An evil lurks in the darkest corners of Victorian London… Amaris Maxwell has lived her entire life with ill health. It isn’t until fate thrusts her into the path of Mr. Jackson Moreland that she begins to question everything she’s ever known. As a mysterious killer begins to terrorize the streets of London, Amaris realizes that things are not always how they may appear…
But how close is the true villain?

He knows something isn’t right and he’s determined to find out what it is.
As things progress between them and secrets are revealed amid their growing attraction, they begin to fear that the true threat may not be the Ripper after all.

This isn’t the first book of read by this author but it is the first one in this genre. When I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. It is a real page turner with a new surprise around every corner.
This reimagined account of Jack The Ripper is full of mystery and suspense.
I gave this book 4.8 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization. It is more of a suspenseful tale than a romantic one but it does have it’s romantic and intimate moments.
Thrilling suspenseful romantic steamy all the while with a bit of history about the famous Jack the Ripper.. And you can tell the author did a great job with her research on Jack the Ripper.. The thing I love the most however is that she put that as the background she took a tragic time and worked a beautiful romance into it.. If I could give this book a 10 star I would.. I definitely hope Tabetha continues writing these types of stories
Brilliant. Tabetha Waite continues to show her amazing prose to produce this masterpiece of suspense and romance. I think most of us, and I definitely am in this category, have been fascinated with Jack the Ripper. There have been so many suppositions as to who he really was that it remains an intriguing mystery that will long grace the readers mind.
From the first page, you are thrown into a horror that Jackson Moreland keeps reliving. He has gone through so much to try to deal with the terrible death of his wife by a murderer. This sets the stage and pulled me in to see what would happen. A previous inspector for Scotland Yard, when another death occurs similar to his late wife, he agrees to help and hopefully ease his mind and prevent other deaths.
He meets Amaris Maxwell, who becomes a solace but also brings a mystery as things as not as they seem. Her father is a doctor and as Jackson begins to see some strange happenings, it seems there is more going on than meets the eye.
Jack the Ripper or is there another murderer on the loose for nefarious reasons? One of the best books I have read this year and I highly recommend!!
4.5 stars. Behind a Moonlit Veil (love that title, btw) was a bit darker and more disturbing than I had expected, even knowing it was about Jack the Ripper and therefore bound to be dark. Still, it made for an engaging read. The final third or so of the book left me with mixed feelings. One of the story elements (trying not to spoil) put a damper on the ending for me. It was just so sad. I have to give Waite props for pushing the boundaries here, though. She’s come up with a unique blend of thriller and historical romance that certainly keeps one turning the pages. I will read more by her, and am interested to see what she creates next. Also, I love the name Amaris!
With a stunning blend of fact and fiction, Tabetha Waite has penned a flawless Victorian historical romance with an overlay of gothic.
The characters came alive for me. I cheered for Amaris, detested the two doctors, and felt stabs of pity for Jackson. The last few chapters had me gasping with surprise and wondering how the book would end.
Jack the Ripper is one of those unsolved mysteries that seem to fascinate people. The fact that Waite managed to weave so much of this case plus all the other historically accurate people/places in among her fictional characters showcases her magnificent writing abilities.
I highly recommend this book.
From the first page I knew this was a five star book. Set in Victorian England, Jackson Moreland, a former Inspector, offers his services to Scotland Yard to help find a killer in East End London. Dealing with the death of his wife almost two years ago in a similar death to the Ripper’s victims, Jackson thinks this will help not only his demons, but prevent another woman from dying. Into his life he meets Amaris Maxwell, his salvation, but something isn’t right in her household. Jackson has to find out what it is, little knowing how much into the dark side it will take him.
A romantic story with a surprise twist and some nail biting drama till the end.
I love the title Behind the Moonli Veil. I starting reading it thinking how diffrent it is than what Im used to. I became so emotionally involved whie reading it, I couldnt put it down. Jackson and Amaris so good for each other. They had what the other needed. I think it was amazing how Tabetha told this dark historical romance. It han family betrayal, murder, fear, love and trust. The research was great. I loved the references to some of the known historical facts of that period
A great twist on the historical romance novel. Jack the Ripper lurks in the streets of Whitechapel.
Behind a Moonlit Veil was brilliant and awe inspiring. Tabetha Waite incandescent imagination will hypnotize your mind, body and soul. Your senses will be teased and tantalized by the twist and turns. In this story you will learn that there is no transcendence without hindrance and the characters portrays this effortlessly. Betrayal and deception lurking who is friend from foe? If you want to find out one click this exceptional masterpiece. Simply Amazing
Can I give it more than 5 stars? Excellent romance and murder mystery. Could not put it down. Story was mesmerizing; it gave me chills. I received an ARC of this fantastic book.
