Wade and Jason are back. They’re settling into their new relationship, from friends to lovers, and trying to navigate the paranormal business they now find themselves in. And Jimbo has joined the team too. It seems Sacramento has a wealth of restless spirits needing a nudge to move on their way. Taking a job in Old Sacramento, they soon realize there’s a more than average haunting at The Hitching … Hitching Post restaurant. Built over the old tunnels and hidden under many of the businesses, they find a world of spirits that have been forgotten. Until now.
Jason is excited to take on one of their first big jobs as an official paranormal research group. Running Scared Paranormal is open for business, but this case is different than anything they’ve encountered before. He reaches out for help from someone connected to the spirit realm who has first-hand knowledge on what it’ll take to ensure their safety and complete the job, but will it be enough?
Wade is thrust into a world he’s tried to stay on the edges of. He’s been to haunted houses with Jason in the past, but he doesn’t consider himself an expert. His newfound abilities will be tested in ways he never imagined, and only he knows how much he can handle, both physically and mentally. After being injured, he once again faces the fact that the spirits he’s always feared have the ability to hurt them. In this situation, the person who can help the most, may not be a person at all.

The guys of the Valley Ghosts series are at it again, this time they take a job in Old Sacramento at The Hitching Post restaurant after deciding on the name of Running Scared for their official paranormal research group. They get additional instruction and direction from Janice who intuits the nature of their upcoming challenges amongst spirits. With Jimbo in tow, Jason and Wade discover a warren of tunnels beneath the restaurant and many of the other businesses that are filled with trapped spirits including one particularly malevolent entity capable of possession! They get assistance from a ghost they’d encountered previously, a young girl who quells the malevolent spirit with the truth–he had NOT been abandoned! Whoa! Splendidly narrated by Allen Jeffries who projects the characters extremely well, BL Maxwell’s ‘Ghost Trapped’ is an incredible addition to an absolutely awesome series. The writer was a little too descriptive about those tunnels! I could feel the weight of the earth right over my head. Excellent world-building with well-developed, fully-formed characters. Such good listening! Such very good listening!
A new company is formed.
Wade and Jason set up the Running Scared Paranormal Research team, and they get their first job at the Hitching Post. Jimbo joins the boys and meets a special person from his past, along with a few more people he would rather have not met.
Jason forms an alliance with a ghost, all this in one book. They keep getting better.
Even though I wouldn’t say I like horror films and ghosts, I adored these books, and they don’t make me jump, which is always a bonus. Also, I love the dynamics between the main characters and their friends and family.
The narration was OK, but I did wince at some of the characters performed by Allen Jefferies, especially the female voices. This was a short read/listen and was made shorter by increasing the speed, which is typical for me.

I received this audiobook for free from the author at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review – nor did the author influence my opinion.
Wow everyone! This series just keeps getting better and creepier. Something evil and twisted by hate and rage lies under old Sacramento. Ours guys now joined by Jimbo and a little help from others, some of the ghostly persuasion lend a helping hand. Can they send this spirit on or will it be the end for one of our sexy duo? Read to find out. You don’t wanna miss out on this crazy ride. All the stars for this magnificent tale!
Stay away from basements
Such a clever name for their business. Also, I think Wade’s mom should be in intelligence. Wade and Jason are so sweet and protective of each other. I like watching their relationship deepen as well as seeing them flex their ghost hunting muscles. What a nasty and scary ghost this episode has. I think I’ll avoid any basements from now on. BTW, I really like Jimbo and need to see more of him. A fun, spooky, creepy, action-packed ghost adventure that I’m glad I get to experience from the sidelines.
This is a well developed book continuing the ghostly adventures of Jason, Wade & Jimbo and introducing Dean more fully! The ghost causing all the problems in this story was very scary and quite intimidating!! The guys had to work together to be able to cleanse the site( Dean’s restaurant) and try to get the spirits to move on! Another enthralling read in the Valley Ghosts series!!
I will probably never walk willingly into a basement again!
Jason and Wade are back in action and they have established their own new paranormal research operation, they recruited Jimbo and their first investigation is at a restaurant, owned by an old flame of Jimbo!
This book was such a rush of adrenaline! The evil being in this one is even scarier than the ones in the first book and the story kept me on edge the whole time!
Not to talk about Alan Jeffries playing with the voices in such a masterful manner I think I will have him to thank for a few nightmares in the near future! There’s a certain point when Jason is “possessed” by the spirit and his voice constantly changes while he speaks: from Jason’s to a more sinister one, back and forth, like the ghost and Jason are fighting for control…
