I loved Lucas, but that’s not a surprise because I love all the heroes that KA Linde writes! the story was engaging, with twists and turns you will not see coming!
I am so glad this book is here! I loved everything about this. Savannah is so relatable, and throughout this story I found myself rooting for HER, even if it means she ends up alone. It’s a fantastic read that does not disappoint.
Ahhh..I just love a great second chance/love triangle romance and this was just perfect. I loved it from beginning to end. Lucas, Easton, and Savannah’s story was everything that I could have wanted and more. Their story has the right amount of angst, drama, romance and hotness that kept me reading into the wee hours of the morning. This is an absolute must read.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!

FINALLY! I’ve been dying for Savannah’s story and this book was so much more than I could’ve imagined. The world isn’t ready for this awesomeness!
“So, six weeks, six months, six years…it didn’t matter how long it had taken to get to this moment. All that mattered was that they were there, and they’d kept their promises.”
Broken Record…. Loved this!
Character line up:
Savannah, Brady’s younger sister. Graduating college and got a journalist job at The Washington Post
Easton, Savannah’s long term boyfriend, introduced to each other by Liz her sister in law.
Lucas, Savi’s best friend since forever, literal friends since birth. Graduating Vandy and going into NBA.
Let’s say this is an epic love story that could go either direction. Who does Savannah choose!?
The heat is awesome, very sweet, at times had an Avoiding series feel (which I LOVED that series, Team Jack all the way).
Highly recommend! I loved this book!
K.A. Linde
This book is EVERYTHING! I was so excited to get more of the Maxwell’s!
The 5th and final book in The Record series has left me both thrilled, over-the-moon excited, and a bit heartbroken it’s all over. But what an adventure this series has been. With each new book comes more Maxwell’s, and we all need more of the Maxwell’s in our lives! This book did not disappoint and far exceeded all my expectations.
In Broken Record the final story we get is that of Savannah Maxwell. On her way to her dream job in DC, moving in with her boyfriend and finally at peace with everything. Well almost everything. Easton and Savi have a great relationship only its lacking something she always longed for with Lucas. Her best friend since birth. The one she has slipped with time and time again, only to have her heart broken. The passion and desire that ignites between them during every interaction they have had for the past 4 years continues to build until something must give. The family friend and long-time best friend has always been more in Savi’s heart but being able to act on anything would only take her down the same path she’s been on time and time again with Lucas. But why is that all she seems to truly want. Her fight for what she should want, and what she does truly desire is quite an adventure! In this love-triangle, anything goes! It was packed with angst, emotion and a simple nostalgia from their pasts as their futures begin to play out. I was absolutely captivated by this one, and love how I get glimpses into the rest of the Maxwell clan throughout these books.
At last, K A Linde lets us spend quality time with Lucas Atwood. I’ve loved him from afar (and a little closer, thanks to Linde sharing chapters of this book through her newsletter), and after getting to know him, I find myself wanting more.
You’ve met Savannah in her brothers’ books, and now she gets one of her own. You’ve seen the push and pull between her and Lucas, and you’ve been curious, haven’t you. Even though she’s with Easton in the beginning of this story, you know she will find her way to Lucas.
Broken Record is a quick, breezy read with just enough hotness to make you want to scream for more. There are a couple plot lines that sort of trail off (one character rather conveniently disappears entirely), and you never get the depth from Lucas that you want, but it’s fun. Yes, there is the requisite fangirling of the heroine you expect from a Linde book, and maybe you wish some of it could be from Lucas’s perspective (Linde uses a limited third person POV). Still, though, you do have Lucas, and you do have some pretty fabulous hot headboard rocking.
I like Lucas. I like Savannah. And this book is a ton of fun to read. If you’re new to the Maxwells, I suggest you begin with Brady and Liz’s story in Off the Record. Make sure you read Clay’s, too.
3.5 stars – but I felt I was at a disadvantage for not having read the others in the series.
So I didn’t really connect with this book and I felt that something was missing. There was a history between Lucas and Savannah that took too long to unveil. Was it explained in the previous books, maybe?!? So I felt at a disadvantage.
Savannah was too wishy washy for me. Does she love Easton, does she love Lucas, can she make up her mind?
Lucas, on the other hand, was too much of a tool to really go for what he wanted.
I didn’t really like any of the characters, but this seems to be a loved series, so it is likely that I should have started at Book 1.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
So I’ve read a couple of the books in this series but not all of them. It doesn’t matter what books you have and haven’t read, you’ll enjoy Broken Record and getting to know Savannah a bit more. This was a tough one for me. I’m not huge into triangle love stories and I generally end up feeling a bit sour on someone in the trio. I found that I liked all three of them. They seemed like they all wanted happiness for Savannah, who was the point person in this trio. I liked Easton, and I was kind of hoping someone would come in and swoop him up so he didn’t get hurt. However, the love and pull between Lucas and Savannah was unstoppable. They’ve been best friends for as long as they remember. They’re parents have been friends and have spent a lot of time together. It just makes sense for at least one of them to like the other.
I was a bit surprised that Broken Record wasn’t packed full of KA Linde’s spine-tingling sexy scenes. I actually appreciate that way more than I can say when it comes to a love triangle. Broken Record is full of the heart KA Linde always puts in her stories. The writing it fantastic! Really, she made me want certain things to happen as nicely as possible for people. I loved them all and I feel like that’s a difficulty in itself!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
I anticipated Broken Record as a full book. K.A. Linde was amazing to give her readers first access through her newsletter, but it was amazing to read at my own pace and revisiting Savannah and Lucas.
Talk about the heat factor for these two. The angst, drama, and lust was all there! I was excited to see that the story still had its “IT FACTOR” even though I followed along in the newsletter. I was torn of what would happen next. I wanted Lucas to be the one for Savannah. We knew she had moved on and was in a good place in her life. But the need for adventure and hot chemistry could be felt through the pages! I loved this story the author brings her fans who can’t help but fall in love with her characters <3
~Crystal's Book World Blog Review~
Holy angst and frustration! Talk about missed chances/opportunities and miscommunication.
Lucas and Savannah grew up together. Their families work together and have been friends since before they were born. It seemed every time one of them was ready to be with the other, the other wasn’t available.
But now, Savannah is engaged… Will Lucas fight for Savi one last time? Will Savannah go with her heart?
Definitely one-click this page turning story.
This was a classic second chance romance.. oh well Lucas and Savannah had known each other since childhood. What can you do when you have felt it from so long ago? This was a story of loss souls who is seeking their way back.. It was emotional and chaotic quite unsure what to do?
I read and finished it in one sitting… it was good for a delicious angst romance
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
Have you ever had a relationship with the opposite sex that you decided you wanted more from but it never matched up? You were dating someone then they were etc. Y’all start to sound like a broken record. Can’t get your acts together.
Until that one time…so this is where it gets tricky right? Well Broken Record by K.A. Linde is all over this scenario. These characters are great. Savannah and Lucas we’ve seen briefly before but now it’s their turn in the spotlight.
You know – one thing I’ve noticed about K.A. Linde books is she loves a triangle. Or at least the poor woman has to really listen to her heart to know which man is right for her. Savannah has her work cut out for her here and I know you’ll have your favorite gent. I certainly did.
Broken Record is a great book. I enjoyed reading it and hope that you will too!
Omg !!!! I was so excited to get Savannah’s story and it did not disappoint, it was everything I have come to expect from the author who is fast becoming the queen of romance and angst……
Broken Record not only gives us Savannah and Lucas’s story it also gives us a chance to catch up with Brady and the rest of the Maxwell clan. This really is second change romance at its best !!!!!
Savannah has been in the political spotlight all her life and she is well aware of what is expected of her in fact she has her life pretty much how she wants it, she has her dream job and has just moved in with Easton her boyfriend of 3 years but when her best friend from childhood turns up at her graduation feelings from the past rise very quickly to the surface…
Lucas has done his best to let Savannah live her life, he has stayed away for as long as possible but what best friend would let their partner in crime from childhood graduate without wishing them the best. Little did he know that by turning up at that party his life and Savannah’s was going to change forever…..
This book ticked all my boxes, it certainly gives you all the feels from the characters with sizzling chemistry to the meddling parents this book will make you smile will make you swoon as well as giving you a few gasps along the way. It’s a quick read that’s full of romance, love, angst and just the right amount of humour and it was a book I found hard to put down.
This book was a gift to her readers. We have been reading it piece by piece in her newsletter. I was great at the beginning, reading each chapter as she released them, but as time went on, I lost track, and I almost didn’t want to know the ending. I am thinking this is the last of the Maxwells for KA Linde, and I honestly didn’t want it to end. But I buckled down, and dove in, and KA Linde has shown herself once again as the Queen of Angst.
From the moment we met Savannah in Off the Record (almost 6 years ago), I knew I would want to know her story. She is as fascinating as her brothers! Savi is one strong woman who wants to make a name for herself, other than being the daughter and sister of a US Senator. She has worked hard to land herself a job at the Washington Post. She’s determined to have it all. There is just one problem…his name is Lucas Atwood.
Through the series, we have seen bits and pieces of Savi’s story. From her numerous tête-à-têtes with Lucas to her budding romance with Easton, we have seen a peek into her life. This book is all about Savi and her pull towards Lucas but also her safe relationship with Easton.
This book brought me back to the KA Linde, I fell in love with during the Avoiding Series in 2012.
Jack and Lexi…oh the angst…oh the anger while I was reading – it all came back to me while reading Broken Record, and I loved every angsty, frustrating second. KA Linde was meant to write angst, meant to get my blood flowing and erratic heartbeat going while reading. This book is everything we want in a love triangle – perfection!

This is my first book by this author, the fifth in the Record series that can be read as a standalone. The series features the Maxwell siblings and this is Savannah’s story.
Although I haven’t read the previous books, I felt that Savannah and Lucas’ story can be read on its own without creating any confusion regarding the main characters. Savannah comes from a well-known family, her father and her brother, both prominent politicians. She just started as a newbie reporter at the Washington Post and moved in with boyfriend Easton.
The Atwood family has a long history with the Maxwell clan and Lucas and Savannah grew up together. His feelings for Savi grew stronger as they got older but there was a chance for them to get together until it was too late. His best friend is now with someone else and his shot at pro basketball will drive them further apart.
There is no denying Lucas’ love for Savi and she was aware of his feelings, but she valued their friendship too much and didn’t want to risk it even though they’d hooked up once. What irked me was Savi being so indecisive about her feelings for Lucas. The secondary characters, Savi’s brothers: Brady and Clay are an integral part in Savannah’s relationship with Lucas. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Easton has a chip on his shoulder regarding her “friendship” with Lucas and I don’t blame him at all. I just felt sorry for the guy. Both the Maxwell and Atwood families seem to be the picture-perfect dynasties but I suspect that there are simmering issues behind the scenes. I guess I have to read the other books to find out if I am right.
This book is written in dual points of view and I really like the author’s writing style: fast-paced with excellent character development, especially Savi having her epiphany in the last quarter of the book. The relationship between the main characters gave me a whiplash during their younger years (the author gave the reader some snippets of their back story), but the latter half of the book made them deal with their trust issues and honesty. Their relationship isn’t perfect and they know they have to make it work, a healthy attitude for any couple; Lucas and Savi’s story made me want to read the rest of the books in the series. All in all, this best-friends-to-frenemies-to-lovers contemporary romance will warm your heart in the cold winter days.
It’s finally here!! I was so excited for Savannah’s story and it did not disappoint! I am super picky about what angsty books I read, but KA is a go-to for me! The entire Record series is an all-time fave, but I think Savannah’s is my ultimate favorite now! And the epilogue is pure perfection! FIVE HUGE STARS!!
I had the pleasure of reading this a chapter or two at a time in Kyla’s newsletter, and loved it, so to sit down and re read the whole thing made me love these two even more! 5 Broken Records for this one! Grab it asap!
This story follows the youngest Maxwell, Savannah, who’s finished college and landed her dream job, she’s got her dream boyfriend in Easton, and as always the tension in her friendship with Lucas, who wants more with her. After all they’ve been close friends since birth! The attraction is there but their timing has always been off.
Follow their story as Savi & Lucas face some hard facts, it’s not an easy road. I loved this one, don’t miss it! Grab it asap!
3.75 stars–BROKEN RECORD is the fifth instalment in KA Linde’s contemporary, adult RECORD erotic, romance series. This is basketball star Lucas Atwood, and journalism graduate Savannah Maxwell’s story line. BROKEN RECORD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Savannah is Brady Maxwell’s sister (Record #1-3).
Told from dual third person perspectives (Savannah and Lucas) BROKEN RECORD follows the life-long friends to frenemies to lovers relationship between basketball star Lucas Atwood, and journalism graduate Savannah Maxwell. Savannah and Lucas have been best friends for most of their lives but four years earlier Lucas professed his love for his best friend but Savannah feared losing said best friend if things didn’t work out. Going to different colleges meant meeting new people, wherein Savannah will find herself falling in love with someone else. But graduation season meant coming face to face with one another only to discover their back and forth, tempestuous relationship hid a profound love neither one was willing to admit. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Savannah and Lucas, and the potential fall-out as jealous, anger and their mutual history of pushing away one another may be a wall too tall to overcome.
Savannah Maxwell thought she had found love but seeing Lucas Atwood brought back too many memories of what was and what may never be. Lucas has never stopped loving Savannah Maxwell, the young woman raised to be a politician’s wife, but a woman whom Lucas wanted more than anyone else.
The relationship between Savannah and Lucas is a friends to lovers, a second chance of sorts between two stubborn and petulant people unable to let go of the past. Savannah struggles between head and heart, and Lucas battles his desire for a woman who is currently with someone else. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to Savannah’s brothers Clay and Andrea (Struck from the Record #4), Brady and his wife Liz (Record #1-3), Dylan Gonzalez, her new co-worker at The Washington Post; Savannah’s soon to be ex-boyfriend Easton, and her parents Senator Jeff and Marilyn Maxwell; and Lucas’s brother Chris.
BROKEN RECORD is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is fast paced and engaging; the characters are colorful, energetic and lost; the romance is seductive. BROKEN RECORD is an emotional and captivating addition to KA Linde’s RECORD series.
