After witnessing the brutal beating of her father at Irish Mob boss Antaine Sorley’s hand, Onóra Russo is on the run. Together with her little brother Finn she has fled the safety of her Chicago home for places unknown. Her instincts say keep running, but loyalty says to do as Daddy instructed. Make the call to the one man who can help her. What happens when the one who answers isn’t who she … she expects?
Can Onóra trust this Irishman who claims neutrality? With the Irish and Italian’s looking for them does she have a choice?
Rónán knew, knew before he traced the call it was going to be trouble. Then he heard her Siren’s call and couldn’t refuse. It may put his life on the line, but he’ll help her, whatever the cost. Even if that cost is his heart.

What a great book this was.
Onora is a daughter of both the Irish and Italian mafia. Her father helps her escape with her brother Finn and she is ordered to go to Rory, he will help her further. But Rory has passed away. His adopted son takes the dept from his father and helps the 2 along. A new identity, a new life. But there is always the fear of being discovered because both families keep looking for them. The Italians want her to marry a son and keep her knowledge in the family. The Irish side wants her to be the new leader, their queen. Onora wants to live her life, far from the mafia, with Finn and Ronan. They come up with a plan with the information they have to break free from that life.
An exciting book, a romantic book, a realistic book, The interaction between Ronan and Onora is very funny at times. Both must learn to trust the other. Onora’s temperament is appropriate for an 18-year-old girl who has to leave everything behind in a short time. The uncertainty of everything and the knowledge that she is responsible for her 9-year-old brother. Funny as described what Finn’s reaction is every time he catches Ronan and Orona making out.

First book I have read by Haney and Hayes. I give it 3.5 stars. The story was hard to follow at times. I enjoyed the story line though. I didn’t feel the strong connection between Onora and Ronan but there was a small one.
Super Great Book…

I flew through this book, it was so easy to read, it has a great ebb and flow. The characters were wonderfully written that I would have believed they were to be walking around the streets of Kentucky or even Italy. Every word in this story had me captivated. I struggled to put it down, as I wanted to know what was going to happen with The Families on both the Italian and Irish sides. This wasn’t as in depth as I thought it would be with the Mafia, but it goes in just a bit with Onòra and Finn’s family.
Escaping The Families seems to have been pretty easy throughout this story, I was expecting a bit more suspense. That didn’t take away from the story, I was just waiting for something else to happen. There were times that I was pulling for the changes to come and others I was glad that the story went where it did.
This book was very well written, I got to escape with them on their journey and I was happy to do so. I have not read a book by either of these authors, and this was a great start. If your looking for a snarky leading lady and a man that can’t get enough, this is the right book for you.
The storyline was well written and the characters were created with such great detail and depth that I was totally captivated throughout the entire book!
a very good book I love anything dealing with Ireland and this one was it for me,A really great read! Onóra Russo and her brother Finn are on the run after witnessing the traumatizing beating of their father. She calls Ronan, the one person her father has asked her to call for help. This is a well written mafia romance with strong characters in Onora and her brother Finn who are on the run when their father is attacked. She contacts Ronan for help to keep them safe and start a new life. It’s an intriguing and entertaining story that kept me glued to the pages right to the end with all the twists and turns as well as the steamy and passionate romance. I loved and would recommend this book.

I am challenged in writing this review. There were parts of this story that I really enjoyed, but other parts, not so much. Onóra and her brother Finn see their father brutally beaten and go on the run. She was told to call Rónán to help them. He appears to be a tough guy, but is a good one and is determined to keep them safe. This is where the story gets a little odd for me. It often reads like a YA book, disguised as a steamy romance. Onóra, although she has helped raise her brother and you would think that takes maturity, often doesn’t behave that way. She’s a bit of a bit*h towards Rónán and acts really childish. The story twists and turns and is well paced. I just didn’t care much for her. But the good news is you can read this book for free with your KU subscription.

I love mafia stories and this was a fun, shorter story. I have read a couple books by this author pair and I like that they always have a unique story to tell. This story sucked me in from the very beginning, had a great plot that keep me engaged until the end, and had amazing characters. I loved the chemistry between the characters and found them to be likable.
I would recommend this one for anyone looking for a quick mafia romance read

Okay, I knew this one would be different and it is. The only problem is that it left me with mixed feelings about it. Because some parts made me roll my eyes (especially her immaturity at times) and some parts I did like. So I’m left with mixed feelings, like I said.
Onóra is an interesting character who has been raised in such an unusual manner that she almost didn’t really have a real childhood. Something that she will do everything she can to ensure that her little brother Finn does have. She has been Finn’s protector practically from his birth and has also been the one who has raised him. She knows what’s one the line for them and doesn’t want anything to do with either the Italian or Irish power families. It’s kind of hard to escape though because both Onóra and Finn are considered royalty on both sides.
Rónán is a good guy although he’s more comfortable with people NOT really knowing that fact. He really goes way out of his way for the two runaways. I know Onóra is young and terrified, and not sure who to trust . But boy, she sure treats him like crap a lot of times. He proved himself so many times and then she would let her wild temper short circuit her common sense. It made me want to shake her a time or two.
At times I thought maybe this story was for a younger crowd than me. But then, this story will have adult language, some swearing and also some sex scene. So it would probably be better for the 18+ group.
Things do start to heat up story-wise when the main characters have all their ducks in a row and get ready for the confrontations that need to happen. It’s time to draw a line in the sand. It brings everything together with some surprising results.
A solid Epilogue puts the finishing touches on the story. I ended up giving it 3.5 Stars on Amazon.

An unlikely match with lots of action, heat and a hea. After witnessing the brutal beating of her father, she takes her brother and goes into hiding. She calls the one person her father asked her to, Ronan, althought he thinks things may turn into more trouble, just because he likes the way she looks. HEA.
First time reader & was not disappointed at all. Saw this book and could not wait to read it. Onara & Finn are told by their father to leave as he is feared of the mafia coming to possibly hurt them. The brother & sister go on the run. Staying in shady hotels until she contacts the one person her father told her too. The mans name is Rory but Rory is no longer with us, so she is in touch with Ronan. Ronan is going to help her cause she is child caring for a younger child. Ronan was taken care of by Rory and feels he should step up and help them but along the way feelings start to show. A lot of stuff happens between the Italian Mafia & the Irish Mafia. Ronan helps out both Onara who has now changed her identity to Noel & Finn to Nolan her son so now one can find & hurt them. Once everything is cleared up, the pair now gets married & live HEA..
