“He’s not a wolf.”Devastated by the death of his best friend, Zio is a soldier with one thing on his mind: revenge. Consumed by a conflict that’s raged as long as he’s been alive, he’s had little time or inclination to learn the legends of the shifter world he was raised in.And he certainly doesn’t have time to deal with a shifter of a different kind, even if it’s for the good of the war effort. … war effort. For the good of his pack. The fact that he’s already crossed paths with the new face in his unit is almost irrelevant.
Almost.
Do no harm. Give life not death: it’s the oath Devan was reborn to live by, so when he’s sent abroad to embed with a wolf pack as their resident healer, he doesn’t hesitate. In the supernatural world, some bonds are instant—soldiers become brothers, pack become family. But others run deeper and before long, Devan’s at the mercy of instincts he can’t control.
Zio’s inner wolf is desperate to be with Devan, while Devan struggles to keep the pack safe. But as the war escalates, and new love is tainted by anguish and pain, the battles within might prove the toughest of them all.
“I won’t let him die.”

Audiobook Review:
Story – 5
Narration – 5
Fantastic story and great narration.
The only thing I can add to my original review from when I read the ebook (see below) is that Dan Calley did a superb job with the many voices and accents needed for this story. It was a wonderful experience listening the audiobook and remembering how much I loved this one when I read it.
Below is what I wrote when I reviewed the ebook back in September 2019:
I’m not even sure where to start with my review of Fated Hearts. I’ve read a lot of shifter stories dealing with fated mates but this one just seemed more to me. More heat between the MCs, more angst due to circumstances and more deep feelings that connected not only the two MCs but also all of the pack members.
I have to admit, though, that at first, I was a bit confused. I kind of felt like I missed the first book in the series. The Foreword by the author helped but I guess I wanted a bit more. I wasn’t confused enough to quit reading, though and boy am I glad that I didn’t quit.
Zio is a rather young wolf. He was bitten when he was an infant. He’s never paid too much attention to shifter lore so he doesn’t understand his hyper-awareness of Devan when they first meet.
Devan is sent by the Shadow Bound clan to help Zio’s pack whose healer has died. Devan isn’t a wolf shifter and he isn’t crazy about being sent to live with a wolf pack but he obeys his Alpha’s orders. He does realize what’s happening between him and Zio but doesn’t tell him.
The connection that Devan and Zio have with each other leaped off the pages of this story and melted my heart. Garrett Leigh has done a fantastic job of world building with this story and I can’t wait to see where she takes the series next.
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

The want and need between the two heroes leaps off the page with so much emotion. Gah…I loved this one so much. I can’t wait for more in this world.
I always have a soft spot for shifter novels, but I’ll admit to being picky as the paranormal romance genre is increasingly saturated with the trope. That said, I was really excited when Miss Leigh announced she was working on a shifter novel because I knew if anyone would wow me, it would be her…and I wasn’t disappointed in the least.
Fated Hearts is the first book in the Shadow Bound series and I was sold right away. The plot was excited and kept me invested throughout. I loved the rhythm of the story- fast-paced action, intriguing dynamics with and between packs, unique characters, and a sweet slower build romance- all blending together to create a book I couldn’t put down.
The characters in Fated Hearts were a great mixture of opposing personalities with an obvious chemistry and undeniable pull between them. I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop over the course of the book and absolutely loved how Zio and Devan pushed through it all to follow their hearts. If you’re looking for a new shifter world to get lost in that delivers in all areas, Fated Hearts is that book.

This author is a auto buy for me. This is a mm story set in the paranormal world of shifters. Zio and Devan are the main characters. A great story kept me engaged the whole time. I’ll read this author again.

An adventurous and thrilling new take on shifters, ‘true-mates’ and the trials of war!
Garrett’s shifter creations are different and magical and her story an explosive war-ravaged adventure. The lust and connection between Devan and Zio jumps off the page and leads to a dangerous back and forth that could actually threaten their lives.
While fighting a war that has been going too many years, beta wolf Zio leads his team in protecting the border of Northern England. Devan is a healer from the powerful Shadow Clan which Garrett has created so much mystery and intrigue around I’m dying to know more. Devan is sent to the Northern Pack as their healer after their beloved healer was KIA. Devan receives a somewhat frosty reception but has he heals and gets to know his brothers, they warm to him, except for Zio. Zio and Devan have passionate back and forths and I feel Zio takes a long time to accept his attraction to Devan and what it all means. When lives are threatened a bond is formed and this could put the entire shifter world in danger…
This story is an adventure with lust, heat, devastation, and war. I loved the pack elements and hope we’ll get to see everyone again as more bonds are made and the pack being to heal and rebuild for the twisted actions of the enemy!
