He’s my best friend, my high school sweetheart… and I’m pretty sure he hates my guts. It’s been four years since I last saw Carter, and running into him in the frozen foods aisle with three tubs of ice cream in my arms isn’t exactly ideal.I’m a hot mess, not even close to the successful veterinary student I left town to become. My dream school rejected me and now all I want to do is wallow through … want to do is wallow through the winter.
Carter, on the other hand, is just as tall, charming and handsome as ever, and one look into those chestnut eyes tells me I made a huge mistake. He’s got a thriving business, a surprisingly seductive new hobby, and he must be furious with me for ditching him.
But when he asks me to a New Year’s Eve party, I’m shocked.
Can it really be that simple to get a second chance at love, or does Carter have something else in mind as the ball drops?

This is a second chance romance. Both Rowan and Carter were best friends in high school and then lovers for a while before she left to go to college. This is a very light quick read. These two have been carrying a torch for each other since they broke up. Now that Rowan is back in town Carter is hoping that they can pick up where they left off.
There isn’t any angst thankfully and to be perfectly honest not much to the story. Carter is head over heals for Rowan and is a very sweet guy hoping she wants to be with him forever and Rowan is really into Carter she’s just afraid her dream of being a Veterinarian may keep them apart. Once these two get together physically that’s all the story really becomes, them just doing it in different spots. The conflict is over before it’s begun, which begs the question why didn’t they discuss it the first time around.
So if you are looking for something with zero heavy lifting with two sweet characters then you found it.

This was a really cute story. Rowan and Carter are best friends since they were in grade school and they even dated after they graduated high school until she left for college. Carter runs his family goat farm and Rowan returns back home while she waits to hear back from the vet school that she applied to. They get there happy ending by ending up engaged at the end of the book and she as a secret of her own but I won’t get into that little detail you will have to read the book to find out what it is.

NYE in Holiday Valley
#spoilers
This is the first story of Kaylin’s that I’ve read, and I really enjoyed it. It was a relatively-quick read, and had me interested from the very start. Perfect combination of sweet and hot!
Rowan has just finished college, and missed out on a spot at her preferred university for grad school. So she’s back home in Holiday Valley (sounds totally ideal), drowning her sorrows in LOTS of ice-cream.
Whilst at the local supermarket, dressed in her pyjamas and messy up-do, she bumps into her old best friend Carter. They also had a VERY hot summer together as lovers, before she left for college in Boston. During the conversation, he asks her to accompany her to the town’s new year’s eve party, and she accepts.
At the party, at the stroke of midnight, he kisses her, which she doesn’t seem to appreciate. Quite frankly, it made things awkward!
Fast forward… and she helps him birth a kid at his goat farm, and they rekindle their old feelings – or, reconnect. After getting hot and heavy, they both finally admit they never stopped wanting each other, and spent all this time (four long years), waiting for each other. SO SWEET!
I won’t rehash the entire story, but it is a HEA, and the ending is lovely… I just wish there was more to it! I need to know what happens next! Any chance of that Kaylin? Please?!
Anyway… I LOVED it! And I would highly recommend it xo
