Earth is alive. Deep beneath her skin is our planet’s life blood. Rivers of molten iron, pushing around a core – her beating heart. This moving, fluid iron generates the magnetic field maintaining the delicate balance of life on earth. Until she has a change of heart.“Spellbinding. Best Akart book to date–no one can hold your attention better!”International bestselling author Bobby Akart … better!”
International bestselling author Bobby Akart delivers pulse-pounding thrills in The Geostorm Series, the story of a planet-changing phenomenon, a natural disaster brought about by the Earth itself.
“Every time I have read a series by this author, I think, wow, this is the best. Now, I think, this is definitely the best. Action, suspense, everything–a definite thumbs up.”
The Earth’s magnetic field surrounds our planet like an invisible force field connected by a north and south pole. It’s what makes compasses point north and it protects our atmosphere from the continual bombardment of geomagnetic storms from the Sun. Without a magnetic field, the planet’s atmosphere would be stripped away leaving critical infrastructure at risk and humanity exposed to deadly radiation.
What happens when these poles begin to wander? This field grows weaker with deadly consequences for all of humanity. The change in the world’s climate could change the face of the planet as we know it.
“Akart is one of those very rare authors who makes things so visceral, so real, that you experience what he writes.”
Readers will become enthralled with the discoveries of Chapman Boone, former storm chaser, and full-time field meteorologist who begins to experience extraordinary weather anomalies. His sister, Kristi Boone, is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine known for being attune to the exotic animals within her care. At first, the changes in the animals’ behavior are subtle … until they aren’t. Follow the story of the Squire and Sarah Boone family, Indiana farmers and their children who begin to recognize the signs of The Shift.
“Akart has written an epic story that blends behavioral and earth sciences in the newly emerging cli-fi, climate fiction, genre.”

I’ve never read a bad book by Bobby Akart. This man can keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the page to see what happens next. Of course, all the other books I’ve read by him have been completed series, so I got to go right on to the next book until the end of the story. With this one, I’m going to have to wait until the next one comes out before I find out what happens next. Not fair!
Just when I thought Author Bobby Akart had run out of scenarios to scare the bejesus out of me, he has come up with a new peril. He had already used solar storm in “ The Blackout “ series, EMP in “ The Lone Star “ and “ Doomsday “series, plague in “ The Pandemic “ series and a volcano in “ The Yellowstone “ series. What’s left? Polar shift, that’s what. Also known as geomagnetic reversal. Rivers of molten iron deep within the planet generate the magnetic field that maintains the delicate balance of life on Earth. Changes in this magnetic field cause increases in the amount of solar radiation that reaches us, changes in animal behavior, and changes in the weather. In short, the magnetic field prevents Earth from becoming an irritated, electrified wasteland. Sound like junk science? Do your own research ! This is a work of fiction , this, and all of Akart’s novels are based on fact. All of Author Bobby Akart’s novels are extremely well researched and based on historical facts. If you have not read any of Mr Akart’s work, “ The Shift “ is a good place to start.
Very interesting and thought-provoking. Scientific questions seemed to be thoroughly researched and presented in an understandable format. I would like to read more of this author’s books.
Awesome read! Thought provoking.. how prepared would I be?
It was a little slow. The author is trying to set the scene for the following five books in the series. I hope that the pace picks up in the next book
Love the series
Awful!
I am a fan of the author. Action packed with family ties. Good read.
A fast action, really good reading.
This whole series is phenomenal. Could not put it down.
I started reading this book and became excited that it started in the Seattle area. Having lived in Bellevue
(suburbs kinda..across some water) three times it reminded me of why I left. The constant drizzle and a few earthquakes. A good memory. My Dad said Elliott Bay was named after MY family. It isn’t.
The benefits of reading Bobby Akart’s books is the wealth of information we store away, use, but it’s always good in a trivia tournament. It is quotes like ” First, let me give viewers the lay of the land …..” That is when I know I need to slow down my reading and ‘listen’. Listened I did. Of all of the disasters, I can see this happening. No one’s fault. It affects everyone. How will you react? Save the world, just get home or protect what’s yours.
Every first book of Bobby Akart’s he sets the stage, you are well acquainted with the characters and fellow readers we can’t wait for Book Two because we are impatient and greedy for our next ‘fix’. I already know who my hero will be. Chapman Boone. He better not die later on in this series. Grrrrr
As always, the writing is entertaining, research is mind boggling, editing superb, the flow is seamless, it is definitely a pleasure to read.
Fav quotes: (paraphrasing this)…. service animals were allowed to accompany travelers with disabilities on board a flight…..people pushed the limits of laws to see what they could get away with. Over time, the number of ESAs increased one hundred fifty percent and began to include pigs, small horses, and even chickens….
“You’re gay?” Tommy began to laugh. “Nope, not that either. Committed. Dedicated. Workaholic.” Kristi was intrigued at the male version of herself. “Asexual?” Tommy laughed and shrugged. “I suppose if I don’t find someone to date soon, I will be.”
