On call at Crater Emergency Animal Hospital, I, Doctor Kallie Collins, receive a curious request from the sheriff’s department. I’m to meet with a detective at a small ranch outside of town. You see, there’s this dog with a bone he’s not willing to part with. On scene, the dog tells me the bone is human. Actually, he shows me the location of the body, complete with a human skull, through an … through an animal-communication technique I learned a couple years ago. Now I have to explain how this works to the detective, convincing him I’m not the murderer.
Who knew a simple farm visit would put me in the middle of a murder investigation? Well, I did kinda jump into this mess. I had to. I know what happened. The two four-legged witnesses to the murder told me.
And I’m the only one listening.

Veterinarian, Dr. Kallie Collins has an unusual ability to communicate with animals. When called to a crime scene, she impressed the detective. However, she soon comes to the attention of the wrong person and walks straight into danger. Dogs Don’t Lie is a suspenseful and intriguing novel which I recommend.

This was a cute little mystery that I really enjoyed. Kallie is a vet that has a very special talent. She can speak with animals using a special technique that she learned that allows her to see images from the animals pov. Rather cool!! Kallie is called out to help the police with an animal and finders herself knee deep in a murder investigation. She ends up working with Ben who is new to the area. When word gets out about her special talent, Kallie ends up with her own life in danger. Kallie gets her BFFs involved as well, and the trio goes out, hoping to help solve the mystery.
This book hints to the possibility of a future romance between Kallie and Ben. I assume this is the first of many books to come, making this a series, which I look forward to.
Written as a 3rd person, single pov with a mystery completed ending. Strong story line with well, developed plot. Fantastic characters that were entertaining and very engaging. Nice descriptions of details that were easy to visualize, and entertaining dialogue that was amusing and thought provoking. All in all, a fantastic read.
