be ex and the memories that brought up. Of course, in her case, it didn’t help that there were lies and half-truths meant to dissemble. Scarlett, the couple’s little girl, was darling, of course. I enjoyed this lovely, heartfelt holiday read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
A celebrity chef, to busy to provide for his family to see that he is losing them. His wife asking for a divorce and returning to her homeland brings the situation sharply in focus. And he is trying anything to get his family back. To make Christmas special for her daughter Olivia is asking Jack to spend Christmas with them, not really believing he will take the time off to make the trip. Jack, seeing his chance to show her he has changed , is arriving a few days before Christmas.
A good story of misguided love, realising that material things are less important than time. A good message at any time of the year, but of course, especially heard around Christmas time. An entertaining story with a touch of serious message to it.

This was an awesome book that I enjoyed. The story and characters pulled me in and I couldn’t stop reading. It’s a Christmas second chance story of Jack and Olivia who are in the process of getting a divorce. Olivia decides to invite Jack to visit his daughter over Christmas for 10 days thinking he won’t come because he’s always to busy. But Jack wants to change and show his family he’s changed and deserves a second chance. It’s a realistic story very well written with wonderful characters a definite must read for any fan and I can’t wait to read more!!!

This is a sweet read about second chances. Jack and Olivia are still in love but have a lot of obstacles to cross to save their relationship, living on different continents is just one of them! They have a daughter who needs both of them. A lovely story with a very nice HEA.

Jack is a well known Australian with several restaurants and his own cooking show called the Chopping Block. He and Olivia are still married but currently getting a divorce. Olivia decides to be nice and invite Jack to visit his daughter for ten days during the Christmas Holidays. When she extends the invitation she figures Jack won’t come because he was always too busy working to do things as a family. So she tells no-one that she invited him and is extremely surprised when he shows up.
Jack wants to change and show Olivia that he does love his family and deserves a second chance. This is an emotional book and I couldn’t decide if I wanted them to get back together or not. Jack seemed like he was sincere but then sometimes it is hard to expect the best from someone who hasn’t shown you that before.
I have read all the books that Nicki Edwards has written and none of them have disappointed me. I especially enjoy a good Christmas book and this was certainly that.
Second Chance Christmas – This is my first read by this author and I like it. The storylines are interesting since the main characters come from places thousands of miles apart; AU and CA.
The characters are likeable and realistic. There is plenty of sexual tension along with good humor and emotions that run the gamut.
Clean, delightful and heartwarming, this well told story with its vivid descriptions make it hard to put down. I found this author on Booksprout. 4*
This is the third or fourth book by Nicki Edwards I’ve read. I really enjoyed it. It was a sweet story about giving love a second chance. It was well written and I found myself caring about the characters, so much so, I read it in one sitting!
It was the perfect book to read on the last day of school holidays, while the kids were enjoying their last day of freedom!
