Her company is failing. His plan could save it. Will their partnership move from business to pleasure? Carla “Carl” Stevenson takes a special joy in running the local timber mill. But when the economy takes a downturn, selling the family business may be her only heartbreaking option. After a prospective buyer takes an interest, she’s horrified by his plans to raze the Frazier forest to make room … make room for cheap cattle farming. To protect her home, she reluctantly turns to the town’s most notorious player…
Owen Cooper can’t believe Carl’s mill is for sale. But the construction company owner is even more shocked that “Carl” is actually a beautiful woman. Moved by feelings he never saw coming, Owen drafts an ambitious plan to save the mill owner’s livelihood… and maybe even win her heart.
Rallying their community around the audacious idea, Owen and Carl find their fates delightfully intertwined. But both their chemistry and the project hang in the balance when he suddenly walks away…
With the whole town at stake, will Carl and Owen save the mill and find their way to true love?

I really liked this start to the new series by Kelly Collins. I felt the situation was realistic and all the characters seemed like people experiencing real-life problems with honest emotions portrayed! Carla and Owen interacted well with each other as well as with all the secondary characters in the book. I look forward to reading more about this community and the residents in it!

“God, you’re no fun,” Eli complained. “You’re like Dad in better clothes.”
“… my manners run too deeply for me to abandon them.” I always had this fear that my mother had some connection to the gods, and showing a lack of respect would earn me a heavenly lightning bolt straight to my ass.
John told me I’d have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, but you’re the wartiest toad I’ve ever met.
I was sounding like our father, who used to tell us to think with our brains, not sit on them, which was a nice way of telling us to pull our heads out of our asses.
She pretended to look pained. “Look, there goes my self-esteem. Never again will I put myself out there. I’ll die a spinster.”
There was a time I thought giving my heart to a woman was suicide, but looking at her made me realize that death by Carla might be worth it.
A long time ago my mother gave me the best bit of wisdom a man in love could receive when she told me, you don’t marry someone you can live with. You marry the person you can’t live without.
My Review:
I adore Kelly Collin’s sweet and sexy small-town romances. Rescue Me starts a new series with a tie-in to her beloved Aspen Cove series, which I will never get enough of and hope she continues into perpetuity. The engaging storylines were relevant, easy to follow, laced with humor, and cast with distinctive yet immediately likable and assessable primary and secondary characters. I’m rubbing my hands together in anticipation of a return visit.
I enjoyed this start to a new series. Really liked Owen and Carla and how their relationship evolved. Can’t wait to learn more about Owen’s brothers.
We met the Cooper brothers over in Aspen Cove and now we have a new small town to fall in love with…Frazier Falls! Owen Cooper has a plan for his eco construction business and expansion is the key. Carla aka Carl Stevenson loves her family business but times have changed and the business is in serious trouble. Owen needs to adjust his order and goes to speak with Carl and is pleasantly suprised to find the lovely Carla. They are both surprised that they have never met in this small town before and as they get to know each other they realize that by working together they can possibly help expand the mill’s business and keep it afloat if Carla can help get Owen’s eco home development business off the ground. This was a very sweet story and the characters will definitely touch your heart. If you love small town romances this is the perfect story for you. It has a sweet storyline, engaging characters and just a touch of steam. Rescue Me is told from dual POV and it is not necessary to read the Aspen Cove series but I do recommend that as well. Enjoy!
I didn’t know the Cooper brothers were getting their own stories! We met them as secondary characters in another series, so this was a nice surprise. It was a pretty quick and easy read. Not clean, but the sex scenes were pretty tame, I liked that they weren’t overly graphic. I can’t wait to read about Owen’s Brothers next
Let me start by saying that I was so excited to learn that this series has a loose tie back to the fantastic Aspen Cove series. (I’d completely missed picking up on it in the character names.) Owen and Carla took me on a bit of a roller-coaster ride with their story. I loved characters, I hated characters, I laughed at their zany antics, and my heart broke for the challenges they faced. I loved that both Owen and Carla are so fiercely independent even thought they have brothers that would pretty much give their lives for them. It was so sweet to watch them being vulnerable together, especially since they played their cards so close to the vest with everyone else. That was probably my biggest frustration with the pair: the amount of secrets they keep from their siblings. They have these amazing support systems that they just won’t use. I’ve already started falling in love with the Stevenson and Cooper brothers, so I can’t wait to read what comes next.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Rescue Me was a wonderful read. I enjoyed it a lot. A new series bringing you back to the small town feels. I’m loving the characters, the Cooper brothers are going to make you fall in love! Also guest appearances from an Aspen Cove couple. An easy to read, page turner and very well written book! I recommend this book! Can’t wait for the next one!!!
Enjoyed reading this heartwarming story. Carla is great, has a huge heart, is very independent and straight-forward. Owen seems kind of timid, very career-focused and content in his single-hood. Sparks fly off the page when they stumble through their first interaction, it was hilarious. Their mission seems impossible, the plot builds in intensity as the deadline is imminent but they never give up. Great couple, his brothers are hilarious and I’m looking forward to the next Frazier Falls romantic, adventurous, happily every after. At first glance, this novel seems lighthearted and witty, but there is underlying tension as both Carla and Owen have to deal with issues that may well change their lives. Carla and her brother are at risk of losing their parents’ dream, namely the mill that has sustained the family for many years. Owen, on the other hand, has a dream but has to overcome a debilitating disorder if he is to make a success of his plans. As Carla and Owen get to know one another, they begin to realise just how much they need each other’s strengths if they are going to get over the difficulties facing them. The novel is generally well written with witty banter and siblings that know which buttons to push, making both Owen and Carla dependent on one another. I enjoyed the interaction between Carla and Owen and the build-up of their relationship under the microscope of small-town living. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A truly entertaining romance, no murdered bodies, no danger waiting around the corner, just lovable characters and a great story! Owen Cooper visits his lumber supplier, for the homes that he designs and builds, and learns that Carl Stevenson is actually Carla, beautiful and witty Carla. He has a new idea for building wood and lasting homes for the future. Carla and her brother are wondering if they will be able to keep their family lumber business open as the demand has fallen over time. Will Owen’s new business venture be the saving grace for Carla and Frazier Falls. The immediate attraction between Carla and Owen, their engaging dialog as well as Owen’s obvious love and respect for his brothers, who work with him, make this a great start to a new series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Owen is the designer of the construction company with his brothers but he has a problem with people, and Carl might be the saving grace for him and their town. This first book into another series is fun, with the bite of turmoil that a small town and family run business deals with in our world. I love the characters and small town busybodies, other than annoying brothers that bring a small town to life.

This first book in the author’s new series titled Frazier Falls, is a sweet romance involving Carla/Carl Stevenson and Owen Cooper.
Carla and her brother own the local timber mill. A mill that is in trouble and likely to either sell out or go into bankruptcy.
Owen left his prestigious job in NYC to work with his brothers in a construction company. He has a vision for his company but is not sure how to move ahead.
When he finds out the mills demise, he steps in to help. Will the team of Carla and Owen be successful not only in business but also in love? Guess you will have to find out when you read this story.

“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” Bartender wisdom! Aspen Cove is behind us now that we travel about an hour and reach Frazier Falls; small town, few people and fewer women between the ages of high school and medicare. There’s a couple bars, diner, barber and a saw mill that keeps the town alive. Friends and family here and there and those that try to make a living. Owen is the architect returning to work with his brothers and then there are the Stevenson siblings trying to keep from bankruptcy at the mill. The dynamics of this story-line made me smile; the hardships made me cry; and, reality of the world today made me keep on reading. I loved the development of Cooper Construction and family ties. Thanks to the author for giving me an ARC so I could enjoy this wonderful book.
