DexEverything worth having takes time. In my case, it was taking forever. I met Emma outside her soon-to-be café covered in paint. The minute I saw her, I knew I had to have her. She was all that was good in the world. Always helping others, bright personality, beautiful even if she couldn’t see it herself. She gave me a chance, and I took it for granted. I never intended to stay in town for … town for long, and by the time I realized what was important to me, she wanted nothing to do with me. Now I won’t stop until I convince her we are worth fighting for.
Emma
The first time I met Dex, I thought he was hitting on me in front of his girlfriend; turns out I was wrong. I wanted to hate him a little, but I couldn’t. He was sweet, attentive, handsome, and he made me smile. Except, I had a business to run, and I didn’t have time for a man in my life, especially when this was just a pit stop for him. He left town and life went on. Now my business is in trouble, and Dex is back asking for another chance, convinced he could make it all better. Can I trust him not to leave again?
Although, The Way Back Home can be read as a stand-alone reading is enhanced when reading the series in order.

I loved this book so much that I’m going back to reread tonight.
Such an amazing follow up to INHWY. I loved how it started before the first novel then interwove with book 1, but was its own complete story.
What can I say about Dex, words Can not describe this man who made me a “ hot mess”
I loved how he was just so cocky and full of himself, but yet was so focused on what he wanted in regards to his career only to realise it wasn’t what he really wanted so focused on what he did “Emma”.
That Coffee Shop, the place I find myself wanting to be, meeting Emma and her Eclectic band of Co-workers and the patrons and characters that come through Emma’s doors, of her “ Dream” The Coffee Shop.
Emma, the quiet achiever who matches her type of coffee to the people that come in to buy her brew, the biggest risk she has taken and put everything into, until him “ Dex” .
The young man who let her down previously is back and Emma’s not willing to be the talk of the town again when it comes to her “ love life”
C Lymari has put this little town and it’s inhabitants on the map, if it was in fact “ real”
I loved Emma and Dex’s Story, I couldn’t put it down and found myself looking at the % of where I was whilst reading on my kindle.
I love how we get to know the other characters and we know that they too are going to have their own stories and I was reminded of that Queen song
I want it all, I want it now…
Claudia I need book 3 and 4 and 5
Oh and by the way “ that fcuking sex scene in the coffee shopI loved Prescott’s little 5cents worth on it also, “ investing in some blinds for the front windows”
I need to find my way home to this town
Especially if Prestcott is there in a hot suit wearing Wayfarer Shades
Thank you Claudia (
This is the 2nd book in this series, and what an amazing story this is! Emma is feisty, bossy and a spitfire, and Dex is a sweet cop, who is determined to get his girl, and Emma is the only one in town who does not realise this. This is a well written story which is sweet, humorous, entertaining, with witty banter and miscommunication, love and passion. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and highly recommend for all.
Home field advantage! There is no place like home! Remember this. This is book 1.5 in the HOCO series and a story many of us were waiting for! We wanted to know Emma’s and Dex’s story and learn more about the coffee shop and those quotes so thank you Claudia for writing this novella. If you love small towns, like Sunny Pines you will love it even more with a Coffee shop. Dex and Emma were full of tension from the moment they met, chemistry was hot, they were sweet and the laughter these characters and the secondary characters gave you made for one good cup of coffee. Dex never thought he’d want to come back to this small town, he was meant for bigger and brighter cities. Emma may be a small piece to change his mind, but it takes leaving to see that the grass may not be as green on the other side as you thought. He has a lot of quotes to write in the coffee shop to get Emma to forgive him for leaving. HaHa You will see that you can make a difference in a small town and be happy when it is your time to shine. This book can be read as a standalone if you choose, we got this story after the release of book one so you can choose the way you wish to pick up this story, just make sure you have a coffee on hand as Emma makes it perfect based upon a person’s mood and fits to a T. I love reading this series and this novella gave us the lighter side of things as you will see in the other books that deal with heavier things that want you to travel to Sunny Pines and shake some sense into those characters and their actions.
Welcome back to Sunny Pines, and to Emma’s Coffee! I LOVED Dex and Emma’s story. Ever since I read It’s Not Home Without You I’ve been dying to know what went down between the two of them, and I was so excited to read this. Dex is swoony and funny, I want Emma to be my BFF, and I just loved them together. Their story was full of humour, tension, heat, and sweetness – all the ingredients to make a coffee of pure happiness (did you see what I did there with the coffee reference?!).
If I could add a quote, that could be written on the board in the coffee shop, that reminds me of this story, it would be this:
“If you’re never scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take any chances.” – Julia Sorel
This is a great read with well developed and engaging characters and a storyline that flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

I love Dex and Emma’s story. Every time Dex called Emma sunshine, I blushed, like he was calling me sunshine.
Dex chasing Emma was entertaining and at times faustrating because he does typical guy stuff
Overall these two will win you over. Their journey is sweet and exciting. The back and forth between them kept me smiling especially the scenes when Dex came into the coffee shop and poor Emma, her shyness was too cute.
Emma’s getting ready to open her coffee shop when she meets Dex. He stands her up and leaves town, but comes back a couple of years later. All he’s thought about is her, and he wants her forever. It takes a while for her to stop being mad at him, and to begin to let him in. I just love this book!! Emma and Dex’s story is intertwined with Freya and Max’s story from It’s Not Home Without You. This book takes place at the same time as the first book. There were no inconsistencies between the two stories, and I loved them both. I can’t wait for the next book!!

This was my fist time reading this author and it was a great read. This is a small town romance story with the plot, word and character building pulling me into the story and kept my interest form beginning to end. I really loved Dex and Emma they are such awesome characters and the story is an enjoyable cute romance that you won’t want to miss! I can’t wait to read more form this author!!!

This is the first book I read by this author and I feel like this could have been better. The story itself is promising and the characters sound like people I would love to have in my corner too. It’s a small town which I love and everyone has their own quirks and you have the bad seed of the bunch too. But the way the story flowed was confusing and the timeline mentioned was different at times. New characters were thrown in at points and the explanations of who they were was short and confusing. I love Dex and Emma but I feel like their story could have been told better. The story flowed in a way where you needed to have read the previous books (I am assuming there are previous books) because of the mentioning of some characters. I love the chemistry between Dex and Emma and was excited to see their story unfold however. I just wish it wasn’t so confusing following their story.

This is a sweet love story between Emma and Dex. The author brings a small town romance with strong , well developed characters and fills it with enough drama to keep things interesting , bringing it to life with her vividly painted scenes. It’s well written , moves quickly and smoothly and had me hooked throughout. I’m looking forward to the next book.
