Stabby. That’s how I was feeling. And when I was asked in the elevator by a friend how I was feeling since it was my first day back after being sick for a week, that’s what I answered.Any other day, this would’ve been no big deal. Of course, then the elevator doors opened and the screaming began. My boss. The asshole who made me feel stabby. He was dead. Killed by a giant pair of silver scissors … of silver scissors sticking out of his chest.
Naturally, I immediately became the prime suspect. Where had I been the night before? The past week? Oh, and all of the month before that?
This was when I realized a few things:
1. My Google calendar was woefully blank.
2. My dog made a terrible alibi.
3. Taking a week off work to bingewatch seven seasons of Game of Thrones before the last season started might have been cathartic, but it was also a terrible idea.
4. I deserved a raise and now my boss was too dead to give me one.
5. That detective was really hot and there’s no way he’d give me a second glance, since I was somehow now on the wrong side of the law.
6. Howie, the mail clerk who would give anything to be my boyfriend, was a lousy consolation prize.
Finally, and probably most importantly:
7. I was currently working with a killer.

I received a free copy of the short steamy romantic suspense Pursuing Aries: Nova Satellite Security Book 2: Sasha, Quinn and Brandon by Linzi Baxter and this review was given freely.
Twisted and complex with a touch of irony, some graphic violence, and a hint of steamy with a happy ending. Retired Navy SEAL now Huston Police Detective Brandon Quinn must partner with his psychotic father Fredrick Langley and his newly discovered brother, New York Mafia member Paolo Manocchio to stop the serial killer the Huston Internet Slayer before she kills Quinn’s partner Tammy while at the same time finding the person who framed NSS rocket designer Sasha Patterson for her supervisor’s murder.

For Sasha Patterson, working for Nova Satellite Security was her dream job. She loved working in the field of aerospace, designing rockets that would carry people into the stars, but when her immediate superior is murdered in his office, her fingerprints are all over the murder weapon.
In the middle of proving her innocence, she finds herself falling for the very attractive Detective Brandon Quinn, whom she’d met several months before. When she becomes the target of a serial killer, she is pulled into a web of secrets that could bring her entire world crashing down around her.
Detective Brandon Quinn knows all about serial killers. After helping to put his own serial killer father, and later a fellow Navy SEAL, behind bars, he used his knowledge to help him as a detective with the Houston Police Department.
When a connection to a rash of serial killings leads him to believe the killer is someone from his past, can he find the link in time to save the last victim?
This is another great book from miss Baxter and I read it in one day. This book is full of romance and mysterie.

Book two in the Nova Satellite Security series, what a story! Sasha Patterson and Brandon Quinn’s story there is suspense, drama, danger, murder, a villain, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book gets its hooks into from the beginning! Several secrets come to light. Part of it delves into the psychology of a serial killer, like Criminal Minds’ BAU. Nature vs nurture? Examples of two of the characters. Brandon has huge baggage from his childhood that bleeds into his work as a police detective trying to solve a heinous crime spree. Sasha is a rocket programmer who becomes involved with him supported by her bosses who know him. Her childhood was no picnic either and history has crossed their paths before. This certainly rated a seat edge. I think there were times where breathing was optional. I just wanted to get to the next page! Nicely written and was packed with adventure, intrigue and a love story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
No surprise here as it’s a Linzi Baxter book, but my oh my was this one exciting read! Never a dull moment anywhere in this book! At the center of course is a love story between Sasha, and profiler Brandon who hunts serial killers of all things. A new killer is on the loose in Houston and he’s stumped as to who it might be. His and Sasha’s worlds collide in a number of unique ways, and it all starts when someone frames her for killing her jerk of a boss. To think that’s a mere blip in this story gives you an idea of the excitement to come. Written with humor, suspense, family and at the heart a truly awesome female with a quirky sense of humor and steel will. I absolutely can’t wait for book three…. Especially after the cliffhanger (and might I add, rather humorous) ending.
I love all of Linzi’s romantic suspense stories and this one is no exception we have met a lot of these characters before in the first book in this series and also in her other romantic suspense books
Sasha Patterson is one of the programmer working on the latest rocket for Nova Satellite and her boss drives her insane he has no idea what he is doping and she is continually having to go over his work in fact he has just called her back from her holidays something she isn’t happy about and let’s everyone know about it. So imagine her horror when her boss is found stabbed to death with a pair of scissors that belong to her and she doesn’t have an alibi luckily she is cleared by security camera in her work place. Brandon Quinn is the detective who is working this murder case as well as a high profile serial killer as the attraction between them grows she learns secrets he has been keeping about who his family really is and they both get to meet a half brother he never knew he had ( a mafia hit man called Paolo Manocchio) as even more secrets are revealed and he learns what he always believed the truth isn’t he will have to rethink his past and that spreads light on who the serial killer is. As those close to him become the latest targets he will have to work hard to protect the woman he is growing to love
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
