One Bad Boy Rock StarOne Woman Who Refuses to Fall at His FeetTwo Broken HeartsOne Last Second Chance at LoveKane Harrison was born to play the part of the ultimate bad boy rock star. Trouble was, the life he lived wasn’t a game. Abused and discarded as a child, he used alcohol, drugs, and sex as weapons to combat the memories.
More than his salvation, playing music with his band, Razor’s Edge, was his only lifeline. Then he met Joplin Ashford and for the first time in his life, he understood the meaning of love. She was light to his dark and his hardened heart began to soften.
Joplin had a plan. For one year, she would act as manager for the up and coming rock group, Razor’s Edge, and earn her stripes in the music industry. The last thing she needed was to fall for an out of control musician with an ego the size of Texas. But try as she might, she couldn’t resist.
Loving Kane wasn’t easy, but Joplin was determined to fight until her last breath to be with him—even if her biggest obstacle was Kane himself.
Kane’s heart belonged to Joplin. Yet, to save them both, he walked away from Razor’s Edge, and the only woman he would ever love.
Five years later, they have one last second chance. Kane’s worked hard to be the man Joplin always believed him to be. Now, he must prove to her—and himself—the demons of his past aren’t as important as their future. Together.

Walking away from the only woman he ever loved, and the only thing that kept him sane, broke Kane enough to begin healing. After a musical career that went from nothing, to top of the charts, Kane had to decide on his own to stop the carousel of bad decisions
Needing to prove herself to her uncle and the music industry, Joplin discovered Razors Edge and with her uncles help, moved them with meteoric speed to the top. Joplin let the man who stole her heart walk away. For him and for her, it was the right thing to do.
After a world tour, Razors Edge imploded. Five years ago, all four band members went their separate ways.
Now, Joplin’s uncle is dying. His wish is to reunite Razor’s Edge for a benefit reunion concert. He tasks Joplin with making his dying wish a reality. She’s spoken to three of the band members already, with little success. She must now face the man she loved, and still loves, to see if Kane will work with her on this last project.
Finding Kane in small town Maine, she’s amazed at the changes that have taken place in his life. Will he acquiesce to her uncle’s wish? How much has he changed in the past five years? Can the time that has passed have made a difference in their feelings for each other?
What a fabulous ending to this series! Right when you think it’s never going to happen; Ms. Williams throws in the perfect ending!
This is Book 4 in the Rock and Roll Forever series. It can be a stand-alone, although there are references to the people in the first three books and it might be more readable if you’ve read the first three. Not totally necessary but your enjoyment of the whole story might be enhanced by reading the series!
This is one of the sweetest and most emotional second-chance-romances I have read in a long time.
It felt like coming full circle…
Joplin is such a caring, empathtic, strong and inspiring heroine and it was so awesome to read about her past and her view of all things Kane…
Kane, the big mistery and Kane the addict… I fell hard and fast for him and his story… It felt as if I was meeting the proverbially lost son…
The story is told in flashbacks and in a masterly and sensitive way that made me read it in one go, out of curiosity about what would happen next.
Another phenomenal book in this fantastic series, and I loved every single word.
This is book 4 of the series, but they could be stand alone books. Razor’s Edge fell apart years ago, but Joplin was on a mission to reunite the band members before her uncle dies. The last one on the list is Kane, because he broke her heart all those years ago. The book is emotional, well-written and has amazing characters. I loved all the books, this was no exception. This is a must-read series!
I enjoy reading Mary J. Williams’ books for a multitude of reasons, mostly because even though they are written as a series, each is an independent, stand alone book that will draw you in and keep you involved from the first page to the last, whether you have read other books in the series or not. I love the creative approach Ms Williams has taken in the Rock & Roll Forever series. Not only are the characters in this series tied together to create a touching story line, but she also brought in some friends from the past to give the series more depth.
As I was reading Almost Home I could close my eyes and actually see the story develop before my eyes as if I were watching it on television. I felt the emotions that were flowing between Kane and Joplin and had tears flowing more than once. It was so fun to see how the other characters from the Rock & Roll Forever series made appearances at crucial moments to complete the story line and tie it all up with a lovely bow.
This is the story that fills in the details of Joplin Ashford and Kane Harrison and what happened to complete the breakup of Razor’s Edge five years earlier. Joplin has been traveling the country meeting with each of the former members of Razor’s Edge. She is trying to get them to attend a reunion set up by her uncle, who is dying. Her journey to visit each member has them thinking about the consequences of their break-up and the role that each person had in it.
Unbeknownst to Joplin, after every one of her visits, some healing occurs. As a result, phone calls happen, and estranged friends that used to be closer than brothers, are speaking again. Indirectly, she leads each former band member to the person they are meant to be with. In this story, it is her turn. She wants to find the answers to those questions that went unanswered so many years ago regarding her relationship with Kane.
Kane finally grows up and decides that he wants to be a stronger and better person than he thinks he is. The only example that he has to go by, is the example set by his father, who was a horrid man. When that is all one knows, one begin to believe that that is all there is. It takes Kane a long time to figure out that he can choose a different path, and subdue the demons that threaten him. He is now healthy and happy and more content than he has ever been. This is the man that Joplin finds when she seeks Kane out. He is a more mature and reasonable version of the Kane she knew from before. Joplin is also a more mature version of the woman she was before as well. She has five additional years in the music business under her belt, and she’s engaged to a lawyer who is also in the music business. She believes that this will keep her safe from any residual feelings that may remain regarding the love she once had for Kane.
There are many subtle tensions evident in this story. The pacing keeps the reader engaged and the story flows smoothly, all while slowly revealing answers to the multiple questions that the reader has regarding the demise of Razor’s Edge, and what really happened to make Kane self-destruct five years earlier. His earlier pain is palpable, and his behaviors reflect this. It’s amazing that Joplin even saw any redeeming qualities in Kane; yet she did, and that is one of the factors that helps him recover.
This is a beautifully written book. It is filled with angst, stupid choices, and heartache; however, it is also filled with healing, recovery, and wisdom. There is a tremendous growth arc for both protagonists, and this is fulfilling for the reader. This is the culmination of the prior three books in this series, and as such, it seems heavier, and yet lighter at the same time. The ending is spectacular, and parts of it are unexpectedly brilliant.
Well done, Ms. Williams.

Rock & Roll Forever
Books Three and Four
By: Mary J. Williams
Narrated by: Daniela Acitelli
I love this series and can not praise or recommend it enough. Michelle J. Williams is a gifted author, she creates creates interesting storylines that captivates both your attention and your heart from start to end. This set is a two book deal, books three and four of her “Rock & Roll Forever” series, while each book is unique to it’s characters storylines they are both second chance romances or second chance at living again, depending how you look at it. “Almost Everything” is Morgan McCloud’s story, we learn little of him in earlier book and he left just before Razors Edge imploded, some may say it was his running off that initiated the band’s demise but in truth it was a whole lot more. Morgan revealed very little about himself to others, like to stay in the shadows even while on stage. The mystery of him and what makes him tick and where he came from makes this story even more interesting. And what a story he has, he left the band for the girl he fell in love with while in H.S., India Curtis. It was a secret and forbidden relationship, two people from completely different worlds, she is from a wealthy and powerful family and he was raised by a derelict father who could care less about him. Morgan’s saving grace was working for the Reinholds, Marcy and Sven, they were good to him and treated him like their son. India’s future was planned out for her by her greedy father but she planned on rebelling and made future plans with Morgan. But when their relationship is found out everything changes, Morgan is forced to leave and go out on his own which leads him to becoming a successful musician in a successful band. When he hears news of India he leaves to confront her, what he finds out devastates him, makes him a bitter man and sets him on a mission, one of vengeance. Morgan’s story really hit me, my heart went out to him and then India after learning how life turned out for her. I love how everything plays out in their story, it is plotted out nicely with plenty of drama, some angst, twists & turns and a whole lot of heartfelt and emotional moments. The ending and the lead to it made me very happy. And again the storyline that brings the series together, Joplin Ashford trying to fulfill her Uncle Danny’s dying wish of getting the band back together for one more performance. You got to give that girl a lot of credit, Morgan is the 4th person she asked and the 4th to say no. Last but not least is the final member she needs to visit, the one she fell in love with, Kane Harrison. This brings us to the 4th “Almost Home”, Kane’s story. And yes, his is another awesome story. It is great to learn out each member of the band, I thought Morgan had it bad growing up but Kane had it just as bad, he lacked self worthiness and became his own worst enemy living a life of self destruction. He had feelings for Joplin but she was out of his league. When she went to see Kane she saw how much his life changed, he was learning to live a better life. She told him about her Uncle’s dying wish, her Uncle, Danny Graham was Razors Edge’s manager and he agreed to go. Now to get the rest of the members on board, some whom already reunited and/or started talking again. I won’t give much away but I will say I loved her Uncle’s reasoning for the reunion. Well done Uncle Danny, well done Mary J. Williams! Thank you for these amazing books, they are wonderful stories and I loved them and the characters too.
I listened to the Audible edition, Daniela Acitelli is a fantastic narrator and voice artist. She continues to bring these characters to life giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Her portrayal of the characters is spot on, she rocks each role to perfection, you not only hear the characters but she makes you feel what they are feeling. She is a talented storyteller and enhances an already awesome story another level. Thank you for another awesome listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
A continuation of the series about the Razor’s Edge series of books. Joplin discovered Razor’s Edge playing in a bar. She got them on the road to fame and fortune. Kane had always attracted Joplin, but he had a troubled past and had difficulties with his addictions. Joplin’s uncle, the famous promoter wants Joplin to get the band together for a reunion before he dies. Joplin reconnects with Kane and finds that she is still deeply attracted to him. He’s a changed man. Can they make it this time around?
This is another well written story by the author. Dialog and the story are both easy to read. I’ve come to know and love these characters through the 4 books I’ve read. I highly recommend these books. Although there is adult content, I think most readers would enjoy this book and the earlier ones in the series.
I’ve looked forward to reading this book since the beginning and loved it. This was a great second chance love story and the perfect ending to this series. This book brought out all of my emotions especially at the end. Mary J Williams has written another awesome series and I can’t wait for the next one. I highly recommend this book!
This has been a really great series but this book is my favorite. I loved that Kane and Joplin got their HEA.
4.5*s loved this.
The end of another enjoyable series. Kane, the lady of Razor’s Edge to get his story and for the group to come full circle. Kane’s story is full of regrets, the biggest being Joplin. As Joplin’s mission for the reunion brings her in front of the one man who walked away from her, it was great to see how it all worked it out.
Four men formed because of music, four men reunited because of the music. Sometimes you need to be reminded of the good. I cried at the end, but know they were mostly happy tears for all of the couples.
The long-awaited (for me at least) story of Joplin and Kane has arrived. This is the story I have been waiting for since I read the first book in this series. I must say it wasn’t what I was expecting. While it is still a good story, I was anticipating more angst, way more tears and that wasn’t the case.
As we know from the previous books, Joplin has been on the road visiting members of the now defunct Razor’s Edge band trying to convince them to have a reunion for her dying uncle Danny Graham. So far with no success. Her last and most dreaded visit was to Kane Harrison’s home. Not knowing what to expect, she braced herself for the encounter.
Kane is living a quiet, unassuming life in a small town away from the glitz and glamour of rock stardom. The road has been a bumpy one full of trials and tribulations but he has managed to get his life together but sadly that doesn’t include making music.
I don’t know what I was expecting when Kane and Joplin finally saw each other after 5 years, but I thought it would be much more dramatic and gut-wrenching than what actually took place. I was waiting to get my heart crushed and to ugly cry for days. I was disappointed that I really didn’t. And also, I wish Joplin would have given her “fiance” a good tongue lashing. He deserved to be decimated.
I absolutely loved this series and loved all the characters. Having said that, it was a bit of a let down. Kane was by far the most troubled and broken member of Razor’s Edge and although we knew some of his background, I expected much more insight into why he broke Joplin’s heart. I wanted a heart to heart, emotional confrontation between these two characters where they spilled each other’s guts out but nothing. In my opinion, it was anticlimactic and so was the “reunion”. I was super excited to see the band back together. This also left a lot to be desired for me. My only actual cry in this story was for Danny Graham, if you can believe that. Overall, if we’re talking about the series as a whole it’s definitely worth reading.
