Gretchen Volmer didn’t come home last night. It’s Sunday morning and her dad has heard nothing from her since she left for the concert the night before. When he learns that her best friend is also missing, and her car has been abandoned in another town, his worry turns to fear. An Army veteran and former cop, Den Volmer gathers emotional and logistical resources for pursuing his daughter. The … The police think she might simply be exercising the freedom of a nineteen-year-old. Den knows his girl. Something is wrong. And now he’s in a frantic race to find the abducted girls before they’re dropped into the darkness of the underworld.
For her part, Gretchen knows that her father won’t stop until he finds her. She only has to stay alive and keep her friend Jennica from falling apart. She tries to get Jenn to laugh, and attempts a human connection with her captors, even as she looks for a way to escape.
Inspired by Cory Asbury’s song, “Reckless Love,” this is the story of a father’s unstoppable passion for his daughter. Whatever his flaws, and deficits in skill, nothing is stronger than Den’s unfailing love for his girl.

A beautiful story of a father’s relentless search for his daughter…because of love. The author is an expert at suspense mystery writing. I had a hard time putting down this book, wanting to know what was going to happen! Great action scenes and wonderfully developed characters. A definite winner!
I stayed up past way past my bedtime last night reading this book – I couldn’t put it down! It is inspired by Cory Asbury’s song “Reckless Love”, and is the story of a father’s fight to rescue his daughter. It is very realistic and kept me on edge, wondering and worrying about the outcome. The plot is very well developed and is very descriptive. It made me think on the Heavenly Father’s love for us and how He never gives up on, but pursues His own children, no matter what. I would highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to check out some of the author’s other books!
This book launches tomorrow, November 1st! Jeffrey McClain Jones was inspired to write this book after hearing Cory Asbury’s song, Restless Love. This book shows everything a loving father would go through to pursue and save his daughter. It was a bit slow for me at times until midway through to the end when the action picked up quite a bit. Because I know the song that inspired this book, once I was finished reading the book I just sat in awe thinking about how much my heavenly Father would go through to save one of his precious children – oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine. Overall, a great read and it’s available tomorrow!
This was the first of Jeffrey McClain Jones‘s books that I have read, but it won’t be the last! I would advise you not to start too late at night because it was hard to put down!
This book was well written, fast paced and suspenseful.
I highly recommend you get a copy!
I absolutely loved this book. The story is so engaging and captivating, it is hard to put it down. The story pulls you in and connects to you on an emotional level. The characters are well developed you feel as if you know them and are cheering them on every step of the way. This is the story of a Father’s love for his child. I loved how the father (Den) knew his daughter so well, and how he trusted his gut instincts no matter what. It is a story of perseverance and never giving up, no matter how difficult the circumstances of around you may seem. Love prevails. I highly recommend this book!
I loved reading this book! I hated to put it down. It was easy to get caught up in the story and very relevant to today. I appreciated the hope and trust in God throughout the book. I loved the story line of the father pursuing his daughter; it was a great reminder of how my Heavenly Father pursues me.
This was my first time reading this author, but it won’t be the last!
I received a complimentary copy as part of the launch team but was not required to give a positive
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was very suspenseful. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The characters were very believable. I loved the way faith was woven so beautifully into the storyline. There is a great song called “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury that was an inspiration to this story. The song lyrics tell us that because God loves us so much, He chases after us and won’t stop until we are found. This dad was also reckless and relentless in his search for his daughter. He wouldn’t give up just as God won’t give up on any of us. I love that promise.
I would definitely recommend this book. I received an advance copy of this book and I am so glad I did!
I really love this book! It kept me interested and wanting to read more! I would highly recommend this book!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. It is well written and a page turner,! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good Christian Fiction book!! I was so happy to be part of a launch group
This is the first book I have read by this author. I am always excited to try a new author, but I never expect too much. This book, however, was amazing! It drew me in, kept me turning page after page, and felt completely real.
I found this very well written. The characters were well developed and I felt like I really knew them. It got my heart racing quite a few times.
This book could have been taken from the headlines nowadays. It’s unfortunate that this story was completely relevant to our times. The bright spot though was the determined actions of this loving father, to do whatever it took to save his daughter.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense.

The suspense! Your heart palpitates alongside the protagonist, Den Volmer. The anticipation of what ensues next keeps you at the edge of your seat. You can’t put the book down, you have to keep going. And you can’t help but cheer the girls on to not give up!
You feel the entire spectrum of emotions as you navigate this thriller through the lens of the characters including the villains. The author is gifted in meticulously cutting back and forth from multiple narratives while intricately weaving a raw and real plot that probes today’s serious social justice issues of drugs, sex trafficking, and kidnapping.
The author does a great job of integrating the faith journey that many of us can relate to in real life crises and in certain ways through the characters of this book. The feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. The longing of our desperate hearts to be heard and rescued from the divine.
A snapshot of our Heavenly Father’s immense love for His children is prominent in Den Volmer as he relentlessly pursues finding his daughter and her best friend at any cost. Reckless love indeed.
This is one of the only books in a long while that I purposefully plowed through to finish quickly. You, too, will understand why when you begin reading.
I am a big fan of Jeffrey McClain Jones books. I have read everything he has written. Relentless Love is his 17th and newest book and it does not disappoint.
The book was inspired by the song Reckless Love, by Cory Asbury. The inspiration wasn’t just a vague connection. The author literally sat down during the song one Sunday and wrote the initial notes on how to express the promises portrayed in the song in the form of a novel. He hit it perfectly.
Relentless Love is a story about a father who goes to any length to show his unconditional love for his daughter. The book is at times hard to read as the daughter and her friend get kidnapped to be sold in to the sex trade. There were times I did not want to keep reading because the subject matter was too real. It is gripping from the first chapter and includes real life fears and struggles in today’s world. We cannot escape the reality that this story could be any story today in the world, in our country or even in our town.
The question of where God is in all of this comes up repeatedly in the story as time and again it feels hopeless for the father as well as the daughter and her friend. The books shows how pain can point you back to God and can make you stronger as you learn to rely on him. There are times when the characters lose hope and because of fighting the dark side with worship and prayer, warfare and community support they are able to stay strong.
This is a story full of hope that isn’t afraid to tackle the darker side of society. But it continuously brings in the promise of God’s love for His children and how relentlessly He pursues us. “…you can go boldly after Gretchen and Jennica because you know that it’s exactly what God did for you and me.”
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.
