She’s the woman of his dreams. If only she didn’t despise him… plan to redeem himself. When she arrives at his family estate, he’ll finally be able to win her heart. Too bad he’s not the only one there with the very same idea…
The last thing Mary wants is time alone with the insufferable Caleb. But since he’s one of her twin’s best friends, declining his invitation is out of the question. She’ll just have to do her best to ignore the charismatic, overly confident rogue. Only…he’s not acting like a rogue this time. Surely the little glimpses she catches of his softer, kinder side are an act…right?
Can Caleb and Mary overcome years’ worth of misunderstandings and missteps—not to mention a persistent rival for Mary’s affections—to find their very own happily ever after? Or, when all is said and done, will The Charming Rogue be left alone once again?
This Regency Era romance is stand alone novel and is book #3 in The Pathways to Romance series. It is rated G and features an enemies to lovers storyline.

The Charming Rogue by Cinnamon Worth is a clean regency romance.
Caleb is too charming and too perfect, and Mary doesn’t like him one bit. Caleb, on the other hand, adores Mary and tries endlessly to get her attention. He manages to get her to stay at his family’s estate for a while, but just as he thinks he will gain some headway, another man swoops in.
This book was cute. I feel for Caleb in the first half. Everything he does to try to get Mary to like him fails miserably. He has to get her brother to blackmail her in order to get her to visit his family for a while. Poor guy. I understood Mary’s point of view as well. She thought he flirted with everyone and was always showing off his talents, and so she didn’t take his interest seriously but was offended at him.
There was some definite character development in this story, which I enjoyed. And the complications to their romance – besides their initial misunderstandings – made the story quite interesting. Also, once the romance did take off, they fell in love a little too quickly. But on the whole, it was a sweet, clean romance.
I enjoyed this audiobook’s narrator. She did a good job giving life to the characters, and her voice was perfect for the time period the book was set in.
I received a complementary copy of this audiobook from the author. I received no compensation, and was not otherwise obligated to write a review. Everything I wrote was the truth.
As with the previous book in this series, The Charming Rogue starts off right where The Duke and The Damsel ended. In it, we find the story between Mr. Caleb James and Ms. Mary Walker. Of course, as a reader who has been following these books closely, I found it intriguing that after all this time, even though Mr. James has always been talking (and been teased by his friends) for his affections for Ms. Walker, that said character actually didn’t correspond his feelings and rather had a firm dislike of him. Thus, I really enjoyed how the author threw these two together, and how that created the most interesting outcomes.
I liked Mary’s change of heart, and how she (finally) learned, I think, not to judge someone so quickly, or not jump to conclusions. The romance was really sweet, and I really liked the ending. I also liked how through each book in this series, the reader can certainly see the growth of the author’s writing. And while this book isn’t one of her P&P adaptions, I felt it had certain nuances from it 🙂
Of course, a great part of my enjoyment while reading/listening to this book came from its narrator since she did a great job with all the voices from the different characters (I certainly liked Ms. Walker’s and Mr. James’), and how she managed to convey most of the nuances and emotions the characters were feeling. ~ 4.5 stars
Caleb has helped behind the scenes, as his closest friends have navigated the choppy waters of romance. Meanwhile, he has pined for Mary, the younger sister of one of his friends from university.
Though Caleb is able to guide his friends to overcome their obstacles to love, every time he tries to get Mary’s attention, he makes a fool of himself, without even realizing his faux pas.
When Mary agrees to spend time at Caleb’s estate to appease her brother, can Caleb prove to her that she was mistaken her assessment of his character and motives?
I received an ARC copy of this audiobook, and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Cinnamon Worth truly writes the most charming stories. I loved this series since book 1 and I can’t wait to read about Fitz’s wedding. LoL.
I enjoyed this clean regency romance. The narrator also did a pretty good job with the voices
Caleb James bumbled his secret courtship of Mary Walker in so many ways, from knocking her into the water, giving her flowers she is allergic to, and shooting pigeons when she has an affection for them. She thinks he is arrogant and can’t stand him. But after her brother Anthony convinces her to go with him to visit Caleb and his sister at his uncle’s estate, she sees a different side of him that he hides from his friends. But there are still misunderstandings and some continued bumbling that causes turbulence in their relationship.
Fun story. Her misperceptions, his unrequited love… While this book can be read as a standalone, much of the background to the story and depth to secondary characters is found in the other books in the series. This was one of the better stories in the series, in my opinion.
The Charming Rogue
Interesting characters and their story as they fight for the future that they want

Book 3 in the series, it’s the story of Caleb and Mary. Caleb has loved Mary for years, but all his efforts have been disastrous and have drawn results opposite of what he’d hoped. Basically, Mary can’t stand him.
The book is a miss-mash of miscommunications, false assumptions, and prejudices. Mary was hard for me to like. She’s a selfish brat, and rude to Caleb and her brother. It wasn’t until late in the story that the relationships changed. There were some things left not completely tied up, although there was some veiled closure.
I liked the book because I’ve been waiting to read Caleb’s story. He’d been in love with Mary since before the first book. If you’ve read the series so far, you’ll want to read this too. Cinnamon is always an author that I enjoy.
I listened to this on Audible also and was quite disappointed with the narrator. Her voice sounded sing-song to me and, in my opinion, hurt the story. I cannot recommend the audio version.
“The Charming Rogue: Pathways to romance book 3” by Cinnamon Worth
What a fun, easy, clean, sweet Regency romance. I was gifted a download code by the author via StoryOrigin and downloaded the story from Audible.com. I just enjoyed listening to this fun romp. The road to true love surely is plagued with many a wrong-turn, and mis-understanding to be sure. I do love reading stories such as this one. This is a stand alone read within a series. I also like it when one it is not required that one read each story in the series in the order they were written/released. Surely do hope you enjoy this story also. Happy Reading
Caleb has always had feelings for Mary, but anytime he tried to express himself, things went horribly wrong. Maybe his new plan to win her over will work… or maybe it won’t.
I have to admit, Caleb and Mary were not my favorite characters, but they did elicit and emotional response. Cinnamon Worth did her job.
The narration by Megan Green was well done. She definitely brought out the personalities of each of the characters.
