NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In Danielle Steel’s riveting novel, three women raised by their father on a sprawling California ranch now confront difficult truths about their past. Decades ago, after the death of his wife, Texas ranch hand JT Tucker took his three small daughters to California to start a new life. With almost no money, a will of iron, and hard work, he eventually built the … eventually built the biggest ranch in California. But when he dies suddenly at the age of sixty-four, the ranch is inherited by his three daughters—each of them finding it impossible to believe that this larger-than-life figure is gone from their lives.
JT’s relationship with each daughter was entirely different. Caroline, the youngest and most reserved, was overlooked by her father for her entire life and fled to become a wife, mother, and writer in Marin County. Gemma, his declared favorite, sought out Hollywood glamour and success and became a major television star. Kate, the eldest, stayed at home with her father to do his bidding as a ranch hand, without thanks or praise, forsaking marriage and a family of her own for the love of him.
Now, upon JT’s death, the paper trail he leaves behind begins to reveal much more than the three sisters ever guessed about who he really was. It will turn their world upside down, and each of them must grapple with a new reality, strengthening their relationships with one another, and discovering who they are now as grown women, in spite of him.
Set against the magnificent backdrop of the West and the drama of a family in turmoil, Daddy’s Girls is the story of three remarkable women and their unique bond to each other—the daughters of a complex, many-faceted, domineering father who left his mark on each of them.

Daddy’s Girls is a light contemporary novel featuring three dissimilar sisters. Each of them had a different relationship with their father who was large and in charge. Their father moved them from Texas when they were all under four to California. JT, their father, eventually came to own 10,000 acres in Santa Ynez Valley, California. Kate loves the ranch and has ideas to improve it, but her father is the one in control. Gemma left at eighteen for Hollywood where she is now the lead actress on a television series. Gemma has a temperament just like JT and has no qualms about sharing her views with him. Caroline loved to read from a young age. She felt that her father did not understand her and ignored her. Caroline could not wait to escape the ranch and find culture in the city. She is happily married with two children of her own and writes young adult novels. They rarely visit despite having their own home on the ranch. With JT’s death, the three sisters must go through their father’s papers and belongings. Papers in the safe send them on a journey. I thought the story contained Danielle Steel’s trademark writing, but I did feel that the story was expected. It is easy to figure out how each sisters story will play out. There was quite a bit of repetition of details. Daddy’s Girls has a lovely feel good ending. I was, though, disappointed with how Caroline’s story turned out. It seemed like a step back for Caroline. Daddy’s Girls is a feel-good novel that was a good break for me from other types of books that I read. Daddy’s Girls is a lovely respite from reality and a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
Daddy’s Girls by Danielle Steel gives us the story of three sisters after the death of their father. Each had their own unique relationship with their father, but what will it mean when they discover new truths? How will their relationships change? Eve as each was going through their own issues individually, we also see as they navigated the death and grief of their father. A story about family, loss, grief and so much more.
Happy reading!
3 sisters almost starting over.
Sisters Kate, Caroline, and Gemma have not been close since they were young. The death of their father brings them back together again and stronger than ever.
Also, at that same time, their lives take a major hit. A major bump on the road that turns their lives upside down and forces hard decisions that are practically like starting over.
I liked this book generally. I was really happy to see the bond of the sister’s relationship come back together but the decisions made to solve their individual life issues were sort of disappointing to me…but it’s not my life… I felt only partially satisfied with the sisters’ outcomes.
The writing itself seemed a bit off for me. It didn’t feel like a Danielle Steel book. The writing was kind of clunky and repetitive. The ‘voice’ to it just felt different.
Overall, it was a fine read.
Review
Liked this book …did t give 5 stars because I love all her books but wouldn’t put as my favorite
Based on last several books, if you’ve read one Danielle Steel, you’ve read them all.
Danielle Steel has written another awesome read! The novel, Daddy’s Girls is about three sisters growing up on a California ranch, which delves into Kate, a daughter’s ranch life, Gemma, a television serial star’s life, and Caroline, an author’s married life, as each daughter follows their own different paths! After their father dies, the three sisters are left to decide what to do with his possessions and estate. What they find out about their father pulls on each sister’s heartstrings. How they cope with the news brings about a very entertaining, emotional saga that I thoroughly enjoyed reading!
So glad my library loves carrying Danielle Steel’s ebooks that I can borrow and read! This is my honest opinion!
It wasn’t one of her best..readable but predictable
Great book 6 stars.
Loved it
Anything that she writes, I read. This book was no disappointment. Her characters jump off the page and practically write the books themselves. The descriptions that she uses make me feel like I’m in the book with the people.
I can easily give a big GO to anyone that is considering reading this.
Although I am an avid reader of Danielle Steele’s books, this one had a some nice twists. Even when you could almost feel what might be coming next, it was written in such a way that you still wanted to continue reading until the very end. And as usual, you finished with a warm and fuzzy feeling, something that you can really appreciate in today’s world of turmoil. It was a great ‘getaway’ from reality.
A captivating tale of sisterhood filled with emotional turmoil, gut wrenching realities and that happily ever after punch that can only be delivered in a beloved novel by the queen of romance herself! DADDY’S GIRLS delivers the raw emotion that we can always count on in a Danielle Steel novel with several jaunts into happily ever after. I was spellbound from page one and happily refused to put it down.
Jimmy “JT” Tucker was the epitome of a self-made man and took pride in the California ranch that he built from the ground up over the years. He was a hard man, but approachable to certain people in his life. Upon his sudden death, his three daughters are left to pick up the pieces and come to grips with their unresolved feelings about the relationship they each shared with their father and how to deal with the secrets they stumble across that could change their lives forever.
Kate came across as easily likable. She worked at her father’s side her entire life basking in nature and her love of the land. She knew her father best because she was there day in and day out but their relationship was far from close knit.
Gemma shows her spoiled side from the get go and makes you think you can’t possibly relate to her and her divaness … but she quickly grows and becomes more personable. She was her father’s favorite … and he never was shy about screaming that from the rooftops.
Caroline came across as cold, but as her story unfolds, we understand her more. She was the youngest and the forgotten. She was quick to leave the ranch and set out in her own life as a wife, mother and writer and never really looked back.
Three sisters reconnect and prosper as life moves forward after turmoil. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of a family centric saga with heartache and romance woven in brilliantly.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Danielle Steel writes the most entertaining books that take you to places you may never have visited and wonderful companions to “travel” with. Most of her books are about families and the many issues that can arise within the family structure and by the end of the book she has righted the injustices, tragedies, losses, etc. I definitely recommend this book. Enjoy!
Death is The Catalyst For Huge Changes
This is a wonderful women’s fiction novel that is going to haunt me for a while. This author always writes fantastic stories and this is one of her best. At the center of the story is a huge California ranch, its founder and his three adult daughters. Upon his death, all of the women see huge changes come to their lives, filling in the hole that his loss has left. It is a powerful story that I really got into. The tale is all about the people. While the ranch is integral to the story, there is little about the livestock and much about the land. This is a very good story that I want to read again in a few months after I digest what I have just read. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
Love this cover! I haven’t read a book by this author in years. I use to read them as quick as they came out too
It was like revisiting an old friend, this book was just as good as her previous ones. It was a fast book, I enjoyed the characters and the story. Her fans will enjoy it. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy
Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group and the Author Danielle Steele

Another great human nature story from Danielle that was heartwarming and poignant but all worked out in the end.
I always love her use of the Women protagonist(s) who are strong or find their strength within the story.
This was a really enjoyable read.
