Never trust a jock. That was my first mistake. When Max Green invited me to a night party on the beach, I should have known better. The Resorties are rich kids who can’t see past their own cruelty. When Max and his friends trap me in the water, the only way for me to go is down.It would have been an ironic death, given that my father drowned in the very same waters. But that’s not what happened. … that’s not what happened. Instead my entire world changed when the Lady of the Lake took me to a new realm, one that had been hidden from me my entire life.
Dragonrider Academy is a secret society I’m not even supposed to know exists. It has knights with talking swords, professors who breathe fire, and a hot guy named Killian who seriously gets on my nerves.
It’s his fault I’m stuck here in the first place. He wants me to be his partner and face all the challenges Dragonrider Academy has to offer. He says we’re fated to be together, that I was the one who called him! Crazy talk.
Or is it?
Whatever secret he’s hiding, I need to get it out of him before I do something stupid… like fall for the bad boy who got me into this mess in the first place.
Dragonrider Academy is Episode 1 in a Fated Mates series starring Vivi, a no-nonsense kind of girl who knows what she wants. Unfortunately, what she wants is Killian and she’s not going to like the reason when she finds out why they’re Fated Mates!

Dragonrider Academy: Episode 1 by A.J. Flowers is such a story that I have had the privilege to read and makes my head say OMG!!!!! YES because I am so hooked on it now. This is book number one in this Oh My Gosh !!!! story I can not get enough of and can not wait to read the rest, I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about urban fantasy.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
Fun fast reader. Interesting premise that hooked me. Will have to keep reading these books to find out more
What a whirlwind of an episode! For such a short story it packed a lot of punch very quickly. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. So far I’m rooting for Killian he just speaks to me. This story really intrigued me and left me with a lot of questions. I am looking forward to the next episode so I can see just how Dragonrider Academy plays out.
When first reading this i was quite intrigued how the title faired with the story. In the first instance it is not clear how it will play out. I have to say i loved Viv as a character and cannot wait to read more about her and Killian.
Vivi is tricked into the same place her father drowned. Just when she thinks she’ll drown, The Lady of the Lake saves her by taking her to another realm. There she meets Killian, an annoying guy who’s supposed to be her dragon rider partner and her fated. Um…Is he joking?
nice short read for me, story pretty much started out like like stories like this, girl on the outside of things, until being in the wrong place at the wrong time brings her a change. Now it gets interesting
This book is exciting and suspenseful. Vivi is a character that I can relate to alot. I was at the edge of my seat with anticipation just waiting to see what would happen next. The details are vivid and pull you into the story even more. I recommend this book.
For such a short book you get a lot. Viv goes to a party at the lake because max invites her, well that was a mistake. She ends up almost dying in the water to end up on another realm at another school. It’s now like she’s inside one the books she always reads.
Killian explains everything to her, about the school, the dragons, her heritage……
After one got kids a secret us revealed that even she didn’t know. Now there’s a lot of tension between the two of them. So we’ll see what happens next episode.
Vivi is the school nerd outcast and figures out a little too late why she’s invited to the cool kids bonfire party. What she then discovers is totally fantastic, and her fate, as it turns out. This is an amazing opening to her adventure.
This book is fast paced and packs a punch in a short amount of time. Not much world building but I’m hoping for more now that she’s at the academy. No adult content. Hold on to your hats boys and girls!
An intriguing new series! The start was a bit rocky but picked up quickly and sucked me in. I can’t wait to see where the series goes and discover more about this new world of dragonriders.
I somehow missed that this was an ‘episode,’ not a book. It is frustratingly short. Just as I’m getting into it and things start really happening, it’s over. Ugh. However, the story is excellent, the main character 100% relatable, and everything moves along at a great pace- especially given how painfully short it is. At least there was action, world building, etc. Everything a story needs, so it’s not lacking in any way, it’s just frustrating to read something so short. Still, looking forward to episode 2. Love the dragons/wyverns, love the lore, love the characters, love the writing. Just, seriously beware. This is like a 1 hour read. So go into it knowing that and it won’t be so rough when you’re done when you’re normally hitting your stride, like me! Or, wait and binge them all once they’re all written. With episodes, that’s 1000% the way to go. Too late for me, but not for you! These will be great to binge. 🙂
Amazing read, couldn’t put it down. If this was to serve as in introduction to what’s to come, it’s very well done. While short, there is still plenty of great writing and world-building to appreciate and it promises lots of drama and action on the horizon.
Eagerly awaiting episode 2.
5 stars
Who are Max, Killian, and Vivienne? Where does Vivi get stuck at? Why? Who are the resorties? Why are they called that? What do we learn about Vivi’s life? What happens at lunch with Solstice and Julie? What happened to Vivi’s father? Why? Oh, I LOVE Solstice!!!!! What happens as Vivi is heading to the lake? Once she gets there, things get heated quickly. Who are Henry, Michael, and Kevin? What do we learn about Topaz and Vivi? I am not sure how I feel about Jasmine and the secrets I learned about Vivi and her parents! What is happening with Killian and Vivi? What happens when they kiss and what is the ending result? Such a quick read with so much mystery and intrigue built-in. Wowsers!

This was such a fun episode in this series! It was fun and exciting! I am looking forward to reading more episodes!
What a harrowing and exciting start to what looks like a fantastic supernatural story. I loved the action and drama of this story. The Characters are full of life and this first episode gives us a look into who they are and what they will become. The story flowed beautifully and before I knew it,no was at the end! I can’t wait for the second episode! Glued to the pages and wishing for more.
Welcome to Dragonrider Academy! Hang on tight because this is a fast paced easy read. Like seriously, it’s a one seater. The characters and the world building are right on par with all Flowers other works. I’m ready for more!

Remarkable job Flowers, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
So good!
I was drawn into this story from the very first page. Viv is a stubborn, irritating, smart, logical, not so smart, teenager. In this book, that ended all to quickly, I found myself wanting to hug her, cheer for her and smack smack some sense into her. I am so glad these books are coming out within a couple of months. I can’t wait to read the next one. Will I want smack some sense into Killian next? A must read.
