All of her dreams just went up in flames.Cassidy’s entire life was wrapped up in her business boarding and caring for pets — that is, until the night it burned down. Shale never expected to find love again, especially with a stubborn woman running into the flames. Ever since his wife died, he’s avoided emotion like the plague, but there’s something about the annoying stranger that makes him want … that makes him want to know more.
Cassidy has physical and emotional scars from the night she lost everything. Whenever she looks in the mirror, she’s reminded that nobody could ever love her the way she now looks… except there’s no denying the way the gorgeous firefighter keeps finding reasons to be around her.
But the hidden scars each holds close to their hearts are their biggest obstacles. If they can’t overcome what’s holding them back, they’ll lose each other forever.

I love the Hunters and their stories and this latest addition, well it has a bit of everything. Relatable characters, fantastic storyline, Romance, friendship, family, danger, chemistry & mystery. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me swoon! Absolutely love this series!

This was the lovely story of two heartbroken souls meeting in the right place at the right time and finding their way slowly to each other. I loved the vulnerability of the main protagonists and the family rallying around them. Another great ready by Stacy Claflin
I could so easily relate to both Shale and Cassidy and their personal struggles. This story is down to earth, has great characters, who deal with day to day issues, both good & not so good. I still can’t believe how Emmett treated his sister and want to know if he really did start the fire that killed their parents.
I really love Shale’s family, their support, how they love unconditionally, the charity they show and share and their acceptance of people and lives trials and outcomes.
Received copy and leaving my honest review.
I loved this Story. Cassidy and Shale were so good for each other. Though Shale pulls away at times leaving Cassidy wondering if he really cares for her, he surprises her. Nobody said a relationship is easy and this couple have their work cut out for them. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
CAn two broken souls meet during a terriblemente fire and connect deeply? Cassidy has lost her business to a fire just as she lost her parents to another one when she was a teenager. Firefighter Shale Hunter lost his pregnant wife six years ago and he is still recovering from it. But this tragedy pull them together and will bring them happiness and love, if they allow it. Shale & Cassidy both have baggage from their pasts that they carry with them. Cassidy grew up in a foster home after her parents were killed in a house fire. She moved to town to be closer to her brother & has established a doggie resort & daycare. Now, it’s burnt down, she’s injured & under suspicion for arson. What’s she going to do?
Shale couldn’t believe the woman ignored him & ran into a burning building. She was so determined to rescue the animals she didn’t care about the danger she put herself in. As he got to know her, the chemistry grew between them but he wasn’t sure he was ready for another relationship. He was married before but lost her & their unborn child in an accident. Can he put his heart on the line again?
I really enjoyed this story. These two damaged hearts needed to find each other. I loved how they were able to help each other move forward. Cassidy’s bewilderment at the way her brother was treating her was described so well, the reader can feel her emotion. Shale’s conflict between hanging onto his memories with Mia & moving on with Cassidy were extremely realistic. His confusion was identifiable & easy to relate too. I love the way Ms. Claflin can create characters & make both them & their situations so realistic.
Cassidy and Shale both have scars and hurts they are trying so desperately to overcome. Sparks are literally flying when they first meet. Shale has been a character I have really wanted to get his own book. I loved Cassidy and my heart hurt for her. I loved Shale until well – you gotta read this book – but then at the end I loved him again. Looking forward to book 13!!!
