He puts up a good front, acting as Texas-tough as can be. But Logan is carrying a secret of his own–one that could bring him closer than ever to his tried-and-true Angelina. . .or tear them both apart.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the fourth book in this series of siblings. This book is Angelina Ford’s story. The three prior books were on her siblings. Angelina is the oldest daughter and she lives in California as she has never has the passion for ranch life but she loves her family. She generally flies in and flies out quickly back to her busy life running her own independent empire. Unfortunately for Angelina, things take a down turn and she runs home to River Ranch around Father’s Day. There she discovers that her dad, who is dying of cancer, is much worse than he was just a short time ago. She can’t tell her family of her failure in losing her company especially her dad. He is a ruthless business and she knows that he would be disappointed in her.
Angelina runs to the store to buy food for a family dinner. There she runs into her old childhood best friend, Logan Brody. There the two bridge the gap that years of lost contact have brought. Logan is no longer the fun guy that she knew. Logan served in the military and was medically discharged a year ago. He is suffering from PTSD and survivor guilt over losing his best friend, Brett. To help with the loss, Logan is helping with Brett’s widow, Kelly and their little girl, Lucy. In the incident, that took Brett’s life and injured Logan, Brett’s K-9, Ella, was also injured. Ella is Logan’s shadow.
I was unsure about this story as Angelina is a busy lady who really is a strong-willed woman. She has run a little rough-shod in the prior stories and she really wasn’t a favorite of mine. As this book is written in a dual POV format, I was able to see into her thoughts and feelings and identify with her more.
This is a sexy book where the “bedroom” scenes were glossed over a little. That being said though, I can only recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18. If you love the friends-to-lovers romance, especially with a cowboy (ex-military male protagonist), then I would give this one a try.
My copy had a few grammatical errors but it was an ARC so I didn’t deduct any stars but I hope that the final book was free of them.
This is the fourth book in the series, but could be read as a stand alone. This story is about Angelina Ford and her best friend from childhood, Logan Brody.
River Ranch is a very wealthy and successful ranch in Texas. However, for some reason, the three older children all fled home when their mother got cancer, leaving their father, Walter, and youngest sister Mia. Angelina, the oldest, never even liked to ride horses. She was an overachiever, only interested in creating businesses and making a name for herself, without any help from her family. Her visits home were always very short. But now that her father is dying, she has come home for Father’s Day, only that isn’t the only reason. Her latest business venture has failed and after paying off all its debts, she has come home to regroup, but feeling like a failure. Meanwhile. Logan has also recently returned home from years in the military. His parents have retired to Florida and he has PTSD along with guilt about the death of his best friend, Brett. But he did manage to save Brett’s service dog, Ella, and bring her back with him. Working the ranch is helping, but he has refused to get the mental help that he needs to deal with his PTSD. While they had lost contact while they were both away, they now reconnect. Logan had been in love with Angelina since they were kids, but never let her know. Now both are drawn to each other, but scared to ruin their friendship.
I found the characters very relatable, the descriptions of the scenery appealing and the story line intriguing. I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Angelina Ford returned home running from her failures, A place she was always to anxious to leave again.
Logan Brody is out of the service and his nightmares and guilt has followed him. He reacquainted with best friend Angelina – they are both broken but can they be there for each other like the past?
I enjoyed this romance between a broken warrior and a former friend. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. Add a broken warrior dog to it and it is even more endearing. There was a whole lot of hurting and healing going on in this story. While this is not for the under 18 readers, it does have a lot of heart in it and I love the way it all played out. I’ve given it a 4.5* rating, and encourage you to read how they worked their way through there problems.
3.5 stars—MY ONE TRUE COWBOY if the fourth instalment in Soraya Lanes contemporary, adult RIVER RANCH erotic, romance series. This is thirty year old, California business woman Angelina Ford, and Texas rancher Logan Brody’s story line. MY ONE TRUE COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Angelina and Logan) MY ONE TRUE COWBOY follows the friends to lovers relationship between thirty year old, California business woman Angelina Ford, and Texas rancher Logan Brody. Years earlier Angelina Ford left Texas to start her own business in Los Angeles, California but her father’s worsening condition found Angela back in Texas with a secret that was slowly breaking her heart. Coming face to face with her childhood friend Logan Brody, meant feelings and emotions of a time long ago, but Logan struggled with demons from his past, demons that are about to resurface within days. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship and romance between Logan and Angelina, and the fall-out as neither Logan nor Angelina is willing to commit to something more.
Logan is a retired member of the US military, and battles PTSD and the guilt of surviving an attack against his team and the loss of his best friend Brett. Believing himself to be broken and unworthy of his own happily ever after, Logan continues to sabotage his relationship and friendship with Angelina Ford, a woman who struggles with her own guilt of failure and loss.
The relationship between Logan and Angelina is a friends to lovers romance that is doomed to fail on so many levels. Logan fights his attraction and need for our story line heroine, and Angelina is quick to run at the first sign of trouble. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to all of the previous story line couples, as well as the introduction of Bretts widow Kelly and their daughter Lucy.
MY ONE TRUE COWBOY is a story of family, friendships, forgiveness and love. The premise is heart breaking; the romance is captivating; the characters are energetic and colorful but frustrating. The up and down, back and forth, yes and no between Logan and Angelina was disheartening and often discouraging, and affected my overall enjoyment of the story. In the end I didn’t care whether or not the couple remained together or went their separate ways.

One True Cowboy is book 4 in the River Ranch series by Soraya Lane and a great addition to the series.
Childhood friends, Angelina and Logan went their separate ways after graduation. She to build her life and business in LA and he to the military.
Now 10 years later both have returned home and both have secrets. Ange has lost her business that she built in LA and is afraid her family will again think she is a failure…except they are and always have been very proud of her and what she has accomplished.
Logan, left the military with scars both inside and out, lost his best friend to the war and made a promise to look after his best friend’s wife and daughter. He’s just barely surviving but when he runs into his childhood friend Angelina they both realize that they need each other and their old friendship.
Can Ange and Logan work through their issues and secrets to build a life, full of family, sharing, friendship, open their hearts to love and find their HEA?
This is book 4 in the River Ranch series and while it can be read as a standalone, I would absolutely read the other books in this series before reading this one. Otherwise you may be slightly lost as to a lot of the back stories and relationships. That being said, we get Angelina Ford and Logan Brody’s story in this installment. Angelina has come home after losing everything in LA. She doesn’t want anyone to know what happened, or how badly she failed. But when she runs into her childhood best friend Logan, he refuses to let her wallow in her thoughts or to let things fester. He went through hell himself and knows what it’s like, and doesn’t want that for her. But when the friendship they have starts to mean more to them both, will they risk everything once again in order to have what could mean the most?
I really liked this one. Angelina has always been that character that left you wanting to know more about her. She seemed standoffish and emotionless in a way. But she definitely has hidden depths that I didn’t expect! Logan has been through a lot and is still working through things that most people would (honestly) break having to deal with. But he steps up and is doing it, no matter how much he, himself hurts. They both seem to have a lot of baggage to deal with, and honestly at times I am not sure they truly deal with it. I knocked it down a star because while on a whole I did like the story, there are parts of it that I didn’t like. The back and forth between them got on my nerves sometimes, and the last part just kinda dragged a bit. But if you take that all with a grain of salt, on a whole, the book is a good read and I would read it again.
One True Love. Finally. In this conclusion to the River Ranch series, everything finally comes to a head for the one remaining sibling who isn’t yet attached. Admittedly I picked up this series halfway in, with the previous book, but here Lane does an excellent job of continuing the feel of the series (as I know it anyway) while also wrapping up long running storylines and giving everyone the HEA or coda they deserve. Truly excellent work, and very much recommended.
3.5 stars
Throughout this series, this author has (with good reason) made readers not really like Angelina too terribly much. She’s quite rigid and cold in the other books. And, quite honestly, Ange is a bit uptight compared to her siblings. That’s her nature and that’s okay. But she’s far from unfeeling, which is quickly discovered in this story. She has a certain persona that she wears as armor. Angelina has spent her life trying to prove herself to her father and those around her when she has absolutely nothing to prove. Her father is very proud of her, and would be no matter what.
Logan is the perfect mix of brooding and caring; closed off and overwhelmingly generous. He’s had so much happen to him in the last year it’s hard for him to grasp what he wants and needs from life at this point in time. He lives each day on auto pilot; keeping to himself, running his parents’ ranch, eating the same meals day in and day out. The only things that even begin to get him out of his own head are his dog and his best-friend’s wife and daughter.
The fateful day Logan and Angelina run into each other at the grocery store, they hadn’t seen each other in well over 10 years. Although they were best friends in high school and kept in touch for a long time, the last few years that contact had even petered out. Now, they are both back in their hometown at the same time. It’s obvious from that first interaction that the “just friends” mantra they fed to everyone back in high school was a cover, there are some major sparks. Plus, there’s a kind of comfort between the two that seems to settle them both.
Of course, there are many ups and downs and a myriad of issues these two must tackle before finding their HEA. For much of it, I was right on board. Logan’s story, especially, touched my heart. While I understood Ange’s issues, I found it harder to connect with her. My life and world view are drastically different than hers. I enjoy that because how boring would reading be if all the characters were just like me? But I just didn’t sympathize with her the way I did with Logan. And I have to add, I enjoy that she didn’t go to her small town from the big city and “discover” she hated the city life. The author used the more realistic approach that Angelina loves things about her hometown and loves people in her hometown, but still thrives on her city life.
As for Logan, after a time he started to lose me. There was a cycle with him and it went on one too many times for me. I would think things were getting resolved, and this couple would throw me for a loop again. Unfortunately, the last bit of this book seemed to drag because of this repetitive conflict. And then the conclusion totally threw me for a loop and seemed pretty out in left field.
So, the first ¾ of this story were a homerun. It just lost steam toward the end. But it still has a beautiful HEA and is definitely worth the read.

Angelina & Logan were best friends growing up … and both left town after high school. I love a good old friends, new spark romance. This was very well done. While this is probably considered a stand-alone, I would highly recommend that readers read the series in order!
Having not read any of the previous stories in this series it was nice to be able to follow the characters and jump right in without needing a lot of background.
That being said, I was a little conflicted by Angelina and Logan’s story. I wasn’t sure that I really liked them as a couple. They both had baggage that they were bringing back to their friendship. Neither one of them wanting to confide in each other and talk though it. Sometimes Logan was downright mean to Angelina. Several times, I thought her reaction to his nasty tone was not what it should be. She’d say “ha ha” or continue to be tormented by Logan’s nastiness. But she keeps coming back. This drawn out back and forth was a little off-putting.
This was definitely an emotional read. I wanted to cry several times from Logan’s and also Angelina’s heartfelt moments. But, I didn’t feel like those moments were offset by enough happy moments.
That’s why I gave this 3 stars.
I have really enjoyed this series but they can all be read as stand-alones. This is a friends to lovers whose friendship goes way back. These two fractured souls, Angelina and Logan, learn to get back on their feet and take their lives back while their friendship morphs into something so much more in the process. It spans the perfect range of emotions in all the right places. I really enjoyed this story and loved the doggo.
My One True Cowboy by Soraya Lane is number four in the River Ranch series and is solid gold for readers of romance. Angelina is home to visit but has not yet told anyone why and how long she would be staying. He father had cancer and was failing. That was reason enough. In the grocery store she ran into her childhood best friend, Logan. She was happy to see him. It had been years and so she invited him to dinner. She could make him grill the steaks and she had a bag of salad. She couldn’t cook and maybe she could get by. They all knew, including Logan, that something was going on with Angelina. She would have to tell them eventually.
Lane writes a fabulous cowboy romance, this series in particular. She gives the characters their own personalities, so much you can tell who is speaking without being told. As this is the third in the series, some of the family have already found their happy-ever-after and the reader will see where this is going almost immediately. With romance, it is not the conclusion but the journey and this is a good one. People grow up and change. This is clearly seen in any family and is entirely evident in this friendship between Angelina and Logan. There are plenty of believable roadblocks set up as the story progresses. Lane does an excellent job of plotting her books and keeping them fresh. The reader will fall in love with these characters and be thrilled to see characters from earlier books and check on their progress. I totally recommend this book. Romance readers will love it.

Angelina falls in love with Logan!
Angelina Ford has returned to River Ranch to visit for Father’s Day but really it is to lick her wounds after the company that she had created had collapsed and she needed to regroup and figure out her next plan. Angelina’s best friend, Logan Brody had retired from the military to take over his parents’ ranch but he returned with a retired military dog named Ella.
Angelina isn’t the warmest character in the other books of the series but in My One True Cowboy, the reader finally gets to know her and find out that she has a hard time showing love with even her own family but she does it in her own way. Logan finally figured out that Angelina was worth everything even giving her a little space.
You need to read all the books in the River Ranch series if you want some good contemporary romance with a western feel. Plus I love Ella!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. I hadn’t read the other ones. But I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. Angelina Ford was all business…until she wasn’t and she headed home. While she was home and trying to act like everything was ok, she ran into her best-friend Logan.
We watch as these two try and navigate new territory. We watch as these two keep things from each other and we watch as their relationship blooms into something so much more.
It’s a feel good story that will make your heart so happy.
Thank you to Net Galley for providing my free advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions in this review are all my own.
The time is finally right for this beautiful friends-to-lovers romance!
Angelina Ford is only home long enough to spend time with her terminally ill father and to regroup after losing her business in LA. Running into her best friend, Logan, spins her in an entirely different direction. Their friendship takes a decidedly adult turn, making it difficult to find the friendship they’ve always depended on.
Logan is back on his family’s ranch after a devastating retirement from the military. He’s not ready to talk about, much less face, his demons, so he hesitates to push Angelina into sharing hers. Their delicate dance around protecting their hearts and their pride was beautifully written, with honesty and authenticity that brings the story to life.
This is the fourth book in the series, the final Ford sibling to find lasting love. All the others are here, taking their places in the family’s legacy as their father’s decline starts nearing its final stage. Walter is still a formidable force, however, and still has plenty to say about his eldest daughter’s successes and failures. I loved the solid family dynamics portrayed here, even in the face of impending tragedy.
Logan and Angelina find a unique path to their HEA, one that works for them while respecting their differences. I loved this book as much as I’ve loved the earlier ones. Altogether they are an epic family saga, one that I know I’ll read again and again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Two people who have been friends since childhood suddenly cross that line into something more with their relationship. But neither seemed comfortable with this change because of secret issues they were both having in their life. While Logan was more accepting of where their relationship was going, I found Angelina’s indecisiveness frustrating especially since she was portrayed as a strong minded and strong willed character. No action, mildly steamy. The story did draw a tear from me towards the end. I haven’t read the others in this series but I didn’t feel like I missed anything.
I received a copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

I always enjoy visiting the Texas ranch that Soraya Lane has created for us. The Ford siblings have been interesting and entertaining, but probably the most elusive and the one I was most interested in hearing her story is Angelina.
Angelina has been in California living and following her dreams. She’s always the sibling that comes home just long enough and then heads back to bury herself in her work again. She never spends extended periods at home and while she wants to be independent, it’s very much at the cost of her relationships. When her world in California begins to crumble around her, she heads home to the ranch, but has no intention of telling anyone why she’s really there. She tells them she’s there to visit for Father’s Day.
Logan Brody has recently returned from war and he’s not the same man that left. The things he saw and experienced have changed him and he’s struggling now that he’s back home. He now looks out for his best friend Brett’s widow and daughter, but outside of his dog Ella, he’s really not living life.
Angelina and Logan used to be best friends, but they’ve lost touch over the years. When they reconnect in the grocery store of all places, they realize that they need one another’s friendship now more than ever. They are both struggling with different things and when they turn to one another for comfort, will it ignite feelings that they both have felt over the years, but never spoke of or will it end what has been a wonderful friendship?
I really enjoyed this story and these two characters. They both had baggage and things to work through, but those struggles were the reason that they eventually came together. I’ve enjoyed all of these books and if you haven’t had a chance to read this series, I’d recommend it.
My One True Cowboy by Soraya M. Lane is a phenomenal contemporary romance with a western twist. Ms. Lane has once again provided readers with a well-written, smooth read and an outstanding cast of characters. Angelina is returning home when her business fails. Here I must confess, in book 3 of this series I really couldn’t stand Angelina, but I came to love her in this story. Logan, Angelina’s best friend from childhood, is out of the military and taking care of the family business while his parent are touring. Angelina and Logan’s story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits and a little angst. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to my next book by Soraya M. Lane. My One True Cowboy is book 4 of the River Ranch Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
