Whoever said the course of true love never runs smooth knew their business.Especially motherly love.Still, with adoption success just waiting for ink and paper to appear, Norah can focus on more exciting things like Christmas and figuring out how this marriage thing is going to work out! However, never underestimate the craftiness of an antagonistic old woman determined to get her way—or rather, … to get her way—or rather, stop Norah from getting hers. If it means resorting to underhanded means to ensure she comes out on top, then so be it. All it takes is a word in the right ear, a nudge here, a wink there, and the natural course of gossip and slander will do the rest.
When the dust clears, Norah’s heart is in tatters and her fledgling relationship is in ruins… Or is it? Will her hero’s patience wear thin, and is Norah’s faith strong enough to see her through whatever comes her way?

I started reading this book and got very confused fast. So many names of people and places to learn. It’s like the book started in the middle. After researching I discovered that this was book two! No where on the cover or inside was that indicated. By the time I got to a little over the middle, things were making somewhat more sense.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters, well maybe except for Octavia. She was a bitter old woman that was mean and self serving. She had no use or kind words for Norah, and even went to the trouble of rushing an adoption through to a couple that seemingly wasn’t much engaged with the three kids, just to keep Norah from adopting them. The book seemed to be mostly about the children’s home and the adoption of Clayton, Riley and Elsie. I didn’t understand why the home was called the Pen, must have been elaborated on in the first book. There were a couple of emergencies that livened up the story a bit. And romance and hints of romance. Overall it was enjoyable but if you decide to read it I’d advise reading book one first, Dreaming of More.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.
Yours, Mine, and Forever is the second installment from Taking Chances series by
Joanne Markey. It is the first book I have read by this author. After reading this one, I realized it probably would have been best that I had read the first book of the series, Dreaming of More.
I thought that Yours, Mine, and Forever was a pretty good read. It was full of believable characters that many readers would be able to relate to. I love the adoption story line of the book. There are a few scenes that brought tears to my eyes and others that just warmed my heart. I loved there was an element of faith throughout, as well.
I am giving Yours, Mine, and Forever four stars. I hope to read more by this author in the near future. I recommend this to readers who enjoy a good, sweet, clean, heartwarming and inspiring reads.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
My Thoughts on Yours, Mine, and Forever:
I loved this book so so much! We have adopted and it’s something dear to my heart so I love books that bring it to light as such a good thing to do. Of course, I also did a lot of giggling at the adoptive couple that pops up in the book and her obsession with over social media documenting everything. What a hoot!
This is the second book in a series and I binge read them both! So so good and I can’t recommend them enough. Definitely read this series as written or you’re going to miss out on half the fun! Yours, Mine, and Forever is going to captivate you!
I felt like Norah was my long lost best friend and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next for her. Clay is so lovable and I enjoyed his character as well. Seeing Clay and Norah interact was fun.
Gaines totally stole my heart though. Such a fun character! I’d love to see a follow-up book on Gaines and what his life moved on to after this one ends.
Norah’s fondest dream is to adopt a set of three siblings. But the adoption board won’t approve her because she’s single. At least, that’s the excuse they keep giving her. Yet the head of the board is willing to split up the three to allow a SINGLE man to adopt one of the boys! Hilarity ensues when other members of the board decide he needs the same treatment as Norah.
When Norah and Clay meet sparks fly and fun ensues. I adored the children as well and really enjoyed how Clayton finally comes out of his shell.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
A sweet series
My rating is 4.5 stars
This was a fun series from a new-to-me author.
I really liked the way the author spent plenty of time on each scene, developing it well and letting it come to its natural conclusion. There was plenty of time for real-life to take place.
Norah was caught completely off guard by the accusations she heard against Clay. Based on the source of the information and what she saw, she struggled with what to believe. And when it looked like her dream of adoption was going to die…
I liked the characters so much! Norah for her innocence and love for the children. And her fear of getting close to others as well. Clay was a rock and so focused on the Lord and trusting Him. He helped Norah see how to trust even if it appeared that the desires of her heart would not be granted to her.
Norah’s brother Gaines is so great! His deep love and strong protective nature towards Norah was so very sweet. I loved watching him interact with her and with the people of the town.
Some great moments that added to the heartwarming feeling of the story. The huge snowball fight involving most of the town was such a pleasure to read! I loved the way Clayton opened up to Norah for this brief period. And Clay and Riley’s tactics were so funny!
My favorite part was the ending. How Clay finally reached little Clayton’s heart – truly allowed him to believe he was genuinely loved – was perfect!!
The story was told from many different points of view. While I am accustomed to seeing two or three, it seemed like an excessive number. It wasn’t hard to track necessarily, it just seemed odd even though the author used these to explain other events that she would have had to work harder at telling if she hadn’t allowed us to see what it was these other characters saw.
A few relationships seemed to appear out of nowhere. With one character, when she was introduced, I noted that she was new. And then all of a sudden, it was like she was a long-time friend. I wondered if I had just missed something; but no, later on there was a reference to the fact she was a new addition to their lives.
There was also a subplot involving Gaines that wasn’t resolved. I’m not sure if there will be a future story about him (which I wouldn’t object to!) or if it was an oversight that it wasn’t addressed. Norah never did seem to have the “real” situation that we were told about explained. It seemed like this type of thing happened in several places.
If you haven’t read Dreaming of More, you should go grab a copy and read it. Then be sure to get a copy of Yours, Mine & Forever. They are very much two parts of a longer story with very few flashbacks or explanations given about what has already happened or why Norah behaves as she does. If you enjoy Christian Romance, they are well worth reading.
