Great little story about following your heart and finding love.
Priestess of Truth by Laura Greenwood is a Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance. This is a bonus short story in the Forgotten Gods Series that can be read as a stand-alone. I absolutely love Laura’s books because they always leave me with a smile on my face. I am really enjoying her twist on Egyptian Mythology. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series Daughter of the Sun.
Priestess of Truth by Laura Greenwood is a short story that is A Forgotten Gods Prequel. In this prequel, two people in service to the Egyptian Gods meet and are destined to be together. This is their story. Be aware is just an introduction to the Forgotten Gods series not a complete book. Even though this is very short read I found it to be a quick fun read that is short, sweet, and entertaining. Priestess of Truth is a sweet short story of fated love.
What a way to find out about your soul mate! By a Tarot card reading! The fact you have already met him is surprising!! Wonderful book!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Priestess of Truth is a quick read and the prequel to the Forgotten Gods series. After reading this prequel I am definitely intrigued and looking forward to reading the rest of the series and finding out more about all of the characters. This is a well written, short story with interesting characters and a great intro to a magical series.
This is a truly short story, not much story and not much about the characters. Most disappointing for me was not only the length, but it ended at 60-65% leaving a lot of promotion for the author at the end. I normally don’t mind it but given the brevity of the book, I found it excessive.

Quick yet highly entertaining adventure filled with magical and interesting charters, witty banter, heart racing twist and emotionally thrilling turns… was a great read!
This is an awesome start to what is going to be a great series. The author does a great job of developing the characters and the storyline. Can’t wait for the next book.

Demi-goddess and Priestess Edrice was not looking for a soulmate when she went to the travelling fair based on the excited tales of the other priestesses of the Egyptian goddess Ma’at, goddess of truth, justice, harmony, and balance. The fun and excitement drew them all in. With this being her first time ever to such a fair, Edrice decides to visit a tarot reader and walks right into the hard chest of a man. They recognized each other from the temple, but didn’t exchange names and just walked on after apologizing.
The reader laid out the cards and, strangely, Edrice felt the truth of them although she didn’t know what they meant. The reader gives her a reading about finding her soulmate, whom she has already met because both of them work at the temple, and he will have been born under the sign of the lion, a Leo. In truth the man serves Maahes, the Egyptian lion-headed god of war, meaning he was probably a lion demi-god. He is a leader, and she is a Libra bringing balance which he needs in his role, offering stability and support. The reader feels Edrice will come to accept him in a place surrounded by water, and their love will be eternal, filled with children and family. As a demi-goddess, Edrice could determine truth or lies – and the reader was telling her the truth!
Sometime later, the goddess Ma’at asks Edrice for a favor, an offering to the Nile for a good year ahead. Other priests were making offerings as well, and Edrice sees Menefer, a high priest of Maahes. This was the man the tarot reader told her about, the amazing man she ran into at the fair! And making offerings to the Nile put them near the water! Can she trust that this is her soulmate? That he is the one for her for eternity?
This was a great prequel to pull the reader in, looking for more, as a prequel is supposed to do! The story line was brief, but it shows the reader there is more depth to come in this series. I look forward to more from this author. She always gives us such wonderful books!
This was a very short read but was a nice introduction to characters and the setting. I will be interested to read the main series.

This is a perfect prequel to this series. It left me wanting more. I only wish there would have been one steamy scene between the characters but I can see how it will just cause you to want to read the stories coming next. Short and sweet and now I will be picking up the rest.

Expected more
Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed with this. I love Egyptian mythology and am definitely interested in this universe of “Forgotten Gods”, where the Egyptian Gods still exist, hidden away from non-believers. For that, I definitely want to read further in this series. But this book itself wasn’t a very good representative of what’s to come.
The biggest problem came in the lack of detail and depth, in the scenes, in the characters. We see a priestess being encouraged to find her soulmate, but the two barely meet, and there is barely any interaction at all. There’s not enough to really gain an interest in the characters, being as the story is so short that it barely covers the minimum of details.
If this was a bit longer, it could have been so much more. We need to see more of the characters in order to truly be able to connect with them. There needs to be more background and history on the characters, too, so we can understand how they got to this point, of being pushed towards each other.
All in all, not a terribly bad short story, but not a great one either.
Final rating: – Sort of liked/OK
A quick short story on Menefer and Edrice. Edrice is a Priestess who didn’t think she would ever find her soulmate. She runs into Menefer, a shiftier and wonders if this is the one for her. With the help of 2 people, Edrice opens up heart to the possibility of finding her “one”.
This is a wonderful introduce to the series. Loved the quick read.
