Wild Rose Summer is a story of both excitement, suspense and a secret love. When Rose was discovered working in Atlanta by detectives hired to find the last living relative of Florence Addington, she found herself on the way to Belle, Wyoming. Aunt Flo wanted to bring her niece to live in the lap of luxury and make her into a proper woman so she can be married to a proper gentleman by the end of summer. Rose loved her Aunt Flo but was uncomfortable ordering people around and not cleaning up and doing for herself. This Cinderella has other ideas of who she wants to marry and they found a way to see each other under what they thought was a great deception for Aunt Flo. But like Cinderella, all does not go well, and Rose is put to her own test of survival. A great story that will keep you turning pages.
What a great book Rose Addington is a dreamer like her father! Her Aunt Flo doesn’t approve of dreaming. So she is set on marrying her niece off to a suitable gentlemen of good breeding! Such a great book in The Belles of Wyoming Series! I Recommend this book what a great book!
I so enjoyed this story! Rose was orphaned and she thought she had no family left in the world so she went to a poorhouse in Atlanta! I can imagine how heartbreaking that must have been to a young girl. However, to find out you have an aunt in Montana – a wealthy aunt – must have been such a huge gift! A life-changing gift! The part I liked most is that it didn’t change who Rose really was – a sweet, kind, giving person. The wealth didn’t change her. Her aunt was a crotchety woman who had a negative reputation in town but Rose was kind to her and didn’t let her attitude effect her. When Rose needs shooting lessons, her aunt takes her to Lancaster’s (love the name!) gun shop and Rose is immediately drawn to him, and he to her! Lan keeps his past from her though. I liked Lan also and how he supported Rose’s secret dream. Nobody had done that for her before. Come check out this story to see how two people find each other in a small Montana town!
Never mess with a woman courting a gunsmith!
Rose proved that you can be feminine and tough at the same time! I love her spirit and her love for her Aunt. And I love their courtship although brief and shooting lessons.
When Rose comes to Belle to live with her aunt her life is going to change, totally. Now she needs to learn to be a proper lady but she also needs to learn to protect herself. Lancaster, the local gunsmith, is happy to help her. But she has a secret, but so has he.
Will he ever get the approval from her aunt to court and even marry her?
I really enjoyed the story. I have one problem with the book, I still had one hour to read when the story already had ended. A little to much from this author’s other stories. But I’m a fan of her stories.
Rose Addington came to Belle, Wyoming after living on her own a while after both parents had died. She was sought out by her Fathers sister, who tried unsuccessfully for years to get their father to reinstate her Brother back into the family. She is hiding her true self as the Author R. Addington from her Aunt.
Lancaster Tracy also left his family to break out on his own and make someone of himself after his Father tried to force him into a marriage he couldn’t abide by. He worked hard and has established his own Gun Shop.
After an inadvertent walk in on their home by a farmer delivering produce, Rose’s Aunt decides that they must also learn to use a gun to protect themselves. Does Lancaster have eyes for Rose? Is he truly flirting with her during her lessons?
How can she keep all of these secrets from her Aunt? What will happen when her Aunt finds out? This book is a must read. I truly enjoy Jo Grafford’s character development and plots. Her books encourage me to keep reading.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review
