The plot is an exciting one and the characters are well rounded and strong. There is a lot going on in this story and the author has done a great job world building.

Siobhan is prisoner of a dragon. Doyle is the only one who seem to want to help her but can she trust him. Doyle has secrets. I really enjoyed this book.
Fantasy isnt my normal genre, but I really enjoyed this one. Alot of feeling like you were in the story with the characters. Looking forward to more of this series. All in all a great read for me.

Highly entertaining epic fantasy romance!
I have loved this series (previously called The Tales of the Dark Court” and now renamed the “Fae Magic” series), and I am highly impressed by this latest installment (previously named “The Winter Queen’s Dragon”). This is the fourth novel of the series, and it keeps getting better! There is lots of action and magic, but the best part is the internal consistency. Details relate back in interesting ways to things in previous books in the series, as well as the timeline remaining coherent. This internal consistency rivals that of the genius Kresley Cole’s epic paranormal romance series, “Immortals After Dark”. Fans of that series should try “Fae Magic” as we wait for Kresley Cole’s next book. I am also impressed with how thoroughly Jessica Aspen thought out how magic works in this world. The magic makes sense and is important for the plot.
This novel mostly takes place in Underhill, the magical realm ruled by the elves, or the “Elvatians”, as the author calls them. Multiple magical species dwell there, such as dwarves, pukah, the Fir Bolg, and dragons. The main characters are Siobhan, a spunky lower class Elvatian, and Doyle Atavantador, a dragon who can secretly shapeshift.
The book is told in the past tense, third person perspective that alternates mostly between Siobhan and Doyle. A few chapters are told from Ardan’s perspective; he is an Elvatian warrior who has been brainwashed by the evil Queen of the Winter Court. I like how the great enemy in the book, the Winter Queen, is suitably sinister and twisted but does not overtake the book with too much screen time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was not perfect, but its minor imperfections pale in comparison to how much fun it was to read and how much depth the series has. I love the many visual details that make me feel as if I am in Underhill with Siobhan. There were some minor typos but not enough to bother me. I mostly liked the two main characters, but they were occasionally annoying by displaying too much arrogance or being hard-headed. There are a few brief love scenes, and I wish that they were a little bit steamier.
I recommend this book and the entire series to all fans of fantasy romance and paranormal romance. It can be read as a standalone, but reading the rest of the series later will enrich your experience.
