I was pleasantly surprised by this story. When I first started reading it, all I could think was that Ryder and Trinity were already together. I liked that Ryder and Trinity’s romance started out so smoothly. It seemed to be smooth sailing from the very beginning. What could possibly go wrong?
Then Cindy Kirk threw in a twist. After the initial twist, she added 2 or 3 more. There you have it. A story with a little angst and some uncertainty. The road just became a bit bumpier.
I understood Trinity’s reaction to Ryder’s secret. I also understood Ryder’s need to hold the secret so closely. Then, there is that “Ah Ha” moment when it makes sense to Trinity. I don’t think Ryder thought about that aspect in terms of his reasoning, but, it worked out so well.
Any ideas I may have had about the direction of the book had to be tossed right out of the window. Nothing happened like I thought it would. Lol!
Gladys, Oaklee, and the gang didn’t do nearly as much match making as in some of the other books, and the cards didn’t get the same kind of use as they did previously.
Thankful in Good Hope was another great addition to the small town romances of Good Hope with the inevitable HEA. It was still full of romance, family, friendship, love, and loyalty with a pinch of angst and some steaminess.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Trinity is Wyatt’s sister from the previous book, Ryder is the owner of The Daily Grind, the coffee shop in Good Hope. They met last month in Chicago. Now they meet again in Good Hope on election night. We find out if Wyatt or Greer is the new Mayor. Trinity is thinking of staying in town, she is going to interview for a job at the mental heath clinic. They begin dating, just spending time together at dinner mostly. Wyatt is unsure of that and voices his concerns to Trinity. She interviewed for the job with a former college classmate, and becomes a member of his business. Ryder gets a call, his friend, Jenna has died of a drug overdose, and she had his daughter, 11 years ago! Wyatt sees his name on her birth certificate, and her birth date but knows there is no way Zoe is his. Jenna told Ryder her father abused her when she was younger, and her Mom didn’t believe her, her parents want Zoe, but Ryder says no way, he won’t even let her visit them.
This was the newest book in the Good Hope series. Cindy Kirk wrote about things she never had before, and she did a great job ! Let’s buy all her books so she can keep writing in this series, I don’t want it to ever end!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. This book creates a story in itself. All the Good Hope books can be read as standalone but who wouldn’t want to get to know all of the characters. Trinity McConnell is Wyatt’s adopted sister. She has came to visit Wyatt in Good Hope after leaving her job and finds a memorable one night stand. Ryder Goodhue is also struck with lightening after seeing Trinity at the Mayoral Election Party that Greer just won. Sparks continue to fly and things are going good with the help of the town’s matchmaking crew but then a wrench is thrown into the plans as Ryder learns he has a daughter and turns into an instant single father. Trinity, having been in this position before, decides to step away from her relationship with Ryder to allow him to be a father to his child. But can she?
Of course, our matchmaking crew is all in the middle adding to this crazy situation. There are also a lot of twists and turns that leaves the readers on edge and very emotionally entangled with these characters. Ryder’s daughter came with some secrets that Ryder has to decide whether keeping Zoe safe is the most important above all including his relationship with Trinity. Can love win? This is definitely worth the read to find out.
I absolutely love the Good Hope series!
“Thankful in Good Hope” is a wonderful story of fate, faith, and trust. I was so happy to read Trinity and Ryder’s story. They were introduced in “Sparks Fly in Good Hope” and I couldn’t wait to read their story. When a chance meeting on a rainy, stormy night turns into something special, it was only a matter of time before Trinity and Ryder would meet up again. They connected immediately and were thrown a few curve balls along the way. They both had to learn how to trust and let go of the past. Finding out about Zoe was such a pleasant twist to the story and made it all the more fun. Cindy Kirk has another winner with “Thankful in Good Hope”!!

Wow. This is my favorite of Cindy Kirk’s books to date. I don’t give 5* reviews unless it is REALLY good. This one just hit all the marks for me. Other people can explain the plot, I will tell you that the romance felt real, both Ryder and Trinity were very likable, and we had enough of past friends and couples to keep us happy in Good Hope.
