Maria is waiting to hear about a job working with kids. Her life is spiraling out of control when she sees an ad in the paper for a spankologist who specializes in stress and other anxiety disorders. I really enjoyed the character interaction between Maria and Damien. The idea of having someone spank the stress away is very interesting. Maria’s way of trying to deal with life is not healthy and something needs to change. Damien enters the picture with his own firm way of making life more bearable. I like that Damien made sure to end their professional relationship before trying to date Maria. The fact that she has abandonment issues just makes it that much harder for Maria to believe that Damien could want her for her. I was surprised by the ending. I was sure that I had figured it out but was pleased with the direction that the story actually took.
This is my first time reading anything by this author. I thought the plot was interesting and it dealt with a number of different issues that Maria experiences making her down to earth and quite normal. What isn’t as normal is how she goes about dealing with her anxiety, but it works for her. It’s an interesting romance story and I’ll be looking out for more works by this author in the future.

Falling for the Spankologist
Naming His Price is the first book that I have read by Jessica Lynne. I was not sure what to expect but it looked interesting and possibly funny with the premise of “spankology” so I decide to pick it up.
Maria Spallone is a a young woman who is a bit overweight and has not had much success with me. She recently graduated college with a specialization in Early Childhood Education and goes on her first job interview for a position at a school. She is at a bit of a crossroads in her life as she does not have a job, not boyfriend or partner and still lives with her mother, who is a wonderful character in her own right. Maria feels bad about herself and hates parts of her body which she thinks have kept a man from loving her fully, from her father to any boyfriend or potential partner.
Maria decides to go to a therapist who specializes in “spankology”. It is supposed to help with anxiety and other things. The therapist is Damien Price and he tries to help her overcome her mind and emotions to allow love and good things into her life with an open heart.
I thought the book was well written and had a good story-line and well developed characters. The author dealt with several subjects that could be triggers for people but she wrote about them in a mature and authentic way without exploiting them. In the end this was an emotion reading experience but well worth it.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Maria has problems with her father leaving both her and her mother Carly. She has never gotten all of those feelings out and she needs a father figure to help and Damien tries to help as clinical therapist and spankologist. He finds an attraction to her so he takes her out and when they are almost finished with their meal she is having to purge and Damien finds out so he is going to get her well and healthy. He helps her in many ways to control her weight in a healthy way and moves her in with him so he can control what she eats so she will feel better about her body image.

I was torn in this book between thinking Damien was awesome and hoping Maria would grow up a bit. That said, I have to say that the portrayal of Maria’s eating disorder and her panic about life in general is so well written that it’s almost tangible. I also loved how Damien wrestled with his attraction to Maria despite being her therapist. Those aspects kicked it from 3 to 4 stars for me because I didn’t feel there was a real story. So – great H, great psychological aspects got my vote.

Maria has a lot of issues. When she starts treatment with a therapist who uses alternative methods, she’s not sure she’s doing the right thing. Damian has always been a spanko, so incorporating spank therapy into his practice was a easy decision. Once he meets Maria, he is instantly intrigued. Being her therapist may not work out. There are some triggers in this spanking story, but you will find it a good read. Spanking romance. Hand, paddle.

Maria has a very poor self image and has been binging and purging. She becomes depressed and doesn’t want to do anything. She has recently graduated from college and has applied for a job working with children who have learning difficulties.
One day while reading the classifieds she sees an ad for therapy where the therapist specialises in spankology. Maria decides after calling the therapist Damien, that she would pay him a visit.
Damien is good at his treatment and Maria makes a second appointment. But when she arrives and starts her treatment, Damien calls a halt to it as there has become feelings between them that is not professional.
Damien and Maria go on a date and after they have eaten, Maria has only half finished, she excuses herself and goes to the bathroom where she purges what she ate.
Damien realises what has happened and gets Maria to face up to her problems. She agrees to stay with him so he can help her, but as her partner not as her therapist. Damien helps Maria through a lot and they fall in love along the way and eventually have a happily ever after.

This was an interesting premise. Maria is having problems dealing with her life. She feels out of control and she purges to make her feel she has control. But, she knows this is wrong and she sees the ad for Damien’s service. He is a psychotherapist that specializes in spanking. After their first session, he feels something for Maria and tells her that he cannot be her therapist as he wants to date her. Not only does he date her, but he helps her with her emotional issues. This was a good story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
‘Naming His Price’ is an interesting story about a young woman at a crossroads in her life. Maria just graduated college and is trying to find a job while battling emotional problems and fears of abandonment, plus, she struggles with an eating disorder.
When she reads an interesting yet bizarre newspaper ad boasting the services of disciplinarian and spankologist Dr. Damien Price, her life is forever changed. Can she find healing at the office of the good doctor?
I always struggle when I read stories that contain eating disorders. It’s a touchy subject and has the potential to be triggering for some. All believability aside, because therapeutic spanking in our puritanical western culture isn’t terribly realistic to me, it was the way Damien loved Maria in spite of the way she saw herself that made the biggest impact on me. These worms we allow into our heads through the media and people around us that tell us being ourselves isn’t good enough, that eat away at our self-confidence. I love the image of that strong protector that will stand beside us and support us, assist us as we slay these dragons that are slowly destroying us. Yeah, there are definitely parts of Maria’s story I can strongly relate to. Damien isn’t fully believable to me. There’re just too many things about him and his actions that don’t add up quite right. But Maria? She’s living breathing flesh and bone to me.
