Female warrior seeks unreliable rogue adept at betrayal and secrets.England 1814:Theirs was a forbidden love, but now… wit and charisma to rival Claude Duvall, and an air of mystery, necessary to be an effective spy. In short, women love him. But after being branded a traitor and tortured by the very villains he’s vowed to destroy, he’s lost his memory and is left with only one person in the world he can—and must—depend upon…and she despises the very air he breathes.
No matter, he is:
- Confidently optimistic—she’ll come around.
- Smooth-talking—beneficial when he makes her angry. And he will make her angry.
- And brilliant—useful, if only he could remember…
And he isn’t:
- Impatient—there’s always time. See also confidently optimistic above.
- Or afraid—of being in love. He’s been there before.
Frederica Glyndŵr has matured since her father erased her from the family tree, tossing her to the streets of London with nothing more than her wits to aid her survival. What started out as a horrific journey towards female enslavement has ended up being the best possible thing to happen to her. She’s learned to be a fighter, a thief, a stealthy observer, and a surprising revelation to any villain who happens along—they love to underestimate her. Everything is finally perfect. Until a disappointment from her past invades her life once more, threatening to expose her secrets. She’s ready for a reckoning, but never forgiveness…too bad he has no memory of their past.
No matter, she is always:
- Prepared—a life lesson; she will never be caught ill-equipped again.
- And capable—she’s proven that to herself time and again.
And she isn’t:
- Sloppy—with the men they’re after, this could mean the difference between life and death.
- Patient—normally not a positive trait, but time is of the essence. Bad men are coming.
- Or in love…or won’t be if she could only retrieve her heart from the man who stole it.
As the enemy closes in and Kelly’s mind begins to heal, he discovers just how deep his betrayal goes.
Can true love prevail over such sins?
Frederica can’t speak for some sins, but she’s damn sure it can’t survive all secrets…

This historical romance had me captivated from the very beginning with the good storyline and characters that were so well defined that I remained glued to my kindle until the very end!
A very well set up story.
Kelly is told that the young woman who carries his child has died, along with the child. Brokenly he seeks a way in the world and serves the crown as a double agent. Frederica (Freddie) doesn’t know better then he left her knowingly when she needed him the most. Outcast, without help from family, she must survive and raise their child. Years later they meet again. Feelings of the past are still there, but certainly also distrust of each other. Can they find the way to each other again?.
In addition, the life of Kelly as a double agent. Freddie’s father heads the organization that calls itself Society for the Purification of England. Everything that is not 100% English is murdered and hunted. And not every English Lord is happy with this. Kelly (as an Irishman) tries to find evidence against him. But can Freddie break free from her family or does there remain doubt about her loyalty?
Part of a series but certainly readable as a stand-alone

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Amy Quinton; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Too Many F-Bombs
I typically enjoy reading historical romance, especially with a suspense or mystery twist to it. I will admit that I like a story to have clean language. I grew up reading many classic novels, and profanity was not a part of them. I’ve never gotten accustomed to the use of coarse language in books (and actually I hope I never am). So I was definitely put off by the excessive use of F-bombs in this historical suspense romance. A Kindle search revealed there to be 31 of them! Every time I met one over the course of the novel, I felt like I was jerked right out of the story and its times. It’s a pity, too, because aside from the profanity, I found the rest of the book to be relatively well written. The author had created believable and relatable characters, and the plot had lots of twists and turns, so it was irksome to be pulled out of the story so often for something that, honestly, did not need to be there. Given the story, both the profanity and subject matter, I thought the cover was wholly inappropriate for the story. It makes you think that it will be much more innocent and naïve novel, which it definitely is not. Also, in general, it is never appropriate for a Regency woman to wear what looks like a frothy, modern-day prom dress; in Frederica’s case, too, she much preferred trousers and would have been unlikely to wear such a confection. This book is a bit darker than the typical romantic suspense I read, but the characters kept me interested and turning the pages.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I loved Lady Beatryce and Middlebury’s final encounter.
A charming spy loses his memory and a woman whose family has casted her out are the characters featured in this tale. Frederica and Ciarán were rather amazing characters. The ups and downs in the story were great and The Society for the Purification of England why they were just plain evil. This was an excellent tale very engaging. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Ciaran Kelly is fished from the sea after the ship he was being held prisoner on explodes. His enemies within The Society for the Purification of England want him dead. The Society wants anyone who is not pure English dead. Kelly wants The Society taken down for their evil and he wants to be the one to do it. It was due to The Society that Freddie was lost to him. The only place he could see Freddie now was in his dreams.
Frederica Glyndwr has learned how to take care of herself in the seven years since her father tossed her to the streets of London for falling in love with the wrong man. Now she is working to help take down The Society, of which her father and brother are part of. When she is sent on a mission to retrieve a man who could prove to be vital to their cause she never dreamed it would be the man she fell in love with all those years ago, the man who abandoned her when she needed him most. But he doesn’t remember any of it.
Frederica must get Kelly to Wales as quickly as possible and help him regain his memory along the way. And above all, she must keep Kelly from discovering the secret that she’s been hiding all these years.
First book I’ve read in the Agents of Change series and I thought it was really good. The story flowed really well and kept my interest from beginning to end. I look forward to going back and reading the first three books in the series and also look forward to reading more from this author.

The fourth book in the Agents of Change series by an Author I have not read before, but I want more by her. What a story it kept me turning pages from the start, and I was not putting the book down until I finished it. This is Agent for the Crown, Ciarán Kelly, and Frederica Glyndŵr’s second chance at love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Spies and lies
In 1814 Wales.
Ciaran Kelly was beat up.
He’s rescued.
Freddie, Lady Frederica, has as many secrets as Kelly does.
Spies and lies and forgotten memories.

As an agent of the Crown, Irish native Ciaran Kelly has used the charisma and charm he possesses in spades to cultivate a rather rakish reputation, though he has only ever loved one woman and still grieves her death. When his cover is blown he winds up tortured and beaten to within an inch of his life. When he awakens with no memory he finds he must rely on a woman who clearly despises him.
Lady Frederica Dawe has grown hardened by life since her father cast her into the streets of St. Giles and left her and her there to die. Now she’s learned to fight and is equally determined to take down the Secret Society for the Purification of England. Until the prisoner she rescues turns out to be her biggest heartache returned from the past and worst still she can’t even berate him for it since he has no memory. But when Ciaran recovers his memory everything implodes and both he and Frederica have to reevaluate everything they thought they knew about their lives up to this points. All the while their mutual enemies are closing in and the two must decide if they can trust each other again and allow their love to prevail.
This story had many twists and turns and so much going on. I understood it just fine without having read the previous books, but I really wish I had read them because that would’ve enhanced this story and made the references make more sense. As you can probably tell from the blurb, the language is almost totally modern, but that really didn’t bother me since it was clearly purposeful and never tried to be period accurate in the first place. The story was fast-paced and I couldn’t put it down. However, I would’ve liked to see more real conversation between Ciaran and Frederica. After everything they went through I really needed more closure for them and without them sniping at each other and without Frederica constantly trying to prove her worth. This was my first read from this author but I will be checking out more of her works now.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
